Chase and Briar and the rest of the McCree's are gearing up for 4th of July fun. It is a short story, under 10,000 words, and starts right before the epilogue in Chasing McCree.
I'm J.C. Isabella, and I love to write. I've been writing for about ten years now. Mostly it was just for fun, for me. But my friends liked my work, so I decided to self publish. I hope you enjoy the rest of my site, and the books I have written.
The reason I chose to write romance, is because I love a happy ending. In YA there are so many lessons to be learned, so many firsts to be had. Why not write about first kisses, first crushes, or trying to explain to your father you were bitten by your boyfriend, who happens to be a werewolf?
One thing I will always promise in my books is a happy ending. I've always hated getting to the end of a really great novel, and feeling let down because it didn't end the way I thought it should. So about ten years ago, I decided to write a book. I remember it was about these kids who hijack a boat to find buried treasure in Mexico....
Needless to say, my writing has come a long way since my teen years, and I know I have room to improve, but I feel guilty having these books sitting in my computer, with no one to read them. So I'm putting them out for the world to see!
I try not to take myself too seriously. I'm not an editor, nor am I a total wiz when it comes to grammar or language. I try my darndest though, and I hope to give people an enjoyable read that is nice a break from reality.
I put a lot of work into what I do, and I appreciate people reading my work. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
If you haven't read Chasing McCree ...GO GO GO!! What are you waiting for?
What I loved: 1. Chase's swoon worthy words 2. Chase and Briar's sweet/tender moments 3. Chase being very mature and adult with his mom: being straight forward 4. Briar for knowing what she wants and where she belongs 5. Cute scenes between Briar and Chase where they kiss 6. Chase's funny friends: Tucker and Dustin 7. Chase's cousin Grant thinking he can make a man out of Chase's step-dad Todd 7. Briar's grandma's decked out clothes.. lol 8. When Chase call's Briar: Briar baby
I loved this very short and sweet story with Briar and Chase. It was perfect and left me missing these characters even more. Chase is a very mature 18 year old who had to grow up fast. His mom and step-father have come to visit him on his Ranch. The mom left the Ranch ages ago including Chase and his father. She thinks Briar is just taking a break from her teenage life, family and friends. She doesn't believe Briar can really be happy on the Ranch, because lets face it, she wasn't happy many moons ago herself on the ranch. She doesn't know Briar all that well and that the country life fully agrees with Briar. Briar pretty much is grown up and mature for her age as well as she had parents who didn't pay much attention to her. Also, Briar's very funny and lively Grandma comes to visit for the 4th of July. She thinks cowboy Chase and the country full agree with Briar.
This book was sweet and I found many swoon worthy moments between Briar and Chase that I LOVED!
“The McCree’s Star Spangled 4th” was an extension of the book “Chasing McCree.” It was basically a longer ending to the book which was awesome because I didn't want the first one to be over. Blair and Chase were in Montana, where Chase’s mother, step dad, and Blair’s grandma were coming to celebrate the 4th of July. The McCree family had their annual 4th of July party and everyone from the neighborhood was there. The day after the party, Chase’s mother started in on Blair about how she should just go home. She thought staying in Montana was a bad idea for Blair because it was going to end like it did for her and Chase’s father. Montana wasn’t for her so she didn't think it was for Blair either. Obviously Blair didn't like that because she wanted to stay and be with Chase. She ran off to the barn crying. Chase found her and she told him what happened so he had a talk with his mother. He laid down the law that Blair was going to stay whether or not she liked it.
The main characters of this book were all awesome people. There was Blair, the city girl turned country that was in love with Chase. Chase was a loaded ranch kid, that just took over his deceased dad’s 50,000 acre farm in Montana. Chase’s mother and stepdad were smaller characters but still important. Blair’s grandma was my favorite of all the characters. She always had something smart to say. He had some great sayings and gave the best advice.
The setting of this story was in Montana; the McCree’s ranch for the most part. The ranch was a beautiful 50,000 acre plot of land. It was filled with grasslands, hills, rivers, trees and everything else you could think of. This story took place in the beginning of July. To be exact right around the fourth of July. It was the best time to be in Montana because it was always so nice and warm out.
There were many themes in this book. One could be when someone tries to warn you about a bad situation that they had and they think you are going through. Chase’s mother married his father at a young age and moved to the ranch and she hated it. They ended up getting divorced and she left because the ranch was not her thing. She tried to tell Blair it was going to happen to her but she is willing to take that chance.
I would recommend this book too. Most people would be very confused unless they read the first book. I would really recommend it if you read the first one and liked it. Im glad I found this book online. If you haven’t read “Chasing McCree” you really should.
I loved getting more Chase and Briar!!!! This whole gang is so wonderful. We got to spend the 4th of July at the McCree Ranch with everyone. Including Chases' mom and Todd. Oh and let's not forget Grandma. That lady is such a hoot!!!! I just love old people and their witty humor. But my favorite parts were between Chase and his cheerleader. Those two are so darn adorable. I enjoyed this extra story and can't wait to read the Christmas novella.
The McCree’s Star Spangled Fourth is an extension of the first book, Chasing McCree. I absolutely loved this extension, and read it in less than a day. In The McCree’s Star Spangled Fourth, Chase and Brair are married and live in Chase’s old house. Chase’s mom and step-father fly to Montana to visit Chase for the Fourth of July weekend. While they are down there, Chase’s mother analyzes Brair and Chase’s relationship; constantly saying that they are too young to fall in love. By the end of the weekend, Brair finally realizes that, no matter what, she made the decision she wanted to make.
Brair Thompson used to be a girl who was nothing but make-up, uniforms, and being fake. Once she met Chase, she changed into a completely different girl. She stopped wearing make-up and finally started to believe that she was actually beautiful. Chase McCree is a cowboy, grown and raised in Montana, who owns his own farm since he turned 18.
In The McCree’s Star Spangled Fourth, the setting is in Montana in the 21st century. They spend most of the time outside with the animals.
In this book, a main theme would have to be warning someone of what the future may hold. In The McCree’s Star Spangled Fourth, Chase’s mother divorced his father right after they had Chase. She said she was never someone to live on a farm, but when she got there she fell in love. After less than a year she realized she didn’t want something like that. When Brair and Chase had a spontaneous love burst, Chase’s mother saw something in them that made her think of herself and Chase’s father. Immediately, when she arrives in Montana, she tries to explain to Brair that she’s just too bubbly to comprehend what’s going on.
I would recommend this book to anyone who read the first book, Chasing McCree, because it is a good way to add even more to the ending of it; especially something that you just did not want to put down.
How nice to read about Briar and Chase again. It made me reread 'chasing McCree'. A very short story, but noetheless entertaining after reading the first book.
Briar has been at the ranch for about 2 months now since she left Florida and went to Montana to live with her boyfriend Chase. Briar gets up to get something to drink and gives the dogs a biscuits and grab done for Stinker, Chase's dog, and went to Chase's bedroom and gave Stinker the biscuit and woke Chase. Briar told Chase that she was a little nervous about his mother coming done and he told her not to worry about it and go to bed. Chase takes his mother and stepdad horseback riding and later they will shot some guns. Chase and his cousin Grant set up a dance floor for the 4th of July party. Chase's mom insult Briar and Chase tells his mom to get to know Briar before you judge her.
A nice chance to revisit Chase and Briar in Montana
For those who have read Chasing McCree and enjoyed it, this is a fun chance to revisit these highly sympathetic young lovers. This short story is set on the McCree family ranch in Montana. The events take place just before the epilogue in Chasing McCree and, as is apparent from the title, deal with the celebration of the Fourth of July.
Be aware, this is an extremely short glimpse into a weekend where Chase's mom and stepdad visit. Loved that Chase and Briar have so much fun together and that she has learned to love his life and his home. Chase's mom was not cut out for the life on a ranch and thinks Briar is making a huge mistake. I wish this had been included in the actual book. I think it would have made for a great twist.
I thought that it was a really cute extension to chasing Mccree I love love loved it I thought t was one of the books going in my favorite box and it made me smile so much my face hurt and I didn't sleep till well past midnight reading it. I finished the book in a day and a half but I wish it could last forever.
For those who really enjoyed the Chasing McCree book, this will help you cling to the characters a bit longer before you need to move on. For those who just thought it was okay, this probably won't improve your opinion. It read like an excerpt from another book with a whole lot of filler. Though, honestly, you'll never know how you'll feel until you read it for yourself.
I loved this book, it's a perfect short add on to the chase and Blair story, I just wish there were more books to read about them. It's a story that makes you believe that the future will be good you just have to grab what life troughs at you.
