The Saving
It all started with The Saving. Eight-years-ago they'd taken Skye and brought her up to believe that she'd been saved. That no one existed in the outside world anymore, that they'd all fought until no one was left.
She was taken to The Standing, a large, windowless building that spanned for miles. Every aspect of her life was controlled by the Elders, who claimed they'd saved her and all the other children they'd taken.
Skye didn't remember much about the outside world but her friend Marci had started too and one night she'd told Skye, the next day when she'd woken-up Marci had gone.
Things in The Standing started to alter. First there was Elena, the quiet, clumsy girl who had turned up in Marci's place and then there was her friend West who said he'd seen an Outsider in the corridors of The Standing.
Skye started to question if everything they'd been told was true or if people from the outside really had survived. Gradually the desire to escape The Standing and see the outside world for herself became all that she could think about doing. Would she escape? Would she survive?
