The Vandawolf’s life rests in my hands. His fate is mine to control.
The price for my freedom has been paid in blood. The Vandawolf lies broken on the scorched ash and my heart has shattered with him. For all his secrets and lies, I know one truth: his end would destroy me.
But saving him means embracing the power that tore this land apart—a power so treacherous that it can only bring me pain.
With light and dark at war within me, I will wrap a thread of hope around my heart and bind his fate to mine.
I will walk a path that leaves my life and my loyalties on a blade’s edge.
With every step I take, betrayal is only a heartbeat away.

I have a love-hate relationship with cliffhangers. This one is definitely a doozy. So most of this book is a lot of hardships for asha. She definitely has many many obstacles to overcome and only limited choices to make. We learn VandaWolf‘s real name in this book. Love that! We get to meet new characters. We go on a new adventure. And with that ending, I have a lot to say with some of the new characters. I’m not sure what to make of Thaden. I want him to be a good guy, but I’m not sure. I’m mad at her sister and I love her brother. I’m excited to see what the dragons are gonna do. I don’t even know what I’m expecting because I’m still quite shocked. I’m hoping for a happy ever after but I’m not sure if that’s truly possible. There’s bound to be loss somewhere. The world building has gotten even more complex and it’s beautiful. The characters are growing and learning who they truly are. It may be dark, but there is absolute beauty surrounding everyone.
Frost’s Fantasy Universe Grows: New Trials, More Romance, Strong Character Development, & A Twist!
A Sin Like Fire is a captivating read. My heart pounded, I laughed, I cried, and I could not put it down! Main character, Asha, continues her journey to save her family, both those of blood and those she has gained along the way. Book 2 in the Kingdom of Betrayal series is an emotional adventure. Plus, we get to meet some elves and thunderbirds (as a fan of this author, I love the Easter eggs and references to her other series. It’s never confusing or distracting, just a great bonus for her readers).
This is a fascinating world with a magic system like none I have previously read. I want more of it all:
🩸Length: Novel
🐺Genre: Fantasy Romance (elves, dragons, monsters, and more)
🔨POV: First person, female main character
🩸Age: Adult
🐺Warnings: Language, sexual content, violence
🔨Spice: We’re heating up, but the ‘lovin’ is not the focus of the book. That said, the scenes do add to the journey and serve well to further the character development. In this book there are on-the-page, descriptive encounters.
🩸Violence: This is a violent, war-torn world with political machinations, life threatening betrayals, and violently evil villains. Much of the violence is battle-focused action with some intimidation and mention of torture.
🐺Editing: A few minor issues, but nothing distracting
This story begins right where we left off in Sky Like Blood. You are right there on the battle field with Asha screaming no, then having to act quickly before it’s too late. Asha follows Thaden, Gallium, and Tamra but their reunion becomes bitter sweet as you start to learn it getting harder and harder to tell who is friend and who is foe.
I loved the development of the relationship between the Vandawolf and Asha from more than just captor and weapon.
The world building when they meet the fae is brilliant and I loved getting to meet all the new characters there. I hope we get to see more of Gliss! She is a favorite.
If you’re looking for a binge worthy series, this one is definitely hitting all the marks for me. I can’t wait for the next book!
I absolutely loved this book and I was completely invested in Asha’s story. If you haven’t started this series yet (book 1 is A Sky Like Blood), you are definitely missing out!
This book picks up exactly where book 1 finishes and straight away there’s action and drama. Asha shows how strong she is both physically and emotionally throughout this book. There is betrayal, family drama, romance, spice, treason and soooooo many surprises. I couldn’t put this book down and can’t stop thinking about it.
I can’t wait for book 3 and I’m desperate to know what happens next.
I loved book 1 in this series and A Sin like Fire was just as incredible if not better. 5⭐️’s isn’t enough for this amazing story!
What I Liked: It was easy to get lost in the high fantasy world created by A Sin Like Fire. It was an effortless read that ended all too quickly and included multiple twists that took me completely by surprise.
What Bothered Me: After everything that Asha went through it was a little tough to read about her sister's reaction, but I have a feeling more will be revealed there by the end of the series.
Overall: Lovers of romantic fantasy looking for something a little different than just fae, shifters, and vampires should check out the Kingdom of Betrayal series. There was a note at the end with the recommendation to read the Dark Magic Shifters series first to prevent spoilers because there is some crossover, so I will probably switch over to that one before completing this series.
OMG what an intense rollercoaster of emotions! 😭 I still can't process that ending... WTAF!!! 🤯🤯🤯 This is book 2 in this fantastic series and let me tell you is soooo much better than the first one... I just can't with all these emotions and heartache! 😭 The plot is so freaking good, with so many twists you don’t see coming... and reading about what Asha and the Vandawolf go through in this amazing installment is just to much, bad and good too much! ❤️ I NEED the next book stat, I need answers, I need more of this wonderful world and characters, I just can't get enough! 😍😍😍
🔥 ⚜️ Book Title - A Sin Like Fire ⚜️ Author - Everly Frost ⚜️ Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⚜️ Some Genre/Themes/Tropes: Adult Fiction, Romance and Fantasy
I received an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book via the author. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is my honest review.
Diving into book 2, I already know this is another winning series that I want to have on my trophy shelf.
The FMC has had it tough and continues to persevere and grow through the challenges she faces in this captivating world.
The magical systems and characters abilities continue to intrigue me. I love all the magical systems Everly creates.
That ending… I’m so damn keen for the next instalment. I want to say thank you to the author for the ARC. 🫶
Note (How I rate): Three stars is a good, enjoyable read. Four is an excellent read and five is a comfort read that lingers with me for life (very difficult to get but not impossible).
Holy smokes! This book picks up right where the previous one ended. It is intense action from page one and does not stop! Some of our questions are answered, other questions pop up and to be honest that ending it was shocking.
After so many years of being separated from her siblings building a new relationship with them is difficult. She wants one but at what cost? Everything she has done has been to protect them. Everything she has been made to do and will continue to do is to protect those she loves. Will they appreciate and understand it or will they use it against her?
The chemistry between Asha and The Vandarwolf is off the charts. The things these two are willing and have done for each other have you cheering for them even if you don’t realize that is what you are doing.
There are so many plot twist that you literally are turning around saying did I just read this right? With the way things ended, I need the next book as soon as possible.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Wow! Another fantastic installment by Everly. This is book 2 so you absolutely need to read book 1 first as this picks up where book 1 ends. The Vandawolf has been betrayed and Asha must make a decision. Leave him to his fate or try to save them both. Asha is all heart throughout and remains loyal to those she considers family and friends. We discover more truths, lies and betrayals as the story continues. The world has not been kind to Asha and yet it has not broken or destroyed her. I’m a huge fan of Everly’s worlds and this one does not disappoint. It’s a fantastic installation to this series. Strong characters, both male and female, that remain dedicated to each other through each trial they face. Definitely worth your time – excellent world building with new ways to manipulate the world around the characters.
Once again a continued intriguing look into this Beauty and the Beast retelling where fighting for a balance between light and dark is a constant battle. It's a book about sacrificing for those you love, surviving amidst every obstacle, making impossible choices, clinging to hope, and finding strength to keep going. I can hardly wait for book 3 because that cliffhanger ending was epic.
Well-developed, strong characters. Detailed world building. Captivating plot.
“No matter which path I choose, it will cost me dearly.” “Love is more powerful than hate.”
Flee or fight? When the very people the vandawolf ruled turn against him and striked him down Asha is faced with a choice. Does she go to him and save him or flee to the freedom she's always wanted.
Ashe realizes in this moment just how strong she is and what she can overcome. I loved her strength and her unwavering love/loyalty to those she cares about. This book has so much depth to the characters that is well done! The cliffhanger was in everly fashion...shocking! I find myself loving and hating her as I hang on until the third book.
"In the fight ahead, I can have no mercy."
"Just as Malak created the Vandawolf, the humans have forged me, their own worst enemy."
It took me a few chapters to get into this series again. There is so much going on in this book, like the relationship between the two main characters, which is kind of twisted based on their past. They deal with the Fae and their escape from the humans. Tamra seems pretty unforgiving when it comes to Vandawolf or her sister despite being given her freedom. Her brother is less negative about moving forward. It picked up the pace towards the end, and then it was over just when it was getting interesting in the last two chapters, snow, monsters, and apple trees. I will have to wait until the next book to find out what happens next.
This series is one that crept up on me slowly without me knowing anything was different than the norm, until it had me in its claws and would not let go.
I am frothing over the connection between Asha and Vandawolf, they have the most beautiful symmetry. Asha and Vandawolf connect through pain, blood, heartache, grief and a longing to be met with your equal.
This book was filled with bad@ssery action, iconic banter, flirtatious smiles, heartbreaking moments, slow burn spice, monsters, fae, a touch of dragons and one mmc's control that snaps in the most delicious of ways!
Definitely a one click series that is not to be missed!!
So that ending threw in a curved ball! Not sure I have the patience to wait for A Storm Like Iron!
I love Everly's writing style. Her stories capture your attention, her world building surrounds your imagination and her characters walk their journey beside you!
Asha and the Vandawolf continue on where book 1 left off, her brother, sister and Thaden are also there along for the ride. There are so many scenes I want to talk about but it would ruin the secrets and surprises! They do meet up with the Fae, can they trust them?
"Let me sit here beside you, where it's peaceful."
So much emotion and power in that sentence! Its my favourite quote for the series to date!
No book is complete without everything that Everly throws at her characters, We have betrayal, sacrifice, love, lust, treason, power plays, and most of all family drama that threatens the very fabric of Asha's ability to separate need from want. As she battles beside The Vandawolf she discovers more about herself than she ever thought possible, but will the ultimate betrayal ensure she loses everything she holds dear before she loses her own life? Highly recommend this series but beware this ends on a cliffhanger and there are still two books to complete this series
This is the second book in the series and it pulls you in straight from the first one. The story progresses through so many emotions and feelings as we get to the end.
Getting to know more about Asha, her family and the Vanderwolf is what pulled me in and all the action in this book made me not want to stop.
Another great book by the author. Book 3 will be even better and honestly after what was revealed at the end, I honestly cannot wait for what will happen next!
Another fantastic installment in the world of the Vandawolf and Asha Silverspun.
This book was full of transformations, innocent became darkness, good was revealed as darkness, dark became light, physical forms were altered, distrust became trust, and anger became love.
Some truths were revealed, and boy oh boy, the next installment is going to be good.
Looking forward to seeing things from the Vandawolf’s POV in the next book! I wonder what he meant to reveal to Asha? 🫣
OMG!!!! what!!! That cliffhanger, my mind is blown! I really loved Asha in this book. Her strength was inspiring. This series is so good, and it just keeps getting better and better with each book. It's by far my favourite read of 2024 so far! The writing just brought me in and kept me. It sucked me in, and wow, I couldn't stop reading and didn't want it to end! I NEED book 3! It's a phenomenal series. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK! 🩷
This series is an interesting concept for a story. It’s unlike any other series I’ve read before.
Asha and the vandawolf are enemies from the start. Both hated by those around them for different reasons. Despite being enemies the two of them formed a bond. Can these two manage to find a way to be with each other while also handling all the dangers they are facing? Not knowing who to trust or how to defeat their enemies.
I am loving this action packed series! Book one left me hanging on an edge, but I’m happy to report that this installment picks up right where we left off. So very many things happen in this one, with mysteries being answered and new ones presented. The world is totally magical and written in such a way you can’t help but get sucked in. The ending of this one just slayed me, so I can’t WAIT for the next installment. Highly recommend this series!!
This is the second book in Asha and the Vanderwolf’s story. It picks up right where Sky Like Blood ends. You really need to take the time to read book 1 first if you haven’t already. There are so many surprising twists and turns in the story that I never saw coming. Friends and Foes aren’t always what they seem. And that ending….. WOW!!! Waiting for A Storm Like Iron is going to be so hard after reading this!
A Sin Like Fire, the second book of the Kingdom of Betrayal series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). I loved these characters since the first book, and was curious to see where the author wold take the story. Loved it! The Vandawolf's backstory was revealed as he and Asha meet new challenges. The plot introduced new characters that make this cliffhanger unpredictable. Can't wait to see where book three takes us.
I think this may honestly be my favorite series Everly Frost has written thus far. I love the turn Asha and the Vandawolf have taken, their fight, their loyalty. The new characters, the fae, are all interesting. The meeting up of Asha and her family is surprising, as well as the way she's learning to control her power.
EXCUSE ME BUT THAT CLIFFHANGERRRRR! Holy heck, Asha was phenomenal in this instalment. So much strength, determination and growth. I could live in these books, exploring these worlds of Everly’s and never get enough of the details, in every aspect of writing. The romance is raw and soul stripping, and I am here for it all!
But I seriously need the next book. Immediately. I’m shook.
At first it was a little slow for me, but then things start happening and I couldn't believe it. So many things happened, betrayals, twists and of course love, and that ending!!! That freaking ending left me with my jaw open.
I love this book so much and can't wait for the next one.
Wow! Book 2 has really blown my mind! There was so much packed into this story that it leaves you reeling. Asha continues to show so much heart and compassion it’s so very endearing. The Vandawolf continues to be a complex character keeping everyone on their toes. I really love this unique world, there’s truly nothing like it out there. And the cliffhanger… omg!
This one made me ugly-cried in the middle. Usually my mind is too preoccupied with the world building to get emotional in fantasy books but this one hit me in the feels. I didn't think book 2 could top book 1, but it did. Mind the cliff though, it's a doozy! I can't wait for the next installment!
Ho!y crap! That was one heck of an ending and I definitely didn't see that one coming. This is a great continuation of this series and I can honestly say that I can't wait for the next adventure. I would absolutely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys interesting characters and an intriguing storyline. Happy reading!
This twisty tale is unputdownable with a cliffhanger that's truly barbaric. No one brings the angst and passion quite like Everly Frost. This series has my heart, and I can't wait to find out what will happen next. With betrayal, heartache, and a fine line between enemies and allies, this is a must-read that will take you hostage until the very last word.
Ahhh this book is amazing! It picks up right where book 1 left off and it sure kept me reading. So many ups and downs and twists and turns along the way! I love this author’s writing and how she builds worlds and characters that are so real. I can’t wait for the next book to come after that cliffhanger… I need it now!
