Relevant to alumni and students, perhaps local residents of Bemidji, Minnesota. Published in the 90’s, this is the history of what is now, Bemidji State University. I quickly turned pages to get to the 1960’s and 1970’s when my brother and I attended respectively. There was much that happened, particularly with faculty and the evolution of the college to a university, that I had no knowledge of…so interesting. Written by legacy history professor, Dr. Art Lee. Attending class with Dr. Lee was quite an experience. Each class was packed full of learning fueled by his energy and passion for history. I remember a few of his historical costumes he flaunted to align to the period of history on the agenda that week or semester. I sometimes lost what I was supposed to remember due to all the fun that was had. There is a brief sports and people section however it is minimal compared to the happenings organized around each decade. Never at a loss for words, Dr. Lee kept writing right up to where the appendix begins, page 508. My brother played hockey for Bemidji State in the 60’s. I just informed him he is mentioned in the book. Great! …on page 508. Recommended for alumni if you can find a copy of it.
