We follow the antihero Dr. Frank Shoemaker as he makes a life changing decision that takes a midlife crisis to the extreme. I don’t know much beyond that because I stopped reading at 31%.
The story follows Frank during two timelines, both present day and his backstory from childhood through adulthood. I found the present day portion more interesting. The flashbacks had some okay parts but were kinda boring. I think the purpose is to make you sympathize with Frank but he is really just a monster, maybe he changes in the end, I dunno. The notations throughout weren’t necessary most of the time and would have fit better at the end of the chapter or book. It just didn’t capture my attention so I pulled the plug on it, just like I bet Susan wishes she could do, lol. You’ll have to read the book to get that joke, who knows, maybe you’ll like it.
