Fun, fast paced short story. Humor is laced into the romance and suspense ---making this a quick, but satisfying read. My only complaint is that I wanted more!
Exciting, fast paced and suspenseful! Charlie Bates is sweet and sensible. She is also bored with her life as well as her perfect boyfriend. She wishes for some excitement in her life and gets plenty of it when she is pulled into a fouled up drug bust with undercover DEA agent, Jake Crutcher. In this fast paced and exciting short story, Charlie and Jake survive car crashes, escape armed killers, have a brush with a snake, and survive the frigid Cumberland River. Even though this is a short story, Robards gives plenty of background on Charlie that made me root for her. During a brief moment of safety, Charlie realizes Jake is one hot sexy guy. She has a sudden case of lust and realizes what she has been missing in life. (It gets a little hot) The story had a fabulous and sweet ending that could make anyone fall in love with Jake. The story left no loose ends.
The download on my Kindle is equivalent to 93 pages. The story begins at 3% and ends at 90%; therefore, most of the download is this original short story and it has NOTHING to do with Shiver. It is NOT a teaser chapter for Shiver. The remaining 10% is an excerpt from Shiver with completely different characters and story. Manna From Heaven is a separate original and very enjoyable short story.
My only problem was trying to keep up with the logistics of some of their adventures. Plus, the built in dictionary came in handy.
Frist I picked this upfor somthing better to read. Was not dispointed at all i lovedfrom frist chapter to the last. The only thing i wish was that it went a bit farther in. Like after the ladt chaper did they get togher what did he think of Her did he fall in love with her just a bit more but i guess you fugure it out when he shows at her singing gig. This is a one day book once you syart it you can not put it down.
Manna from Heaven is a must read. It's fresh, it's intriguing and it begs for a sequel. There are so many loose ends, Ms. Robards could write several sequels and you'd never get bored, She is a fantastic writer, reviewed by Heide Katros, Winter Haven News, FL
