TWO & A HALF STARS--A short story that hopefully will continue to build on the interesting world introduced. The story left with more questions than answers, which means I will read the next part to the series.

But it had one of my pet peeves--letting the characters do the narrator's job of explaining things. It made the dialogue a bit long winded. Xavior(H) is telling his good friend and fellow child of the sea, Aaron about their world. Wouldn't Aaron already know all of this since they both are children of the sea? And what exactly are the children of the sea - gods, demi-gods, merpeople?

The ending was HFN and hopefully more story will be introduced and explained in the next part. It was an okay read.

I really don't feel I can rate this book. The formatting was all over the place, with the author's name and the book title scattered throughout the text. In addition, sentences split and there were extra spaces not only between paragraphs but between lines as well. For some reason this came across as Microsoft Word, which may have caused the problem.

Awesome kick off to the "Children of the Wave" series. First story is Xavier and Cori just imagine never again and then all of a sudden you start to age. This isn't a bad thing it just means your mate is near and you both will soon meet.

How amazing would that be if this actually happened, then people would stop trying on each other like shoes and clothes when you know in your heart this person is not your mate.

Xavier is the son of Poseidon (which know one has seen in centuries I believe since he walked away from his throne). Xavier is next in line to sit on the throne but he can only do that once he meets his fated mate.

Cori meets Xavier when she was a little girl on the beach when he was knocked unconscious washed up on the shore. Little did she know that one day they would meet again and be united as one.

Although this isn't a long story it is so well worth the read. Author Lavern Thompson is a great author and I am looking forward to reading Book 2.

I didn't realize this was a short story, so the ending came rather abruptly. I was immediatley drawn in to the story and was settled in for the long haul. I found parts of the whole fated mate thing to be odd, but it did not detract from the story as a whole. I will be reading more in the series, it was actually a really cute and fun read.

This was a simple read overall, but I enjoyed it. It was probably 3.5 stars, but what brought it to a 4 star read for me was that the story came full circle in the end. I did have lots of questions about the world, but I also enjoyed imagining what it’d be like to hang out with merpeople!

Tell the Dark Haven Diva (me) that a story is set beneath the ocean waves and I’m there! I’ve been hooked on Gena Showalter’s “Atlantis” and Alyssa Day’s “Warriors of Poseidon” series for years. I was hoping that the Sea Bride would be a short but satisfying treat reminiscent of these other larger than life series. Unfortunately, after starting with a promising prologue, Ms. Thompson’s story quickly begins to unravel. However, I don’t completely blame Ms. Thompson. What she needed was a good line and copy editor to point out her plot inconsistencies and awkward phrasings which were apparent within the first 15 pages of her 46 page story. Here’s just a sample of what I mean.

On page pg. 5, when Xavier’s friend voices his doubt that the sea witch has told Xavier the truth that he will find his bride-to-be on the ocean liner, Xavier tells his friend that “The witch cannot lie to me. Not when faced with my trident scepter. She spoke the truth…” BUT on pg. 9 Xavier questions whether or not the witch is right.

On page 7, “Those who were mated all said the same thing: he (Xavier) would be immediately drawn to her (his bride), AND SHE TO HIM. Xavier and Cori are drawn to one another at first sight but, after the initial meeting, Cori is disinterested and totally unaffected by Xavier’s presence. Once you couple these and other plot inconsistencies with awkward phrasings, lackluster undersea descriptions, and the lack of any real torrid love scenes between Xavier and Cori, Sea Bride reads like a first draft and not a finished work ready for publication. For these reasons (and more) the Sea Bride left me adrift and wanting a better sea worthy tale.

On the Waves of Love

As a young girl Cori Daniels and her dog, Coco, had a chance encounter on the beach with a young boy named Xav. Xav appeared to disappear into the water with the dolphins.

Prince Xavier was in search of his life mate, and according to the sea witch, she was on the cruise ship and he was going to find her. Armed only with the knowledge that he has once met her, Xavier realizes the hardest part in all of this would be convincing a land walker that she was his mate and together they would live as he ruled the water from his rightful place on the throne.

I fell in love “Sea Bride: Children of the Waves” from the beginning and found myself drawn to the story. The only complaint I have is that this was a novella and was over way too soon. It was well written and will appeal to fantasy fans as well as romantics. I would highly recommend this to someone looking for a quick and entertaining story. I would read other things from this author, LaVerne Thompson, and welcome a more in depth story line for Xavier and Cori.

A short introduction to an underwater fantasy world parallel to ours. The concept was interesting just not fully developed. I would've loved more depth with not only the characters but also the world. Maybe the next books provide a deeper view into this new world of sea people and their lifestyle.

I would give this 5 stars if it was longer.
I am just so disappointed that this isn't a full novel/ a full series because the potential is there.
I think we need more underwater creature romances (besides mermaids) and this was such a nice new/ refreshing story. With Xav, the mc, being the son of Poseidon, there's just so much story potential there and it was wasted unfortunately.
I just finished this book and I immediately started the next one because even though I already know I am going to love it but be disappointed, the stories are just too good.

I'M PISSED THOMPSON!!!!

Short but good

I thought the story was short but good. It was kind of sweet how they met when they were kids. Then they reconnected as adults. Could have been a longer story. I would like to give it a 4.5 stars due to how short it is but there isn't that option. Otherwise, very cute.

Since they are people living under the ocean, I was expecting more oceanic features besides eyes. These creatures dont have tails and swim using legs? How is this functional in an underwater environment? I wish the author included more detail in this story.

This short story is a great introduction to this new world. I wish it was rewritten as a full books because somethings felt rushed and leave us questioning too much, I do feel confident that this issues will be addressed in book two. Really looking forward to read it!!!

Cori and Xavior have a not-so-chance encounter when she is just a child. Years later they're grown up and have another chance encounter with one another, not recalling the first. This a fanciful tale that I thoroughly enjoyed.

It was a short , cute and to the point novella. I prefer something with alittle more depth to it but it was a cute little romance I would recommend.

I really liked this book. It was kind of funny that Cori hated the water and yet she won a cruise. She was sick and couldn’t participate in anything on the cruise. After a couple days she seemed to be better and ventured out.

Xavior was looking for his mate and he was led to the cruise ship. What a twist with having him be mated to someone who didn’t like the water. Cori is drawn to Xavior just like he is drawn to her. They can’t remember meeting long ago when they were younger.

The sea witch creates a bad storm and it winds up knocking Cori overboard. Xavior dives in to rescue her and takes her to an underground cave where they make love. They know that the attraction is strong between them but when he tries to explain to Cori that he is from the sea she thinks he is crazy. He asks her to spend some time getting to know him and visit his home. Cori decides to take the chance on this incredible man that she is having a hard time resisting. She is amazed at his home and finds out he is to be the next king. The only problem is he needs to find his mate to make it official. All his mate has to do is sit on the throne and he will know if she is the right person.

This is a great short story. I read it in a short time. I would recommend it and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

In Sea Bride- Children of the Waves, author LaVerne Thompson, takes us on an adventure through the sea. When Cori was younger she stumbled across a younger look Xavior, thinking he was hurt. Unbeknownst to Xavior he met his bride that date, fast forward 10 or 15 years later Cori win a trip on an ocean-liner. However she spends her first four days with seasickness, once that as subsided she and her best friend Des leave there cabin. Xavior on the other hand has almost given up hope of finding his bride until he is drawn to look from his balcony to the deck and see Cori. The meet has Xavior comes out of the elevator as Cori and Des are going back their room. One thing leads to another Cori fall overboard and Xaivor jumps into the water after her. Taking her to his world showing the amazing world beneath the sea.

This book ended too quickly and I am certain there is more to Xav and Cori's story.

Xavier is one of the Children of Poseidon and king of his people. He has been searching for his bride for 200 years .Xav visited the sea witch a powerful seer who had a vision of him finding his mate in the world of the land walkers . He finds Cori his mate on a luxury cruise and rescues her when she accidentally falls overboard during a storm .The white witch comes after Cori she wants the throne and tries to get Cori out of the way .Xavier brings his mate to his kingdom and shows her his world .I really enjoyed reading this book and loved the new take on Mermen very different and unique. My only complaint was that I wish it has been longer. This is the first part in a series and does end in a cliffhanger .I look forward to reading the rest of the books .

This is the first book in an on going series. The author does a great job of taking the reader inside both Cori's and Xav's world. As a child, Cori realizes how Xav is special to her even though she is to young to understand. Usually it is Xav's people who can point out who they will spend their life with but Cori although does not know at the time, shows that she was destined to rule with Xav. Although this first story is a bit too short for my taste I still gave it five stars because this story had my attention until the last word.

Quite an enjoyable read! Anything that ties into Greek mythology tickles my fancy, so this tale of a son of Poseidon grabbed my attention. And it held it right to the end. The ending was a little sudden, but it left things open for the next book in the series, so I can overlook the brusque cut-off.

While the story-line was promising and had some cute moments, it wasn't well-executed.
And it could have used some editing - especially in the choice of some of the wording and sentence structures.
(This may be a quirk of mine, but I would have preferred the correct spelling of Xavier, instead of Xavior. Then again, maybe Xavior is the up-and-coming 'savior' of his underwater kingdom...?)

Talk about a laugh your butt off situation, Sea Bride is about a son of Poseidon the possible future ruler of the sea and his destined seasick human mate. I found the story to be very amusing and dangerously romantic. I wouldn't mind reading the next of this Children of the Waves series, Sea Storm and maybe more of LaVerne Thompson's work.

Pretty good

I didn't like it cause it all of a sudden just ended. There wasnt a hard villain to defeat and there was only one sex scene, which was scorching hot. I read it none sit down and was intrigued, but I wanted more. Easy quick read..

Very sweet

This was a very original storyline and very sweet read. Ms. Thompson created a very colorful and descriptive sea world. Cori and Xavier had great chemistry. The only regret is that the story was much too short. It left me wanting more since it ended abruptly.

I could only give it three stars because I felt I was left hanging. What happens with the witch, and her best friend
