The author gave me a copy of Maureen for an honest review.

This vampire book is not the typical sex or gore story. Mark Mackey made it his own by using teenage rivalry, love, a strong desire for revenge, as well as suspense, in a world where vampires try to live peacefully among humans, who are fully aware or their existence, while needing to feed... He writes about other creatures as well.

I have to admit that I originally found Maureen a bit hard to follow because the story continuously jumps from the point of view of one of the many characters to another, but once I got use to the author's style of writing (which might be ideal for the screen) it wasn't so bad.

The author managed to keep me intrigued and interested in finding out what happens next.

I must say however, that although the story was good, I personally found that sometimes the way characters spoke to each other didn't feel natural and also often lacked emotions. The dialogue between the characters at the end during an original bonus interview was much more realistic though, so again I will say that I think the author would be really good at writing a movie script. He defenetly has good ideas.

I am guilty of having given up on some books after only reading a few pages, but this was not the case for Maureen because it was entertaining from the start. The novel was long in terms of the pages, but I never feel like anything was dragging on and rather enjoyed reading it.

Looking for an exciting horror story with vampires? Look no further. Maureen A Vampire Tale is that and so much more, since it dabbles in the supernatural realm which includes werewolves, demon half breeds and briefly, ghosts.

The story is broken into three parts. In the first, you'll be drawn into high school student Maureen Rogers' life, meet her family, friends and adversaries, and experience her love for her boyfriend, Peter. Tragedies unfold that change Maureen's life forever. Part two is based in New York, where Maureen learns how to deal with her new knowledge and abilities. Finally, in part three, Maureen sets forth a plan to take revenge for her tragedies. The intense build up made for a great ending!

Lots of characters are in this book and the author, Mr. Mark Mackey, has a unique way of getting in their head and showing the reader each character's actions and emotions.

I was giving this book by the author for an honest review and must say, it is a fantastic, thrilling book. I recommend it for readers, Young Adult and older.

Maureen: A Vampire Tale: Special Edition (Undead Girl series #2) by Mark Mackey is a fun filled and quick paced high school student vampire story about Maureen Rogers and her best friends and her enemies. As she turns eighteen dramas unfold in her life at school although she is madly in love with her boyfriend Peter and has good friends. In retaliation for refusing to tutor one of the popular but mean girls she becomes the target of their violent revenge.
The book is full of Vampires on cemeteries, some good some bad. It is fun as much as it is scary. As you would expect Maureen undergoes some changes and comes into her own eventually, seeking revenge and getting help from several unexpected sources.
This is great fun, full of action and nail biting situations and written in an accessible, easy and life-like dialogue. There are some parts that could do with some re-editing where slang and Vampire speech mix but nothing that should take the fans of the genre out of their enjoyment. A promising writer.

A griping tale of revenge! Loved the story and the characters. I really could put my feet in Maureen's shoes when having to deal with bullies. I've been there. I could easily relate. I really didn't like Chelsea all that much. I thought they all got what they deserved. It held my interest throughout.

Maureen is just a sweet, normal teenager who is intensely disliked by fellow high school student, Chelsea. When she turns 18, all that she knows changes when a devastating act of violence against her, and her love takes place.
In walks an unlikely hero, who sets out to right this wrong, and well ... no spoilers. ;)
Maureen sets off to adjust to her new "life", and learns how to "adapt" to an untaught, new way of life before she sets out for revenge on those responsible for her heartache.
I so enjoyed this, and I must just add, I am not a devout fan of elements as such. I didn't find it a typical vampire story, but enjoyed the fact that there were werewolves and the introduction of guzzers. Watch out for these guzzers ... I have a feeling we will be getting to read a lot more about them later on.
There are three main elements that are played out in this story, and then there is a splash of good old-fashioned love.
I like this so much.
I enjoyed the drama, the action and all the elements involved just fit so well.
I have no hesitation in recommending Maureen: A Vampire Tale and can't wait to read Mark Mackey's other books.
I am a fan!

this book is about a teenager Maureen who recently turned vampire and her not so much of a friend but more enemy who she getting revenge on sin e she's learned to use her. vampire abilities. Chelsea. she's just a b#t#h in my book. I don't like her.
but Maureen has the perfect life and buff and boyfriend and a m poo t her who loves her and vise versa. so as the book goes on were introduced to more supernatural characters such as Guzzlers. New twist for any book.
I think it's a bit t hard to follow as the book kind of jumps around. but in the end it kinda all comes together. it's n I t badly. written but more of something like a s green play. I think it would make a good movie.
so I do recommend it.

I was given this book for a honest review.

Mark Mackey continues on his paranormal journey with a story about a different undead girl named Maureen. Maureen is a teenager whose life was turned upside down by a bully. Through fast pace action and drama, Mark shows how Maureen matures and becomes an independent female vampire. A great read for anyone entering the paranormal genre and is not ready for, or does not like extreme gore.
