It was annoying that Marissa spent a good chunk of the book not believing Craig, though I can see why. I just wish she would have actually listen to and trusted him sooner.

The rooster was hilarious though 😂

A great romance set during the 1860's with a little twist. The main character is transported from 2012 to 1863, in Charleston and in the height of the Civil War. As she is transport back, she lands (literately) on her soul mate. Marissa McCafferty is an registered nurse, her equal in the 1860's would be considered a doctor. Capt. Craig Langston, her soul mate is a doctor that is stationed at a hospital in Charleston. Marissa is assisted in her new world by Genie, who just happened to have been transported to the same location 20 yrs. before Marissa. Of course there is obstacles along Marissa's journey by the name of Kristen Jamison. This is a good southern romance that will keep you wanting more and wondering what will happen next. I really enjoyed this book and plan to read the sequels, Cadence and 11th Hour Rose.

I read this hoping against hope that the author would manage to write a half decent book from the Confederate viewpoint. Ha, funny joke.
I doubt the author knew anything more than that the Confederate soldiers wore gray uniforms!
It was just the usual utter nonsense about "well, maybe they weren't so bad" instead of showing them as the true warriors for our rights that they were.
It was a lame love story, too rushed and too cliché, it was a lame supernatural story, not enough depth or explanation, and it was an utter failure as a historical story.
Why, oh why, O Authors, is it SO HARD to do basic research?!

There is an unusual twist in the beginning of this book. Characters are clearly defined. Overall, a good story. This was not a slow read- Perfectly paced. It was a little predictable, but as I read more, the story became much more deeper and complex. There are some surprising twist, which is always a good feature. I always find it refreshing when a nurse or medical professional is thrown back in time and uses modern medical knowledge in the distant past. I would not consider this a permanent keeper, but would recommend this to time travel lovers. 272 pages for .99 Kindle price.

As a TT story it needs a lot more work. The story could of been good but it felt like bits and pieces were taken from other books. The author did try but...it looked more like she wanted to put everything in one book. Was not captivating took 4 days to read, that shows how it was not that interesting. Needs editing.

I am a big fan of time travel novels and this one was great.

A nurse from 2012 walks across a field and into the arms of a sexy doctor. Her problem . . . the year is now 1863. Gossip, lies, and greed make it difficult for a twenty-four century nurse and a Civil War doctor to trust each other

I really liked this book.

Pretty great read? The first I have read of someone going back during the civil war but highly enjoyable!!! Loved the story, the setting, everything. It felt like the days we see in Gone with the Wind. (One of my all time favorite movies) really, could not put it down!!

4/5 stars. This was a good time travel romance read. I loved the beginning and how Marissa first meets Craig, their relationship felt real (they had their fights and disagreements). This book was in third person, which was great to read from different characters povs. I did enjoy the setting, plot, characters, ect. Yet, this kind of felt like a typical romance read to me. The main antagonist in this story, Kirstin, really didn't have any motive other than money. Why she wanted only Craig's money was unanswered. Also, Paul Christensson's motive wasn't explained; he was just stealing money and burying body's in the back of someone's house because he can? It was very predictable that he was the one killing people in the woods. Another problem also, was there were so many grammar and spelling errors in this book. It was like the author never even bothered to read her manuscript over after writing. There were even some sentences without PERIODS. How does one forget basic grammar structure when you're an author! I kept mentally editing the book myself as I was reading it (where I would put or take out a comma, ect), it got annoying and irritating after a while. The errors took me out of the story. I did enjoy the ending though and all the loose ends were wrapped up nicely. Overall, a good book but with some issues, I would recommend this book and will be picking up some more books by this author in the future.

Not sure how I wanted to rate this book and I still don't know. This is the first time travel that I can't and don't want to picture myself taking the place of the heroine. Not because the hero is not someone I didn't like, but because of the unrest of the time. It's a little to close to home and I definitely would not have gotten the same reception as our heroine.

Marissa finds herself "thrown" back in time from 2012 to 1863. Once there she runs right into Craig Langston (awkward), then meets Genie who claims her as her niece (thank goodness). If not for Genie coming to explain a few things that meeting with Craig would have been more awkward than it was.

Genie was able to guild Marissa through this ordeal because she was from 1992 and had been sent back exactly 20 years earlier.

The romance between Marissa and Craig was good, and I know that this is not a long book, but I thought that Marissa would have a bit more difficulty trusting someone enough to fall in love considering the fact that she just had her heartbroken before ending up in 1863.

Overall it was a good read. There were some grammar errors, word usage problems, and/or typos, but those things didn't really detract from the story.

I loved it! I enjoy stories that deal with time travel and the hero being a doctor as well as a confederate soldier. I can't imagine her being a nurse is qualified as a doctor in the past, but medicine seems very basic during civil war with no needles, no oxygen tanks, medical equipment, no gloves, and a makeshift hospital is filthy. I don't blame her getting all stirred up by the way the wounded soldiers were in a filthy place and surgery didn't use sterilized tools. There was jealousy and a murder scene that I don't want to spoil the story so I'm leaving it out. The reading was a smooth read and somewhat hard to put the book down. Must read.

Edge of time an Ok read but not spectacular.
I think I had issues with both characters. Starting with Marissa. A jilted future bride in my past experiences made for a average heroine. This story didn't make any exceptions. Her lack of trust in Craig grated on my nerves. Combine that with the presence of the "ancestor" of her past nemesis and you have me rolling my eyes.
Craig was easily convinced that his wife Marissa shared her body with others and that she was a spy and from there all went downhill for the story.
I coudn't wait for the story to be over.

I had a mixed feelings about this, I mean Marissa and Craig made a great couple but they seriously need to communicate with each other, they had too much trust issues!! Oh and that b**ch Kirsten she pissed the hell out of me!! On another note, I feel like the war vibes here weren't strong enough, and I was actually hoping for Marissa to showcase her medical skills more and be a little bit more fierce (I guess I read too much Chinese Wattpad stories T.T)

PS: Very fast paced, good to binge, I think (?)

Wonderfully written

This, this book, the way it was written, the beautiful language, the ease at which the words flow, this is the whole reason I started reading when I was a girl of 20. I have so enjoyed this book, the soft tender magic between the main characters, the love scenes between them are just perfect. It makes you long for a love of your own in another time and place and draws you into their world.

I love the concept of time-travel. Always have. So okay, I maybe a little biased, but I really liked this book. I liked how Marissa coped with whatever came her way, she wasn't an idiot like some other.. ehem.. heroines in historical romance. But more than that, I just really liked the plot. It didn't drag on, and it wasn't too fast. It was interesting, reading about Marissa's struggle to hold back her knowledge as a 21st century nurse.

Very good!

I like that the author is an RN. It clearly shows her opinion of the questionable medical practices in the 1800s. It was a pleasure to read the book where the heroine isn't a wilting female. Also, this is my first Civil War novel. I quite enjoy the change from the strange time travel names in other books. Was great to read about some of our history instead of Welsh or Scottish. Thank you

Entertaining and well written time travel premise. A first for me from this author and I'll be enjoying her other works as well. The characters were true, vivid and their dialog mature and intelligent.

Ms. Blue is a seriously under-appreciated historical romance author. She sets a fascinating backdrop in both the present and Colonial America, her characters and plots are very well-developed, and I've thoroughly enjoyed all of the Langston brothers. A+ highly recommend!

Who doesn’t love a good time-travel romance? When modern day women meet up with those bold, daring Confederate soldiers, anything can happen!

Marissa McClafferty is a nurse who has just had her heart broken by her fiancé who tossed her aside for another woman. As she heads home from work, making plans to move her things out of his studio, she wishes for a new life. Moments later, she finds herself stranded on the side of the road. She makes her way to an old farmhouse to call for help only to be engulfed by an eerie mist that transports her through time to 1863 and into the arms of the dashing Dr. Craig Langston.

Edge of Time begins with a great premise. Marissa wants to get home and the widow in the farmhouse was transported back in time herself twenty years earlier. While she searched for a way back to her time, she must come to grips with living in a new time period. However, the story has quite a few areas where the author gave up too soon (spoiler alert).

First, Marissa falls into Craig’s arms quite easily within just a day of meeting him and one walk. I get that a woman of 2012 doesn’t share the same ideas of propriety as they did in 1863 but this makes Marissa far less appealing to me. Second, she gives up searching for her way back early in the story. She refuses to become involved with Craig because she wants to return home and at the first sign of trouble, she gives up. It doesn’t seem consistent with her previous actions. Also, Kristen’s “giving up” at the end hardly seemed to be something she would have done based on her previous conniving plans.

Since I mentioned the “trouble,” the entire scenario of the killer in the woods seems like a contrived plot tactic to force Marissa and Genie into town, and closer to Craig. It never really resolves other than finding out who the man in the woods is. There is no real motive for why he was there and suddenly, you are given a glimpse of a devious character you have been led to believe was “good” throughout the story.

With those things pointed out, I have to say that I loved some of the characters. Genie was fun to read and she had real personality as did Kristen Jamison. Ms. Blue often writes from the character’s point of view and does a great job at conveying emotional turmoil and trial which is what carried this story. Where the plot was lacking, character shone through.

Overall the story was entertaining and I think pretty lighthearted, except for the latter part which turned just a little grim. The time traveling aspect in this story was more of a minor detail that is quickly brushed off in the first few chapters, and touched upon in some conversations just to remind the reader of the fact that the character doesn't belong there. Aside from that, the main characters have a whirlwind romance, expelling all doubts Marissa had almost immediately just for them to come crawling back later in the story. It was so strange given that she was thrusted in a new environment without any sort of warning and she just decided in a few chapters what she wanted to do. I did like the couple since I felt they were both sweet and had a deep connection.

The latter part of the book I enjoyed more because of some of the things regarding the times, like social unrest, were touched using and affected the characters' life and relationship. There were time suit was really frustrating because both were stubborn, however, love prevailed at last.

There were some things that happened but weren't actually told, except for the characters themselves telling them through a monologue or by off-handed comments which I really thought could've had add more drama or depth to the story. The epilogue was nice but I wished it was longer.

In summary, a simple, straightforward storyline with a little time leap factor and a bit of drama that makes it an entertaining read.

I got this free from Amazon.

I really like time travel books so I was extra excited to read this one. The cover is really cheesy over the top because this book wasn't exactly clean but it was very mild and not at all nasty like a lot of books in it's genre.
This book starts off strong. It was fast paced and exciting but as the book moved on and we got to know the characters more it started to slow down. At first there was tension with the two main characters but I felt Blue didn't allow much to happen there and so the book sort of drizzled.
After a while the book got a little boring. I kept reading because I wanted to see how Blue rapped things up with the time travel.
The ending was a little fulfilling. Blue was able to bring closure to the book and it wasn't anything new but it was a resolution, at least.
Overall, this book was just okay. It wasn't as good as I hoped.

The cover makes this book look trashy, which I suspect is to pull in romance novel enthusiasts. However, it doesn't give the author enough credit, there is a lot more to the writing and plot than a cheap romance novel.

This book starts off strong. It was fast paced, exciting and the characters were likable. As we got to know them it started to slow down and lost some of it's sense of time travel. It's almost as if what initially happened to the main character took a back seat to a new plot.

However, I flew through book because it kept me intrigued. With a new cover and some error correction (at first she is born in '85, later she is born in '86) this book could be more than just a Kindle freebie!

3.5 stars. I'm not a big fan of historical romances but enjoyed this one. If you're a diehard history fan the characters behavior might bother you. I enjoyed the primary and secondary characters each had a different enjoyable personality. The romance/sex is light enough for a mature YA. I'll be checking out more books from this series.

Fantastic characters with an interesting plot full of history and a great HEA. My only complaint is in regards to the numerous editing errors and for that I had to take off a star. The book itself is wonderful, but it could be even better if the typos were not there.

EDGE OF TIME is the first of Melissa Lynne Blue's books that I've read and I wasn't disappointed!
Marissa's life was unsatisfying in the year 2012 but one fateful night sent her back in time to 1863 and right into Craig's arms! I really enjoyed this time-travel romance!
