This was an extremely well written book that I enjoyed from beginning to end and could not put down.
It moved along at a very good pace, had interesting characters and a storyline that kept you entertained.
Alyssa Rose Ivy is a very talented author, whose work transports you away from your everyday life. I look forward to reading a lot more from this talented author in the future.

Now that was an ending! Alyssa Rose Ivy's Enduring Light begins with the end. Yeah, in a sense, that's true. We get a short prologue of a major event at the end and I immediately started brewing with ideas and speculations! And naturally, I went back and forth throughout reading this one, but I can say that I was right in the end, with my first initial guess! And it's a bittersweet feeling.
Enduring Light opens up a few weeks later after the events of Perilous Light. And a lot has changed. Charlotte has her mother back, after thinking her dead for years. James is still comatose after risking his life to protect Charlotte. And naturally, there's still an inner debate taking over Charlotte over when it comes to her love for Calvin and her growing love for Liam. Yes, unfortunately, it's a dreaded love triangle. I have to admit, I initially thought we'd hit a love square, as I thought James would play a more prominent role in the scheme of things considering she meets him first. But alas, he was just a friend! Which didn't bother me so much. He always made me laugh and I enjoyed his moments in the books, but sadly, he was AWOL for the duration of this one.
Charlotte and Kevin must once again separate from each other as they work on separate parts to help save the kingdom, country or whatever you want to call Energo from Blake's tyranny. Charlotte must look for a scroll that will aid her in the mission to put an end to Blake while Kevin looks for a magical stone that will also help in the mission.
This time we get even more points of view, besides Charlotte and Kevin, we get Liam and Samantha. No Calvin this time. Which didn't bother me so much. I could never really get behind Calvin and Charlotte's romance. I wanted to, believe me, I did. I want to like the main couple because I know they'll be together for the series. (Though I have read different series where that didn't happen, but those are few and far between) But I guess Charlotte and Calvin just had too much of an insta love connection. And it was almost disturbing. But I get that it was part magical that led to their connection, but again, I just couldn't get behind it! I was totally rooting for James or Liam, even though it seemed James was never a contender for Charlotte's heart.
This one was still quite adventurous. Both Charlotte and Kevin are off on their own perilous journeys and they were exciting ones. So much happened and you're left wondering about certain characters and other situations. The outcomes were a tad slow to reveal, but when they did they were quite surprising.
Things wrapped up nicely in this one. As a series ender that's to be expected (by me at least). I have to say, I was quite happy with it. Though one teeny, tiny thing at the end had me scratching my head, but really it's nothing to write home about! LOL! Just a tiny nuisance that left me wondering, why? Other than that, I really enjoyed this one! I wish I could be moving onto Forged in Stone now, which I was under the impression had connections to this series which brought on my reading this trilogy first. But sadly, I must now move onto some review books, but I will be returning to this world soon. (That is if my impression that the two series are related is true!) Hopefully.

I haven't read the previous two books even though this is not a stand alone. I didn't have any problem but I am sure I missed something about the world the book is set. Also I can't compare it to the other books. I was wrong when I thought I couldn't pick sides in the triangle. I liked Liam and I thought Calvin was cold and distant. As usual I did not liked the female character, Charlotte, but Samantha was good. What I liked was the way the triangle problem was solved. It was a little cruel though and probably some fans will get mad and disappointed. I found it kinda romantic.
I am sure if I would suggest the series to a friend because a part or two just didn't work ot for me. I would have liked it if the author explained why Charlotte was in love with Liam and Calvin at the same time. I wouldn't say no to a better epilogue. The author seems promising.

What kind of crap ending was THAT?!
I mean, okay. Here's what I think. Pardon the spoilers. So, if Calvin is going to sacrifice himself, I think it should have been played up a bit more. I mean, he just committed suicide so Charlotte wouldn't have to. Let's give the guy some credit, mmmk? Let's not just jump into Liam's arms all willy-nilly. Oh sure, you SAY that your love will always hold a place in your heart, but I'm not convinced. And I'm not convinced your relationship with Liam is all that great, either, Charlotte. There's a whole lot of TELLING and not a lot of SHOWING.
Also, if Calvin was going to die, I don't think Ivy should have had them sleep together. I don't know. That just bugged me that everybody just had to have sex, like the book wouldn't be complete without it... But that's just me. I thought it felt super awkward and kinda just smashed in there. I don't know, maybe it was the "Um, so, we're going to go have sex in the room next door, guys. If you don't want to listen, go outside." Super classy.

I liked the trilogy from start to finish. The characters were believable. I liked how Charlotte’s character didn’t seem too silly, even though she was young, and she matured throughout the books. I appreciated this being a 3-book trilogy instead of adding more to turn it into 4 or 5 books, it was just right. There were editing mistakes, but not many, and they didn’t detract from the story. I was always engaged because there was a lot of action, and I could never guess what was going to happen next. This was a YA trilogy, but I am elderly and appreciate a good YA story, and this was a really good story. I will certainly look at what other books Alyssa Rose Ivy has written.

What an ending. I loved reading about Kevin and Samantha.
Charlotte and Calvins relationship is heartbreaking. I did love reading about how Liam was feeling.
I loved the ending and loved finding out how she ended up there.

It had been a long time, I did not read a book and lived his story in itself. It may sound crazy, but I actually went through all the emotions and the characters!
I had fun with taunts Kevin, James and Liam, I cried too at times most striking (so to speak .. lol), I felt mortal hatred and anger by Blake, distress in every round faced.
This story takes place in current times in our world and in Energo, which is in another dimension and habits medieval and magical as well.
Enough but the problems that a teenager faces, Charlotte discovers much more than she thinks when she comes into Energo.
She was always shy and quiet, even with answers always on the tip of the tongue. But after so many twists and turns, she became safe, confident, and more loving than ever.
In this last part, she sees all your fears and revelations (ARE MANY! :) )
To overcome and win their battle for his life and everyone in Energo.
Lived her love entirely with Calvin, a love pure and true. Even that was still very confused about Liam.
Calvin in his own way, completely absorbed by the intense bond between him and Charlotte, his Essence. He vowed to protect his people and their world Energo along with her. Determined to make your Essence more than happy, complete. Did so.
The counterpart Liam also always been next to Charlotte, at all times. Even at times when he didn’t want to be. He felt and saw in her eyes what she was thinking. Knew and Loved Charlotte as Charlotte and as Essence.
Fought alongside all guardians, like a true warrior. Was loyal, and respectful. And patient.
Am I # teamliamforever???! lol
Kevin1A story of love, loyalty, friendship, family and union.
At various times I could see that even death is imminent. Did not lose faith and perseverance.
Not to mention the mood and taunts Kevin, Liam and James.
Kevin always overprotective of Charlotte, but barely knew his responsibility would be a thousand times, and not just about her, but also the people of Energo.
With humor and sociable, a spectacular basketball player.
Always get the woman he wanted.
The brave Samantha never let anyone get close before. But love was accurate.And who would have thought he will be falling in love, by a beautiful warrior of this new world.
And there’s no way to spend and not to mention about James. As far as annoying, he was hilarious. Insightful, sincere and honest the principal.
He was loyal to his responsibilities and honored to be a guardian and friend.
From all adventure books and novels I’ve read, this came to my favorites.
Well written, let that taste of “I want more.” :)
A beautiful book that I certainly would like to watch on the big screen. Knowing what happened to all, Henry and Rachel, Lawson, Talen, and everyone else.
I’m hoping that this series comes to Brazil soon.

It is here, it is finally here! I have been waiting for Enduring Light since Perilous Light came out last March! The Afterglow trilogy holds a special place in my heart because this series is the one that introduced me to Alyssa Rose Ivy, and my minor ok maybe major obsession with everything she writes. Beckoning Light, the very first book in the Afterglow Trilogy, also was my second review request ever received shortly after I started Unabridged Bookshelf almost two years ago. I still cannot believe it has been almost two years since I started this trilogy or that with Enduring Light it is actually over.
After the end of Perilous Light, I was pining away for Enduring Light and even though it was a long wait, it was worth every second in the end. Enduring Light is a remarkable end to a series that will always be one of my favorites. With surprises that I never saw coming and the impending battle with Blake, Enduring Light kept me on the tips of my toes. I believe with the stakes higher than ever before to save Energo, Enduring Light is the most emotional book of the series, and a very fitting end to the Afterglow Trilogy.
Obviously the tensions between Charlotte, Calvin and Liam are at their highest with Charlotte stuck in the middle between the boy she has been in love with for most of her life, and the boy from Energo she has been destined to love since walking through those garden gates. While love triangles are something that is over used and most times done poorly, Alyssa Rose Ivy handles it beautifully. It is hard to choose a “team” because both guys are amazing, but if I had to choose I would have to say I always go for the childhood love of the boy next door. With alternating viewpoints between Kevin and Charlotte, we also get to experience Kevin and Samantha relationship as they head out on a separate mission to find a weapon that may turn the tide in the war on Blake. I love the sweetness in their relationship and I could not help but root for them.
Sometimes when you finish a book series, it leaves you feeling unsatisfied or that the story is not fully complete. I will always want more Energo and Afterglow, but Enduring Light ended with a feeling of wholeness that will let me move on happily from this wonderful series.

I went through many emotional stages while reading this book. I shall list them in no particular order: shock, fear, hate, denial, love, hurt, trauma, hysteria, and many, many tears. Yes tears, you know those wet droplets that come out of your eyes when extremely happy or sad. I will not reveal the reason for my tears, but I will say this: I do not shed said tears for anything. Oh no sir, tears are reserved only for the most critical of events. It was one of those ugly cries too. (You know, the ones where you have trouble catching your breath and are border line hyperventilating.) Yeah, I was really lucky I finished it at night when my family was asleep. No witnesses to my near hysterical tears. *sigh of relief* I will leave you with that bit of information. It was yet another wonderful series by Ms. Alyssa Rose Ivy, who has yet again managed to out-due herself. I seriously hated to have to see this series come to an end. Of course we all know all good things must come to an end, although "good" is a definite understatement. I will miss Charlotte, Calvin, Liam, Kevin, James, and the rest of the gang. The series continued where it last left off. Energo is in the clutches of the evil Blake. Charlotte is still figuring out her feelings for both Calvin and Liam, while also searching for a way to save James. The adorable Kevin is trying his best to become the leader he was meant to be, and trying to win Samantha over. (He's adorbsies!) Lots of good, juicy stuff going on here guys! I really enjoyed reading this series. There are very few that both start and end great. It's one of those in which you have an instant connection with the characters. I get seriously invested in all my characters and this book was no different. So this is my farwell to the Energo group. I will for sure miss you guys! <3 :')
Let's give Ms. Ivy a standing ovation for yet another tremendously great series that has come to an end.

I'll try to keep this as spoiler free for the series as possible. It has been over a year since I read the first two books so it was a little slow in the beginning for me until I fell in love with Energo and the characters all over again. Energo is another realm in which Charlotte, her brother Kevin, and their best friend Liam traveled into. In this world Charlotte has great power and is the essence. Liam and Kevin are on her guard and her Gerard is Calvin. Blake is the big bad. For a fantasy the world is unique enough while still being easy for me to understand.
Charlotte needs to defeat Blake so they split up into teams to retrieve things to help them. The story follows four different POVs, Charlotte, Liam, Kevin, and Samantha but they all have unique voices and it was easy to fall into each POV. Also since the teams were separated it allowed me to follow both journeys and kept things interesting.

The two teams eventually meet again for the big battle scene. The ending had one rather big shock that tied into the love triangle. Even though I was a bit shocked it ended mostly how I wanted. Great series!

Enduring Light is the last installment for The Afterglow Trilogy featuring the end of the dark era, and the beginning of the main characters happily ever after. This book will follow the timeline from book 2, Perilous Light, and introduce a different concept, therefore a different type of ending.
For those who like double POV will be surprise with an addition to the storytelling. You can check it out through my snapshots. But either way, what may trouble you is the introduction of a new character, who basically will be forgotten up until the last page. I honestly believe that the author forgot all about their lives. Or not, since the focus shift between main characters, and the 'supporters’. On another note I understand the need to create a love triangle even on a Young Adult book, but damn, this one was a fast type, and ended up with the likable character; a.k.a Liam. Yay, if you were cheering for that guy!!

Ergo here’s what more I can offer: to destroy the darkness something pretty much fundamental will have to come to light (understanding) and sacrifice to see those you love reign a better version of the Energo city. Also, the love triangle will be no more when the sacrifice gives a second change at love. And many other occurrences that will make you somewhat zippy.

{my thoughts} – This book is a wonderful conclusion to the Afterglow Trilogy. Charlotte and Kevin have come a long ways since they had accepted their roles as important individuals in Energo. Liam and Calvin are both having a hard time staying sane of mind when they are around Charlotte because they both love her an incredible amount, however only one can she truly be with.
In this book it is up to Charlotte and Kevin to save Energo from Blake, James father. Blake is a bad person who wants to do nothing but rain bad things upon the land and the people within it’s boundaries. Charlotte is set out on a mission to locate a scroll and Kevin is set out on a mission to locate a stone. Both these objects are said to be the only way in which Blake can be defeated. They have help from their mother and father and uncles, but mostly they have help from their friends.
They have a mission to complete and are guided solely by the Source which in Energo is a higher power similar to what people in our world call God. However, they have other influences through family and friends and legends I suppose. Stories that have been passed down through each generation. In the end though it is up to both of them to do what they both believe is truly the right thing and they cannot allow others to make a choice for them. It is up to them and only them.
This book is well written and very much enjoyable. If you want to find out what happens you will need to read the book!

Well, I've read worse. So the action seems were rushed and clumsy. And then, The love scenes- eeeww. So our girl is all I really don't like all this PDA and I might be in love with this other dude. So obviously the solution is to have sex with the guy that makes u uncomfortable. Um, ok? As a parent reading this book, I was all what? No! Are u serious!? Dude put u in a cell in last book. It's ok, all is forgiven. We are soul mates cause the "source" says so. aaaaaaaahhhhhh. grrrrr. my inner woman's lib was freaking out! She even has a line in here "he would never try to force me" or some bullsheet like that and I was all- short term memory loss there cupcake? Parents please inform ur daughters that in fact having sex with a dude that makes u squirm-in a bad way- is NOT and should never be the solution. Eeewwww. At least the lovin with Kevin wasn't gross and disturbing. But extremely unprotected. Hope u are ready for babies kevy. Cause that is how they get made!!! Wtf. No wonder 14 yr olds are getting preggers all over the place. But in the end, through it all, it gets 2 stars because. . . I can't tell u. It would spoil it. Let's just say I was pleased.

I was really excited for this series but I was kind of disappointed! I adore Alyssa rose ivy but the writing wasn't great in this last book. I normally love alternating point of view but it just changes too infrequently. I never like Calvin so I was happy she ended up with liam. I get that there is supposed to be this really intense bond between the essence and her Gerard but it seemed kind of creepy and possessive. Though I didn't like Calvin much I thought it was honorable for him to sacrifice himself for Charlotte and give her a second chance at love. It also felt like the author forgot about James and rushed to bring him back. This series was a fun and easy but definitely had some flaws! I would recommend this to someone looking for a light read where there isn't much inferring or deep thinking.

This is not a trilogy that gets better as it goes. Each book is worse than the one that comes before it. The pacing is off, there are huge holes in plot and character development, and the tone remains that of a very young writer. It wasn't worth buying.
This book focuses on defeating Blake once and for all, but requires a scavenger hunt for magical items before the showdown begins. There's a completely stupid section where Monty and Kevin's dad disappear and then just reappear with little explanation - that drove me nuts. There's also a worthless trip to a swamp for almost no plot development benefit. The actual showdown is poorly conceived and not nearly epic enough for the plot. The ending is tied up neatly in an unsatisfying happily ever after.

The third and final book everything comes to a conclusion. Charlotte and kevin realize that their dad has known about Enero all their live and that is what his research is in regards to. Liam decides that he can no longer keep his feelings to himself. Some sacrifices have to be made but they are made by someone other than who was supposed to make the sacrifice. An emotional journey
Enduring Light made me cry both happy and sad tears! Alyssa Rose Ivy captivated my mind throughout this series. I must admit this book is a thrilling, unbelievable, magical journey. I completely felt as if I was in Energo, the lost world and every place that Charlotte and Kevin had travelled. I highly recommend every fantasy, YA, paranormal, romantic book lovers to read this series as well as the authors other beautifully written series!! I'd give this entire series a much higher rating if possible.

Although I enjoyed reading this book a lot. I was disappointed that Calvin got killed in the end as well as Monty. Im happy though that Calvin was thinking of Charlotte before he did what he did. So she was able to love and have someone else to protect her. I actually missed James throughout the book and his sarcastic comments I was happy that he atlas came back at the very end. I wish there was more to the book I would of love to read more on Liam and Charlotte as well as Samantha and Kevin relationship and how it went.

i've always liked liam better than calvin even if he's not charlotte's gerard.
the story ended on a good note, but i hoped for a longer and more elaborate discussion on the part where anyone would've yelled "plot twist." the ending was abrupt, there are loose ends, but having the book narrated in different characters POV is good :) readers will not feel short-changed in knowing the characters thoughts :)

So I liked it. Liked how it ended, & it didn't drag on, but it feels like there's something missing. Too many loose ends, lots of possibilities of spin off's...similar to the iron fey series, or the Eden trilogy.

I really enjoyed the whole series. Pulled at my heartstrings when monty and Calvin died.
The questions about Monty at Emma's Gerard's killing weren't answered though. And neither was Samantha's dad's involvement. Is there another series, or going to be another series that follows on from this?

so...... as I previously stated in my reviews of books 1 & 2. it took me a bit to really get into them. well book three moves much smoother I think is the word I was looking for and I really enjoyed this series.

I never liked Calvin. Liam always won my heart. I'm glad he won Charlotte 's. Overall I'm glad he won in the end. I'm glad Charlotte found her mother and now her world is truly set right.

Kinda glad this series is over. I enjoyed it, but it felt rushed here at the end. I am very glad the main character ended up with the character she did. I couldn't stand the other one.

Wow what a ending! I loved this series! So sad it's over! I'm glad I took the time to read this. It has been come another favorite from Alyssa!
