I pre-read this before my son (age 10) started it. He has loved this series. I felt this book taught some great math and prepared the way to begin fractions next. I even learned about “casting nines,” a concept I knew nothing about. So helpful.
I really like how this series has taught my kids about more advanced concepts that really are simple, but that really threw me off when I got to them in advanced algebra and calculus (for example, sets, functions, and sigma notation).
And we are done! Life of A-J took us on a journey through a week with Fred. We learned somethings, we worried about the decisions that he was making and we laughed. My boys loved these books. Ages 7-13.
This was the last Life of Fred book I checked out. The author’s views promoted in the books were intolerable and not something I wanted to support or continue exposing my child to, even while discussing them with my child as I did through the books he read.
