WEREWOLF BOUND - HEART OF A WOLF SERIES - ADAM'S TALE
Adam Channing knows the rules…during the Full Moon Phase— DON’T GO IN THE WOODS. Yet, he can’t ignore the call of a young female werewolf Patricia DuFur. He knows it’s against pack rules, but can’t resist the temptation and faces the consequences when her three brothers attack and leave him to die.
With Blake as a friend, he is well on his way to learning the ways of being a werewolf. Adams is constantly in a state of change when he receives the gift of “Seer”. His life takes on a whole new meaning out in the forest.
MaryLynn Bast resides in Las Vegas when she is not traveling the world with her job as a contractor with the US Military. Bast enjoys writing paranormal fantasy romance erotica stories because she can allow her imagination to run rampant, her characters can obtain abilities not possible in the real world...or are they?
This was an excellent introduction into Bast's werewolf world. It sets the standards and lays out the hierarchy, and gives you some insight on the background of the characters. Adam started out as a pawn in Patricia's scheme to not mate with the wolf her father selected for her. She wanted her brothers to change Adam so she could mate with him instead. But her brothers had other ideas for the human which included leaving Adam to bleed to death in the middle of the woods. Luckily for Adam, Blake happened along and changed him before his body gave out. So Adam became part of his pack and really wanted nothing to do with Patricia, who had sat back and watched as her brothers tortured him. Unbeknowenst to Adam, change was not quite done with him. He is sent on a mission to help Blake track down Amber. Throughout the story, Adam is learning, growing, and almost dies once again. He receives guidance from an unknown source outside his body as Seriana heals his body. You get a brief introduction to Seriana, but to me she is far the most fascinating creature. This little short is extremely well written and chalked full of info. It is well worth it to dip into this book before starting the series!! Great Read!!!
This story starts with Adam being attacked by some wolves. He is human and left for dead, until Blake bites him and changes him. Blake takes care of him and brings him back to proper health. I found the beginning of this story very exciting. I loved the whole storyline of a human who knows about wolves then being changed into one out of necessity. The fight was dramatic and full of action, and that’s what I love to see.
And then Adam begins his first shift, and I was completely enthralled. Really, the whole story for me could have revolved around that little bit. The detail was fabulous. It’s not a shift where you are suddenly a wolf, no, it’s a shift where every little bit hurts. Just like I would think it would. There is definite pain, and when its complete, there is definite freedom. I really loved this whole section, and how the author didn’t gloss over this momentous occasion in Adam’s life.
Blake begins to educate Adam a bit more on wolves now that he is one. He explains heartofawolf.com and how it shows the region leaders and maps. I just love when authors bring an actual website into a story, it gives such an added depth. I find it really exciting.
As the story moved on I was still quite interested, but it felt like there were a couple gaps in the storyline. I would love to see this fleshed out a bit more, because a few things just felt out of place to me. I love the whole Amber storyline and I hope to find out more about her as the series continues on. She seems like a very interesting character and I just know there is a story there.
But then a little too quickly that part is over, and Seriana enters. Honestly, I am not sure how I feel about her addition. I think I would have to read more of the series to see how it plays out, but currently it just felt a little out of place to me.
Overall I really enjoyed this story, even if some parts felt a bit rushed. Like I said, the detail of some things was just superb and I would purchase the book for those parts alone. I really enjoyed Adam and Blake, and I felt that had really good chemistry together. This is the second story I’ve read from MaryLynn Bast, and again, I am not disappointed. If you like shifter stories, I think this series is definitely one to keep an eye on. I have a feeling there are some good surprises in store!
Werewolf Bound is a short story prequel on Adam's story on how his life was affect by being changed into a werewolf. I have not read No Remorse, yet. Based on this story I can't wait. Adam's Tale is just a teaser for No Remorse. MaryLynn Bast made sure once you read this, that you would definitely need more and have to read No Remorse. This story, although short, still had a lot going on, there was constantly drama somewhere. MaryLynn's creativity kept her readers enthralled. I highly recommend this story but I must warn you, once you read this, your definitely going to want to read the next chapter.
Adam has gotten himself into a lot of trouble by dating Patricia, who is a werewolf. After Patricia has set him up and her brothers have left Adam for dead, Blake steps in to save him the only way he knows how, and that's to turn Adam into a werewolf.
After Blake has nursed Adam back to health and teaches him what he needs to know about being a werewolf, Blake is sent out of town to do some pack business. Adam is left in the hands of Gabriel, the head of their pack and Council member for werewolf. Gabriel has Adam working on his farm to help keep him away from Patricia and out of trouble (somewhat).
Adam is informed that is father is missing and has been for sometime. No one has seen or heard from him in months. Blake was sent to find him or any information concerning him but has no such luck.
Blake is then sent to keep watch over Amber, Gabriel's Granddaughter. Adam is sent shortly after to help Blake. When Adam get's to the halfway house where they were staying, all hell breaks loose and Amber goes on the run.
Blake and Adam are on the road searching for Amber. On this journey Adam learns more about himself than he could have ever imagined, so much more than just being a werewolf. However, we will not know the extent of it till we read No Remorse.
Nice and slow, Werewolf Bound's story introduce you to Adam, a human male working for a werewolves pack, actually, all his family have been working for that pack, so Adam's knows a little about those creatures. Adam will be (without permission, but for his own survival) turned into a werewolf and will have to leave his family and go live with his sire.
The story had an exciting starts and quite entertaining. Filled with action, we don't really understand what's happening at first, but soon enough, everything is taking place and the reader will learn a little bit more about the rule within a pack of werewolves.
The Goods: after reading a few stories from Ms. Bast, it was great to read from a male point of view. It was also interesting to read from a human being turned into these creatures and discovering this new world with a different and fresh eye. I liked how Adam was getting in fight with other wolves especially with the females werewolves, stuck between doing the right thing or listening his new inner wolf!?! We also learn about Blake, another great character and his future purpose in the rest of this series. I can already imagine some great scenes with him in it :P The end really surprised me, I didn't see this one coming and I like to be surprise! Good, Good, Good!
The Bads: I don't know if it's bad and I already mentioned this in past reviews for books from MaryLynn Bast, but her stories are too short! All her stories have the potential to be more developed, give more to the readers and actually, when I finished this story, I was like I missed something. Werewolf Bound is the third book of Heart of the Wolf series so I guess we might learn more about Adam's destiny in other books?
Overall, this series is a must try if you are in for a werewolf story. I recommend this book and the entire series to every PNR lovers, Werewolf Bound isn't really a romantic story, but part of the series, you can't let this one behind!
Title: Werewolf Bound Author: MaryLynn Bast Page count: 113 Genre: Paranormal romance My rating: 5/5 Publisher: Werewolf Tails Publishing Published: July 3rd, 2012 Summary:Adam Channing knows the rules…during the Full Moon Phase— DON’T GO IN THE WOODS. My thoughts: I love how you can read these books out of order. It makes it much easier when you have random books. I do like the writing style of the book and Adam’s story was a awesome read. His personality was bright and he looked up even when things were going down. That made it easy to connect with the character and LOVE him.
The Review: The setting; Werewolf Bound mainly stays in one location throughout the story, and only switches location near the end. Keeping it in one location made is less confusing to read and being a shorter read that is important. The characters: Adam - A cheery person, we finally get to see what he was like from the little we saw him in the other books. It was also nice seeing more of him and understanding him better. Blake- The character who sends off mixed vibes and sent me from hating him one moment to loving him the next. He drove me nuts. So the way she throughs characters together in the werewolf concept make it unique and to my liking. The way that wolves treat females is enough to want them to all die. (I’m nice) Will I read the others? Yes, I will.

This is a short sweet tale that takes place in the world of the Heart of A Wolf Series. While I have read book one in the series, No Remorse, I must admit that I do not recall much about Adam and if my memory serves he has only short role. In this novella we are introduced to Adam and learn how he became a part of this world. I really enjoy this authors' writing style and must admit to being a fan of the series and now a fan of Adam. The story was well written and definitely a wonderful addition to the overall series. I look forward to reading more about Adam and at the very least, now having a better understanding of what brought him to his current position. This is a very short story and if anything I would love more; however, it can definitely be read as a standalone as a real tasty bite. I received this book from the author with a request for my honest review without any compensation whatsoever, other than the joy of reading a new book.
When I found out that MaryLynn was having a blog tour for Werewolf Bound, from her Heart of a Wolf Series, I jumped on, no questions asked. At the time, I hadn’t read any of the series, but I’d heard so many wonderful things about it, I had to join in. I’m so glad I did. I was told that it didn’t matter that I hadn’t read the first book, No Remorse, yet, because they are all standalone books. Werewolf Bound was a complete joy to read. A quick read, Werewolf Bound is Adam Channing’s story. I like that name. Adam is a seventeen-year-old human boy bitten by the brothers of the girl he thinks is the one. Patricia Dufur wants to change Adam so that he would be accepted into her family, but things don’t go as planned and he is left for dead. Adam’s best friend Blake, another werewolf, finds him and changes him so he won’t die. The story goes on as Adam learns the traits of being a werewolf but I can’t go into anymore without giving too much away. I don’t read many werewolf stories, but out of the few I’ve read, Werewolf Bound is at the top. Now I need to read the first book in the series, No Remorse and I’m looking forward to it. MaryLynn, you have a new fan. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read your book and be a part of your tour.
MaryLynn Bast has done it again. Werewolf Bound is the book I’ve been waiting on since I first read No Remorse (book 1 in The Heart of a Wolf Series). Werewolf Bound is Adam’s story. Many characters make an appearance in this book and we are also introduced to new ones. This is great insight into Adam’s background before he was a wolf and his changing. It also sheds light on the depths of his friendship with Blake. As I’ve said before MaryLynn Bast has quickly added herself to my favorite authors list. She writes with such passion that you can’t help but feel attached to the characters and feel like a part of their world. Adam is one of my favorite characters in the series and I loved that fact that he was given his own book which allows us to dive deeper into his life to better understand him. The beginning of the book instantly sucks you in. Before I knew it I was half way done with it. The book also opens up to other story lines that connected wonderfully with other books in the series. This book was very hard to put down. I can’t wait to read more. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
Mary is climbing the ladder of success she has managed to yet again keep me glued to a book. Mary has created a world in which I love being transported to every time I pick up one of her books. And this one of course does not disappoint. Adam is a sweet and loyal and thinks he has found the one. Turns out she was not. Patricia sets Adam up in the hopes that he will end up her mate against her fathers will. Things did not go as planned and Adam was left for dead rather then being changed for her. Thankfully Blake was close by and in turn saved Adams life by doing what Patricia hoped her brothers would do and turned him. Adam becomes part of Blake's pack and together they set out on a journey that leads them all over the United States in search of Amber. On this journey Adam slowly learning about pack life. I am not one for spoilers as all of my wonderful followers know. Since this is a short read I will stop here and just encourage you to go buy this book you will not be disappointed. This Series is sure to be at the top of the charts for all who love paranormal.
I love the world Marylynn Bast has created in her were series and the second I heard that she was writing the story of how Blake and Adam met and eventually became pack mates, I knew I had to read it. One of the wondful things Marylynn does is offering these novellas. They give us a deeper look into a character and make them wait for the next book seem not so far away! This one definitely did not disappoint. I loved seeing how these two became friends and seeing Blake and Amber's early times together through someone else's eyes was so fun. I can not wait for her next novel to release. I just love her world.
While this novella focuses on characters from her No Remorse series, you do not really need to read her full novel first to get the complete story. This novella takes place before No Remorse and is a completed story in and of itself. If you are interested in MaryLynn's were series, this novella will give you a taste of what the series is about and if you love the series, this book gives you more. It is, in my opinion, a win win for all shifter lovers :).
Werewolf Bound is a short but powerful read about Adam, a human turned wolf, Blake, his wolf BFF who saved him (twice), and the two girl/women they befriend and protect – Amber and Seriana.
This story is a prequel about Adam and gives some yummy teasers for what’s coming next in the series and filling in some gaps that would otherwise leave you wondering too much.
You’ve got everything from a sneaky, conniving were-girl that sets Adam up to where is Adam’s dad, who is Seriana – or what – and just what’s the deal with Amber?
All these questions and more will be the point of No Remorse.
Well written with characters that make you care about them, MaryLynn has created a wonderful short that will captivate from the beginning. I loved Werewolf Bound and will be heading out to get No Remorse now :)
Here is another short novel that expands on the background of Adam. You met him in other Marylynn Bast books, but here you find out his history and how he became a werewolf. Werewolf Bound is a great companion piece to No Remorse.
I enjoyed this book as it helped fill in the gaps from No Remorse and helps the reader better understand many of the subplots in the book and what is to come later on in the series. In fact, his story is only partially told here. More is to come.
There are some F-bombs dropped in this book. There are intimate scenes, but they are not intense. This is a book of his past and journey as a new werewolf.
If you have read No Remorse or are thinking of it, You really need to consider these companion novellas that help flesh out the story.
Note: This book was given as part of a book tour with no expectation of a positive review.
If you love The Heart of a Wolf series you will love this.
In this book we find out more about Adam. (drool) We find how how conniving his at the time girl friend was and how he became a wolf. After his G/f spreads lies and tells her family the lies she has spun he is left for dead. That is until Blake saves him by turning him. We learn why his bond with Blake is so tight. We read all about lies, trickery, and friendship. This is the perfect addition to the Series. I can't wait to read Adam's story later and hopefully he finally finds happiness.
I absolutely loved Amber and Trina's stories and this one was just as good. It's great to see the transformation to wolf and th description the author uses, really makes you feel like you are there with them. I can't wait to read more as then end is very intriguing
