It was a romance that the world would never understand. He was a big bad wolf; she was just a young woman with no self-respect.
Little Red Riding Hood knows it’s wrong. She knows their needs would never match. Yet she finds herself inexplicably drawn to Mr Wolf and his ‘specific tastes’.
Repetitive, badly written and poorly edited, ‘Fifty Shades of Red Riding Hood’ has all the ingredients necessary to become a runaway success.
This is a short story with only 6500 words, but geez, these words are freaking hot!
I must preface this review by admitting the following...
1. I have never read Twilight 2. I have never read 50 Shades of Grey 3. I have not yet seen the 50 Shades of Grey movie
I really didn't expect much from this little story, but wow, I was honestly pleasantly surprised! FIFTY SHADES OF RED RIDING HOOD was absolutely hilarious!!! And, had I actually partaken of the aforementioned sources, I'm sure I would have LOL'ed even more than I did. That said, it was still funny, and I still recognized some of the spoofs on the most major ridiculous parts of 50 Shades.
Basically, a naive, virgin (Little Red Riding Hood) meets her match (The Wolf) and realizes that she is suddenly and completely overcome with a need to have sex with him. However, The Wolf has ulterior motives, which Little Red Riding Hood doesn't fully realize until the very last page of the story.
The author concludes the story with a statement on domestic violence and physical abuse, which I really didn't expect to see -- but this was absolutely a welcome addition to the story, for sure.
If you love the idea of mocking 50 Shades of Grey while screwing up a favorite childhood bedtime story, give this one a try. I read it for free with my Kindle Unlimited subscription, and hey, you really can't beat a free laugh, right?
As someone who hasn't read anything remotely 50 Shades-ish, I wondered if this would mean anything to me. But I found it very easy to pick up on the satirical side while still enjoying a very funny tale.
The basic premise is the Red Riding Hood story told as if it were modern erotica - or at least, that's what the titular character wishes it was! Her efforts to ensnare the Big Bad Wolf in her fantasies had me properly laughing aloud. There's a surprising amount of word-gems to be enjoyed. 'Lady juice cocktail', 'statistically useful sample size' and 'rhythmic thrashing, slamming and pounding' all gave me the giggles.
I see there are some reviewers who have trashed this book for being badly-written, repetitive and an all-round poor piece of work. Remember this is a PARODY of a book which is genuinely all of those things! These are deliberate choices by the author to both make a point and get some laughs - this is not a 'real' badly-written book. The serious note at the end should make the author's actual opinions clear.
This works as a stand-alone read as well as a parody. Good fun.
1.5-2 stars - not even shelving this one.... Free Kindle book - don't pay for it!
It's a very short parody of "50 Shades of Gray", and it's very funny (LOL funny) in several spots. But you have to be familiar with 50 Shades before it makes any sense. (Inner goddess, contracts, etc.) Then again, the story doesn't make any sense in any real way... it's not supposed to.
Lots of misspellings and the like. Only bother with this IF you've read 50 Shades and IF you get the book free. Don't pay for it.
I thought this was so funny and a metaphor of a good many relationships. Innocent but curious Red Riding Hood is so enthralled by the big bad wolf that she throws caution and common sence to the wind just to see what might happen. I though it was well written, extremely creative and more than a little funny that where most women can find drama, intrigue and romance in the strangest places sometimes men just aren't that complicated and are happy to be taken at face value. I did not read the books this one has parodied but very much appreciated the disclaimer at the end.
I learnt of the existence of this short parody when a Facebook friend posted a link to its Amazon.co.uk page. Although I have not read the original work it is sending up, I have been exposed to enough reviews and snippets to appreciate the humour.
It was made all that more funny having recently read Anne Rice's The Wolf Gift with its scenes of werewolf-human nookie.
I also appreciated the end note by R. R. Hood which does make a serious point.
Pretty funny how there is a good combination of Fifty Shades and Twilight as well. I thought it was funny and a well written parody of the two novels. The situation was quite ridiculous much like the plot of the Fifty Shades books. Sorry to any fans out there, but I read book one and stopped. I liked that it made me literally laugh out loud. That's rare so when a piece of work can do that I say kudos!!
I could not stop laughing. Several times, I found myself putting down my Kindle in order not to cause a scene in public. The book captures the terrible writing found within Fifty Shades of Grey, as well as, the bad narration. If you hated Fifty Shades of Grey, then this might be the short story for you.
Moral intention was good and definitely sticks it to Fifty Shades but writing was terrible, a lot of grammatical problems and repetition.... errrgh or something... so annoying.
this was a quickie. and i very rarely give one star but for me this was it. the original fifty shades wasn't as great for me as it was for others. however, i thought this parody would've been an interesting and fun twist. but i just couldn't get into it.
This is based on Fifty Shades of Grey. Editing is horrible, but the story was somewhat funny and was trying to convey a message about abusive relationships.
I downloaded this for free from Kindle. It is a short, swassy, erotic (inc. beastiality) fairy tale with a not so happy ending, and supposedly a message.
Only 6500 words in this short story with adult humor. If you've read 50 shades of grey you will see some similarities, but the ending is not what you expect it to be.
This one could have been so much better, but considering what I've heard about the work it parodies (Fifty Shades of Gray), which I have not read, I'm not surprised by it.
OMG! This made me LOL!! Terrible writing, no editing whatsoever, but totally hilarious spoof on the FSOG trilogy! Absolutely ridiculous and entertaining very short story!!
