A Zephyr military surveillance plane captures a brutal, methodical murder on a sandy beach 10 miles below. If the Senator was murdered, is there a military insurrection behind it? And was the Senator's death connected to the murder on the beach? As Jimmy and Angella search for the answers, they stumble on the murder of the Senator's underage girlfriend. In the process, Angella's life seeming becomes dispensable as the various factions fight to preserve their invincibility.

About the author

David Harry is an attorney and the author of four mystery novels, The Padre Puzzle, The Padre Predator, The Padre Paranoia and The Padre Pandemic. Standard Deviation, a novel based on an autistic child, was just released.

All four mystery books are set on the rustically beautiful South Texas barrier island of South Padre Island and all three feature the crime fighting duo Jimmy Redstone and Angella Martinez. David’s first novel The Padre Puzzle is the all time bestselling book at the Paragraphs on Padre bookstore on South Padre Island.

Originally from the East Coast, David was introduced to South Padre Island in 1992. He now lives on the island full time with his wife and their dog. David is the Vice President of the Mystery Writers of American Southwest Chapter.

Loving these stories because i live on South Padre Island, i know alot of the real life characters and places in the book. Knowing this makes these stories come to life even though SPI rarely has big stories/crimes. I can forgive the editing oversights because i am enjoying the stories so much.

I recently won this book from first reads on goodreads and received the book shortly after. I spent a few weeks trying to put myself in the right state of mind for another thriller, as I had just finished 2 back to back. So I took a short break about one chapter in for 2 weeks and now as I have finally finished the book I can honestly say "What was i thinking!" What an amazing read! I loved David Harry's writing style and great description of the characters drove me through this exciting book. This book had a lot of unexpected twists and suspense that once I actually dedicated the night to reading it I couldn't resist staying up all night to finish it. Great book I give 5 stars all the way and will most likely read it again in the future! I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery/thriller. I want to add the little romance incorporated into the book was also just a perfect add to the story. Thank you David for the book i truly enjoyed it, and look forward to more from this author.

Thank you very much to author David Harry for the giveaway on Goodreads in which I won a print copy of The Padre Paranoia. Not having read the previous two Padre novels (The Padre Puzzle and The Padre Predator) I was worried I wouldn't keep up with the characters. However, this can definitely be read as a stand alone mystery novel as well.

This was a fast-paced story involving all facets of the military, government and even the drug world, with some romance thrown in for good measure. The characters were raw, with not only their strengths being highlighted but also their flaws. Main character Jimmy Redstone in particular shows that yes, even a government agent can have a sense of humor and can show humility.

Fans of mysteries and high octane thrillers will enjoy this novel. I am hoping after the cliffhanger ending, that Jimmy and Angella's story will continue in the near future (hint, hint). I am now resigned to the fact that I have the two other Padre books to add to my continuously growing TBR pile.

loved the book...not a military fan but what i wouldnt give to to read the other "Padre" mysteries! wanna vacation to Padre Island now!!! THANK YOU DAVID...gotta brush up on my military intelliogence now :)

Good read. Well written. The characters were very likeable and the plot well thought out and intertwined. Very much a "manly" sort of writing style. Dialog was great between the characters fitting the plot line very well. I would recommend reading this.
