“Omg…a mystery with a swarm of hornets that kept me running like an FBI agent!” ~ Chen Pink, reviewer of ‘Let Her Hide’
I followed every action of the FBI, Fiona, and Jake in one sitting, like you watch all the episodes on YouTube in less than a day because you just can’t stop. After the third twist (yes, I was counting the number of twists while reading), I knew they were so close to revealing who the serial killer was.
As an avid mystery reader who watches lots of TV shows or movies like that, I know the psychology behind a serial killer who takes innocent lives is always the past trauma. So, I am going to judge this story plot based on the clarity of the twist, the logical explanation behind the murder subject, and the chemistry of the two FBIs who worked on the case together—they all gel in so perfectly and vividly in my running imagination.
Is it worth reading and checking out all of Blake Pierce’s other books and mystery series? Here is my answer: This book kept me running like those FBI agents, knocking on each suspect’s door, checking the suspect’s body language, and gathering more leads to make their instincts stronger on who is the one behind the bee-buzzing crime.
Can't say that I have seen a killer use a swarm of anything but ordinary hornets before, but I can only imagine how horrible that would be. Luckily Fiona is an expert in the field of entomology and will keep digging to find all the clues she can to discover the source of these insects. Even as she struggles with her sister's disappearance and the undercurrents between her and her partner, Fiona's expertise in the lab will help them catch their killer. This series is always interesting with the right amount of action. Fiona reminds me a little of Temperance Brennan in the Bones series because she is a loner with a brilliant mind and an unusual family. Can't wait to read more.
4.75 ⭐️ The reason that it isn't a full 5 stars is cause I noticed quite a few typos. Besides that, this story was great! I loved that this one reminded me of an episode of the show Bones. That's who Red and Jake remind me of when I'm reading it. AND WE FINALLY GOT LAUREN OUT OF THE PICTURE! 🎉🎉 AND..... JAKE AND RED ARE FINALLY TOGETHER!!!!!!!!! It's about damn time, too. I know there aren't make books left in this series, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what is going to happen in these last couple books.
As always, this book didn't disappoint. Yes, the story lines are similar, insects and joint partnerships, but I still enjoy them. Jake and Red finally accepting each other, too 👏🏾.
Am enjoying the series, but the mistakes in the stories that contradict each other drive me a little crazy. Prefer it when people remember what they wrote before and stay consistent.
I only gave it a 3, because once again a Blake Pierce book is in need of an editor or proofreader. The story is okay and a quick read. I prefer the Riley Paige series.
The relationship of Fiona and Jake finally! Interesting to find out that there are deadly hornets out there. A lot of research went into this book. Well done Blake!
