The writing was ok. The world building was great. I liked the theme and the idea a lot. I liked the world that turned primitive.

"Greatness lies somewhere between defeat and victory."
4.5 stars!
This was the first book I read from Nadege and I couldn't put it book down from the very first page. It began with a bombshell and I was already in tears not even 20 pages in. Have you ever had a cliffhanger in the BEGINNING of a book? Because this one did that to me and it was emotional. Everything got completely out of hand as the evens unraveled and all I could do was sit and watch it all happen with not chance of helping.
This was... intense, to say the last. It takes place in 2065 and the Princess, a Warrior, is fighting for what she knows in her heart is right. Even if that means engaging in a forbidden romance with a Hunter, an enemy to Warriors.
I absolutely adore the fact that this was a dual POV. Not only did I get the chance to be in the Princess' (Echo) head but in an amazing man's (Ayden) as well. Echo and Ayden are such fantastic, strong, and well thought out characters that are worthy of everybody's respect. Their hearts are always in the right place even if they did execute some of their actions in the wrong way. It was impossible for me not to hurt every time they did. This was a beautiful but brutal journey. It was heartbreaking to read about their challenges and not be able to soothe their hearts. With that said, I absolutely need more!!!
Nadege is now one of my favorite authors!

First off I would like to thank the very talented and wonderful author Nadege Richards for an ARC of this book... You really made my day!!!

This has to undoubtedly be one of the best books I have read this year....The story of Echo and Ayden is beautifully told and every sentence leaves you hanging on for the next one.

You cannot help but fall in love with these two main characters as they take you along, on their journey of discovering true love and that it is worth fighting for.

I have just discovered one of my new favourite authors and cannot wait to read the next instalment of this wonderful trilogy....

I will be recommending this book to everyone I know!!!!

*I received a free PDF version of this novel from the author for my honest review.*

This is a dystopian novel of a world where there is a New Haven and an Old Haven.

Echo is from the New Haven world. She is the Princess of Thediby, the one that will combine two families together with her marriage to Prince Noah, Prince of Delentia.

Ayden is from Old Haven, a world that has been picked apart and left in ruins. Work is hard to come by, money is something everyone wishes they have, and just making it to tomorrow is a blessing.

When Echo and Ayden meet, worlds collide. They can't stop thinking about each other. Even though their friendship is forbidden, they have to see each other or they feel as if a part of themselves is missing.

But when Noah finds out and then Echo's father, the King, finds out, things go very wrong. Echo is forbidden to see Ayden again. She can't accept that fate, so she defies the rules and runs away.

Only the King put out a reward for anyone to find both Echo and Ayden to bring them back to New Haven.

Will Echo and Ayden be able to escape from her father's rules? Will they always be running for their freedom to be with each other? Or will the King win and separate the two...for good? Read Burning Bridges by Nadège Richards to find out!

My Thoughts/Reflections
This was an intriguing novel. I was automatically sucked into the story as the reader is reading a very intense scene that is on the brink of war, then was transported 5 weeks earlier to how the war started.

The world that Richards created was amazing. Her writing was very easy to follow and before I knew it I had read 100 pages without a single pause in the story.

There were a few grammatical and punctuation errors, a few times where the wrong names were used in areas, but for a first novel I thought those errors were minor to the great story she created.

I did have a few problems with the characters. Yes, there was character development throughout the novel. Echo grew to learn the truth and to obtain what was right and what she wanted rather than what others wanted her to do.

But I felt like she was clinging to Ayden too much. For a strong willed character who went after what she wanted, she kept acting like a girl losing her head over a boy that she couldn't bear to be away from.

And Ayden, who's 5 years older than Echo, acted more like a teenager than a 22 year old when it came to Echo. Don't get me wrong, he was amazing for his family when his father was being absentee with his alcohol. He just seemed...like a lost little puppy away from Echo...

I think that if the characters were more about "doing" than thinking and wishing, I would have liked them better. They want to be together forever? Great! Do something about it. Go away from the place that will eventually trap them. Not stare longingly into one another's eyes and then be shocked when you get caught.

However, even with my conflicted feelings about Echo and Ayden, I do think this was a great novel. And even better, we get to read more in Richard's second novel, Deceiving Destiny , which comes out December 2012 - so just 5 more months.

For anyone who likes dystopian novels or who likes a girl fighting for what she wants, I would recommend this novel to you. It was very well written and the reader was definitely snared into the story from the first page, making it a quick read and leaving the reader wanting more by the end of it.

I enjoyed this story a lot. Though predictable in a few places, it was well thought out and well written. You can really relate to some of the characters and their situations. The world Nadege has created is interesting. I loved the journey the 2 main characters embark on in the story.
I liked how the book started out at present day, and then went back a few weeks, so you can find out about the events leading up to the present day situation.
Its a great debut novel and I'm looking forward to the sequel, well done Nadege!

I got a copy of this book to review, and I was pleasantly surprised. I had read the first couple of chapters online for free via the author's website and it had tickled my interest. So I decided to see I could get a review copy as I start to jump into the world of reviewing books!

The first thing I should say is this book is more of a love story than an action one. Yeah, there's action, but most of the tale is about the romance and background of the characters. I liked this, a lot, especially because the characters didn't jump into the "I love you even though I just met you" trend that seems to be going around these days. yey! I got to grow into the love of the characters with them, and that's always a lot of fun.

The main characters are strong, though Echo has just enough vulnerability to remember she is a woman. There are a few moments where I wanted to tell her to get over herself, but I think that's pretty typical any time a girl feels lost and hopeless. ;) Ayden was strong and humorous but he also had a soft side. I especially liked how he didn't change magically when he met the girl. Actually neither of them broke character and that's the sign of true talent right there. It was great to see so much natural chemistry between two people.

My only complaint really is that I would have loved to see more about what happened in the beginning of the book. We're given a few chapters about it, then a whole lot of backstory and then a couple more chapters towards the end. I kept wanting to get back to that scene. The other thing I would have loved a little more of is some world building details. There's a lot I don't understand, but I'm hoping more of it is revealed in the next book, which I am very eager to pick up.

Overall it was a beautifully written book. Well edited, exciting, emotional, and full of a lot of great lines and swoon worthy moments. There's a line by Ayden that particularly resonates with me about lying. I won't repeat it so you can enjoy it for the first time yourself in the book. But it was so touching. :)

So I received a copy of this book from the Author, Nadège Richards, in exchange for an honest review and this is what you'll get.

So where to begin?

I initially marked this book as to be read simply because of the stunning cover.. I promise i don't usually judge books by the cover but this one screamed at me to be read. So when i was given the chance to read it I jumped. Literally.

From the very first line this book had my attention "I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, I was going to die tonight" how can you not be hooked after an opening line like that.

One of the things i liked about the telling of this tale is how the book begins in the present day with Echo and Ayden pitted against each other in the arena, then jumping back 5 weeks to when they first met. coming full circle the arena and beyond. I will admit that when I started to near the end of the book I was dreading it.. I didn't want either of them to be responsible for the death of the other.

If you are looking for a good read with immensely likeable characters then this is the book for you.
The only problem I had with the book was the use of the wrong homophones in a few places: waste instead of waist, hear instead of here.. there where a few more but not enough to spoil the overall enjoyment of the story.

I definitely cant wait til the 2nd instalment in the trilogy
Deceiving Destiny is released in December.

Edited to add.. i loved this book so much that although i already an ebook copy i purchased a paperback copy.

If you are in the mood for forbidden love, family betryal, and a stubborn teenager than this is your book. After reading the first chapter and it ending the way it did with you not knowing what was in stored for Echo and her true love was epic. Then Chapter 2 unfolds both Echo's and Ayden's struggles with two different life styles. Echo is royalty and Ayden is from the other side of the tracks. Echo's parents have her life planned down to the day for her while Ayden is busy taking care of not only his parents but his twin brother and sister as well. Ayden believes Echo to be spoiled and Echo thinks Ayden is nothing but a theif, but seeing how they manage to over come everything in their way to keep their love going, to keep their reason for living...what's a little betrothal. This is where you meet the stubborn teenager, and learn the family secrets when the forbidden love takes off.

It was all brillantly written and put together from start to finish. Never a dull moment in this book and the intensity in certain scenes are epic. I loved it and can't wait to read the next adventure that Echo and Ayden make together.

I was given this book to read in exchange for my honest review of it and let me say i'm glad that I got the chance to read this book. I didn't want to put it down. It had me on the edge of my seat and I was rooting aloud for Echo and Ayden and that caused my family to look at me with concern. It will leave you entranced and wanting more. Nadege is a wonderful author and I can't wait for the sequel to this story or any other story that she writes. She is brilliant. :)

Burning Bridges
by Nadege Richards

Echo is stuck in a life she has never wanted. As Princess, she finds herself being betrothed to a man that would of course, not be her first pick. Not just that, but despite her wishes, her parents will force her to become Queen of the country.

Ayden has the opposite problems. He lives in a family that cannot provide for itself. With enormous debts owed to the King no matter how many jobs he works or how much money he earns or steals. It's never enough to put the slightest bit of food on the table. With his mother ill, and his father a drunkard, his twin siblings starving, everything rests on his shoulders.

These two meet by a happy accident, and from then on it's instant love. But, being from such different worlds, how could they ever find a way to be together despite their hopes. Only time will tell.

I volunteered to review this book because the premise sounded promising. I thought it would be an interesting book to read, I loved the title, and was eager to see it all incorporated into the novel. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed in the whole novel. It felt, as though I was reading a movie, instead of a book. The way it was written, the way things fell together, and in other parts just seemed.. foolish.

I could not get a grasp on the characters. They had no real soul. Echo was a whiney, spoiled princess given everything in her life she wanted except one thing. Freedom. Growing up she knew that she would be the future Queen, but .. that doesn't make sense. She has an older, married brother, an older, married sister, and a sister that is a warrior, also older. If my chronology is correct. So why, would the youngest be the future Queen? I have no idea how that happened, it was never explained, except that everyone had their place in the world, and hers was to be Queen.

Ayden was a whiney, chip on his shoulder, supposed 'bad boy' without the bad. I felt that he was WAY too soft. He just was wholey unrealistic. He steals repeatedly. Never gets caught. The one time he DOES get caught, no one cares. How is that?

The love. I love a good love story. I do. I really love the way that two people even from completely opposite worlds can come together and really become something else. These two did not make sense. It was 'insta-love'. Something made insanely familiar by other books similar to this. In some instances, it can at least, make a little sense. In this book, it felt out of place. She is attracted to him because his eyes are purple. He is attracted to her because.. she's annoying and beautiful. They are both snarky, and sarcastic to each other. But neither can stop thinking of one another when they're apart.

But there was no.. 'time' for love in this book. It was just a given. I felt that it really missed that key, and crucial moment of .. how they fell in love. WHY they fell in love.

As far as plot. There was a distinct absence of a plot. Other than reading about the love between Echo and Ayden, I felt that it was missing a larger plot all together. The reader will figure out the 'big secret' before a quarter of the book is done. After that, there is no plot. No drive for the book except escape, freedom, and love. I don't even understand the world that this is placed in. I love dystopian fantasy, it's my favorite genre, but this one made no sense to me. Coaches, to drive people from one place to another, and fancy ball gowns, long hair, and walking everywhere... partnered up with black fingernail polish, blue jeans, a family that makes no sense.

I wanted to like the book, but I found myself disappointed. I am completely unsure of what the next novel will be about. With the fact that there is no real plot, I have no idea what they will take to the next book. The one battle scene in the entire book was easily won, quickly over, and the end.

*Thank you so much Nadege Richard for this free advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!*

I was super excited to get a free book, so I started reading it as soon as I received it. I could not put it down if I wanted to...I finished reading it at 2:30am. LOL

From the very first line, I was hooked and was being reeled in! The author has an amazing start to this book that would capture anyone. "I knew without a doubt, I was going to die tonight." See??

The author has a great flow to the entire book, she creates an amazing world. The Old Haven is full of poverty, sickness, and devastation. New Haven is the opposite, it is where the palace is, and the arena. The people from Old Haven are rarely let into New Haven. The King has built a wall and segregated his people. I love that there are Knights, Kings, Princesses, Peasants, and it was during a time with swords and arrows. You learn that throughout the book you do not defy the King (Which Echo does on occasion), or you will be sent to the arena where the prisoners fight to the death.

This is a captivating story of a Princess named Echo (Love this name, so original) she learns more about herself in five weeks than she had her whole life. Echo always feels like she is different, she looks different than her family. She has to always listen to what others tell her to wear and do. She is never happy, and always longing to be a fighter like her sisters.

She falls in a forbidden love with a dreamy guy named Ayden (Also love this name). Ayden is considered a Hunter and lives in Old Haven. He works many jobs to provide for his family since his father is a drunk and his mother is sick. He never had a childhood, so at times he does act like one...but who is to deny him of that?

They develop a relationship dependent on each other and finds out that is exactly what they need. Their love story is full of chemistry, laughter, passion, and determination. I like how immediate it was, no questions asked. They are truly happy with each other and will do anything for it. It is time for them to start thinking about themselves, rather than pleasing everyone else all of the time. But they have to fight for their love and happiness. It seems like everything is against them.

I love how the characters develop in this story, Echo especially. She learns that she is the only one that can decide what is good for her, not even the King. This story is amazing in the layers it has, and it still keeps the story running. It is full of betrayal and secrets...and I know the next book will be even better.

The author describes each character in great precision. You are just thinking of ways to get to know them better. Looking for other perspectives, and side stories...maybe in other upcoming books. I could picture each one clearly in my imagination.

At the end of the book, the author throws some sci-fi in it, and leaves you wanting more. I will definitely be reading Deceiving Destiny coming out in December.

I did not realize that this was the authors first novel...it is truly an amazing feat, I feel like this book was so well developed. I cannot wait to see her work to come.

Thank you again for the amazing read! You always know you have read a great book when you dream about it afterwards.

I received an advanced eARC copy of Burning Bridges and enjoyed reading it. Richards creates a nicely created mythic kingdom in which New Haven is divided into Warriors and Hunters. Enter Echo Abbeny, born a princess and betrothed in an arranged marriage to Noah. Echo has never been comfortable or happy being a princess and becomes further dismayed with her pending marriage to the conniving Noah.
Enter Ayden Grey. Hunter, noble, violet eyed, and awakened to passion by Echo.
The ill-fated love affair between forbidden classes reminds one of Romeo and Juliet. Yet the story holds a bit of Hunger Games in its gladiator fights and Divergence in its factions. Nice world building and faction building... but what hinders this review from five stars instead of four were a few formatting (some chapters all in bold) grammatical and spelling errors.
Sentences such as when Echo's mother is tearfully counseling her daughter of the consequences of loving Ayden, a Hunter, gave me pause:
"I pray every night and day, hoping the gods will "spear" you."
I believe she meant "spare" her daughter instead of "spearing" her daughter, but such errors, can be (and may have been corrected after the eARC) with a thorough copy edit.
The romance element of Echo and Ayden is nicely done. Lots of passion and chemistry and we root for them ... since the book opens with Ayden and Echo in the gladiator arena, put there to fight to the death because of Echo's father (the king's) edict ... you will just have to read the book to find out what awaits this star-crossed couple. In all, a promising debut and looking forward to Richards' future works.

I had high expectations for Burning Bridges. Unfortunately... my expectations weren't high enough. Burning Brides by Nadege Richards was everything I wanted it to be and more.
I have often seen it compared to The Hunger Games, Twilight, and even Romeo and Juliet because of the subjects reflected throughout the novel. I would call these assumptions accurate.
The plot is exciting, guaranteeing the reader never gets bored with the story.
I love so much about Burning Bridges.
Echo is another one of those characters that leaves you smiling. She is conflicted by her life, and instead of letting life grasp her and force her through the motions, she fights against the motions and chooses her own destiny, which happens to be a major theme of the novel.
While Echo will leave you smiling, Ayden will leave every female reading Burning Bridges swoon, as well as leaving every guy with a sense of underachieving in relationships. Ayden is strong, resourceful and puts the things he loves before himself.
He is what girls want. He is major book crush material, and undoubtedly, I am now on his long list of non-fictional females pining after something she can't have- his heart (well, and his fictionally seductive body).
After all, he is with Echo and even the chance of death wouldn't be able to tear him away.
Richards' debut novel is an amazing one. I cannot wait until I have the chance to read the second novel in The Bleeding Heart Trilogy. This novel is one that will be on my mind restlessly until I can read Deceiving Destiny, as I predict the series as a whole will be long after I complete the trilogy.

First I'd like to thank Nadège for giving me the opportunity to have the eARC.

I'll start talking about the cover change, I love BOTH of them, yet I think the first one suits the book better, in my opinion it gives of the sense of Echo as the character the book describes, what I like about the second one is the detail of the Bleeding Heart necklace, I really love that.

Now getting to what really is important:

This is the first book I've ever read by an indie author and I must say that I'm really happy about it, I got to read a beautiful yet tragic story written in a very talented way.

The story of Ayden and Echo makes you feel every single thing the characters are experimenting, I found myself lost in Echo's sad life, being a princess is not who she is or what she wanted yet she does it to please her kingdom and more importantly, her father.

In the other side, there's Ayden, a boy whose life has always been about taking care of his siblings and mother while his father drowns himself in alcohol.

Two character that could never have thought they had something in common yet they find comfort in each other, and that's what really loved, they couldn't be more different but they're perfect for each other.

This is a very well written novel, one I'm sure I'll purchase once the paperback version is released, I'm definitely dying to read the next book and see what'll happen with these starcrossed lover.

Congratulations Nadège Richards, you're an awesome author and I know you will be very successful

I received this book from the author to give an honest review.

Let me say the cover looks amazing! Great job. Now on to the review. This book was a really great read, and I wanted to keep reading page after page to see what was going through Echo's mind and to find out what was going to happen between her and Ayden.

Now there was one part in here that had me confused and I had to ask the author about the timeline of the story. That being said I was told that everything will become clearer in the second book which I can not wait to read.

You can not help but fall in love with Echo and Ayden. These two characters are lovable and to see their romance come alive is just wonderful. Burning Bridges has a bit of action, a forbidden love, lies, and betrayal.

Burning Bridges is about a young woman named Echo who is a princess and soon to be heir in a kingdom. She is being forced into something that she does not want, she wants to find happiness for herself. Until one day she meets Ayden and her whole world and who she is changes. Is this a relationship that can come together and last?

Though out the story I was continuously intrigued by the way the story came together. Nadege is a wonderful author. I would highly recommend this book to everyone to either read it or give it a try.

I was given this book in return for an honest review. This book starts out almost at the end of the story and then pops back to let you know the back story then comes back again. It’s actually really good. You won’t quit reading because you want to find out how the characters ended up where they did, and what happens to them. Princess Echo is to marry Prince Noah, problem is, she hates him. She doesn’t want to get married, she doesn’t want to be queen, she wants to explore and learn the warrior ways, she just wants to be normal. She feels out of place in her life and nobody will listen to her. When Echo meets Ayden, it doesn’t go well at first, but they can’t stop thinking about each other. Unfortunately, he is a peasant and a hunter while she is royalty and a warrior. They each have their own set of problems that they have to deal with. As they get closer and closer to each other it becomes more and more dangerous. Her mother is also keeping a secret that could be the death of her. Can these to overcome all the obstacles and be together, or will the king intervene and force Echo into a marriage she doesn’t want? I really enjoyed this book and was surprised by that, because I don’t care for historical books. I loved how well the story flowed and I fell in love with the characters.

I was lucky enough to be given this book in exchange for an honest review and I was not disappointed.

Nadège pulls you immediately into her dystopia’s world of New/Old Haven, two places on the brink of war. Nadège isn’t afraid to show the dirty, gritty side of war and poverty. And her book is better for it.
Burning Bridges is a tremulous love story between star-crossed lovers, Echo and Ayden. Echo is betrothed to another man, a man she will never love but her bloodline has made it so if there is to be peace in her war ridden world, she will marry this man.

But then there is Ayden. Sweet and wonderful Ayden. No one could love her like Ayden and damn her heart for feeling the same way. And fate would have her way and as their love grows so fierce that I found myself weeping with Echo and Ayden.

I haven’t read anything like it before. It is a beautiful and heart-wrenching story that is hard to put down.
Nadège is a debut author to watch out for! Burning Bridges is a lovely story and I can’t wait for its sequel, Deceiving Destiny.

Ok, first I want to start by saying this is my own personal opinion and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Also it's pains me severely to write this because I dislike saying bad things and I will say this as professional as I can.
I was given this book for an HONEST review by the author, who is extremely nice and so sweet. That being said sadly I personally found this book lacking structure in character development and background. Now maybe it's just me, because I've seen tons of 5 star reviews, I just personally don't see it. It has a TON of potential! It's a good original story line, and I think with a little more background and character development it would be an amazing read! So please! Give it a try!!! This is only one persons opinion and if you disagree with me, that's ok!!!

This book was given to me for my honest review so here it is.

The moment I first started this book I knew I was going to love it. From the beginning all the way to the end I was hooked and never found a boring part. I'm not a fan of princesses and princes or books like that but this was something that caught my attention. While reading I could picture in my mind everything going on and I felt like I was there watching it all happen. I was going through the emotions Echo and Ayden went through.

This book was amazing and I'm so excited to read the next one to see what happens! The sneek peak has me wanting it to come out sooner! The author did an amazing job with Burning Bridges!

Thank you for the copy of Burning Bridges!

I have been lucky enough to be able to read things that Nadege has written for a little while and I must say that she is a wonderful writer. All of the short stories that I read always caught me in the first sentence. I was lucky enough to read the first chapter of Burning Bridges some time ago and I loved it then. Reading the entire book now was a wonderful experience. I was captured from the first sentence and couldn't put it down, I had to find out what happened to Echo next. I am looking forward to the next book! This is a must read for everyone. I am so thankful that I have gotten to know this young woman and I am excited to see what she has in store for us in the years to come.n

This young author has done a wonderful job creating a foreign, yet familiar world. Her writing is clear and she always seems to know the exact word for any given situation or emotion. The story is an emotional adventure. At one point, I was even brought to tears and that is a very rare feat! I am looking forward to book two. (I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because, I couldn't figure out how the technological advances fit in)

By far, Burning Bridges is the best book I've read in a long time! I wouldn't even classify it as a dystopian, it has a little bit of EVERYTHING. Richards' writing is very professional, and despite the few typos here and there (because it's normal and it does happen) this was an amazing debut novel.

I can't wait for book 2!

I really loved Ayden in this. Great male voice here. And Echo becomes a strong female hero in her own right. The only reason we (my daughter and I) took of a star was we couldn't quite agree on whether the story took place in the present day or in the past. Either way, both myself and my teenager loved the voices of the characters.

I really enjoyed this one; engaging, likable characters and a good story. The pace was a bit slow in the beginning, but did pick up later on. Will definitely be reading book 2. Highly recommended --4.5 stars :)

REVIEW

I was given this book by the author for a honest review. (Well--after I begged and pleaded lol) I was hearing a lot of good things about this novel, I just couldn't resist. I was honored by getting to join the street team of this lovely author.

This book was oddly refreshing, I don't think I have read anything quite like it. It tells a tale of a girl who is a Princess and wants nothing to do with it, she just wants freedom. I as others can attest that freedom is something we all still strive to obtain. I read this book in one sitting, devouring it from cover to cover. It had me thinking what would I have done if I were in Echo's shoes? Me being the strong headed women my mother raise me as, would also fight tooth and nail for what I believe in, for what I loved.

When I read reviews from others talking about insta-love, and how it is unrealistic, it upsets me some. I too had what everyone calls insta-love, or love at first sight. It is very possible to love someone when you first see them, I have and eleven years later I am still happily married to the same man.

This story had some things I had questioned in all honesty. like the leather outfit the lead female character was wearing, I'm sure it had to do with the genre this novel falls under. It just confused me, what was it suppose to be? Historical? Distopian? And in the end it really didn't matter to me what it was. When an author can connect with the reader, and transport them into the world they created, that author is exceptionally talented. Nadege Richards is one of those authors. I can't wait for Deceiving Destiny!

I give this novel five bright stars! It had me engaged and mesmerized, it was like reading a classic historical novel with a modern twist. It was refreshing and original.

CHARACTERS

Echo:

Echo is the main female character in the novel. She is the Princess, the next to be crowned queen. Echo wants nothing more then to just be free. She has always felt like she was different then everyone in her family. She has two older siblings that are married and a sister that is a warrior. She had everything she had every wanted, except her freedom, and the will to marry for true love. She is to marry a Princess to save her kingdom from poverty, which the Prince is a...well you know what I mean.

Aiden:

He is Echos love interest, with his intense lavender eyes, (Couldn't you just Imagine what lavender eyes would look like? SWOON!) He is from Old Haven which is were the poor are from. In the beginning he despises Echo and everything her kingdom stands for. He thinks she is a spoiled pampered Princess. When he gets to know her he falls in love with the mystery that surrounds Echo. Aiden is caring and he takes care of his family, which is what a real man would do!
