Sri M K Ramachandran dedicatated his life completely to dangerous Himalayan travel, perhaps the only pilgrim who visited all five Kailash ,called "Panch Kailash" .These are Kailash Manasarovar, Adi Kailash, Kinnaur Kailash, Shrikant Mahadev Kailash and Manimahesh Kailash. Since the emergence of mankind Himalayas attracted every generation. Reaching Himalaya and stride over it is a long cherished dream passion of many. But only a few are fortunate to reach the expeditious destination. Mr. M. K. Ramachandran being one of them has been involved in his spiritual adventure since 1998 and known to be the most venerated ambassador of Himalayan journeys in Kerala. ഇത്രേം മനോഹരമായി അതിലുപരി ലളിതമായി എഴുതാൻ സാധിക്കും എന്നത് ഒരു ദൈവീക അനുഗ്രഹമായി ഞാൻ കാണുന്നു.

ഈ ഒരു ഗ്രഥം എഴുതുവാൻ തോന്നിയത് എഴുത്തുകാരൻ്റെ മനസിനും കഴിവിനും മുന്നിൽ ഞാൻ തൊഴുകൈയോടെ നില്കുന്നു.

The book is based on author's experience of his pilgrimage to Kailas. When he had done it, not many people had done it other than sants and sanyasis. He gives a very detailed description of his experience starting from the preparation, all the hardships he had experienced, how he overcome the challenges and was the only persons who completed the whole pilgrimage that too on foot circling Mount Kailas. The author's knowledge of many Sanskrit books has been used in a very good way to enhance the descriptions of places making the reading experience even better. For anyone who wants to make this pilgrimage, this book will be a reference. For most of the other readers, this might be the best Kailas experience they might have in their life visualizing the whole pilgrimage while reading the book.

There are tourists and there are travellers, then there are arm chair travellers like me. Now who is an armchair traveller? A lazy bum, who loves to travel only from the comfort of his chair.
Travel writing is quite vibrant in India. Authors like A K pottekad in Malayalam, Rahul Sankrityayan in Hindi, but not many know about them. Of late a certain form of travel literature has become popular in Malayalam. It's the Himalayan travel literature. M P Veerendra Kumar's Haimavatha Bhoovil is in its 56th edition.
M K Ramachandran's Uttarakhandlilude is in the same genre. He talks about his trip to Mt Kailash and the trials and tribulations through his journey. Extremely readable book.

The descriptions of the roads and the situations while traveling to manasarovar and kails is explained in a fabulous way. The author narrated his feelings from spiritual perspective also, if you ever traveled to northern regions like Himachal utharakhand you can clearly understand and relative the routes and it's conditions from the book. I also whole heartdly admire and appreciate his travel by foot the whole way of his journey, that really reflects in his narration. If you are a Traveller a must read.

A travelogue on the author's journey to Mount Kailash. I was not a fan of travelogues, but now I will ensure to read a few to understand the people's travel journey. The book touched upon my soul stirring my feelings, while reading the experiences. I could feel the altitude sickness and breathlessness whenever he mentioned, having travelled to different places. The tips which the author mentioned will try to put in effect next time on my travel expedition.
