Myc has been writing professionally since 2005, solo and with Shayne Carmichael. Genres include pretty much anything (no steampunk yet), though Myc is well known for paranormal stories. When not writing, Myc is usually playing PC games, reading, editing, watching movies and shows on Netflix and Amazon, or spending way too much time on Facebook.
This book is part of a series and I would advise reading the series in order… oh and also reading the Blood series by Shayne Carmichael and also the Inferi Brotherhood series by Mychael Black as characters from both those series make appearances in this book. It’s been four years since we last saw Mael and Cian. A long, long wait but finally they are here. This book continues from not long after And The Two Shall Become One ends and Nigel (Meal’s father) is still causing trouble for Meal and Cian, but now a bigger threat is emerging that could affect the whole of the Romanorum.
This is a great final addition to The Prince’s Angel series (or Legends of the Romanorum if you prefer) that gives us excitement, danger, confusion, longing, jealousy and intrigue. Mael and Cian are struggling to find more than snatched moments together as an unknown threat drive the Weres into Vampire territory. But, the Weres are not the only ones that are targeted, as Vampires are being staked and rumors are spread. It is up to Mael and Cian along with Diocourides (father of all Vampires) to bring allies together to vanquish the enemy who threatens the entire paranormal world.
I must admit I was gobsmacked by the turn of events in this book and I had to flick through previous books to refresh my memory (all three series), because even though they are not of this series one of the characters has a fundamental part in this one. There is a lot going on with many different characters, but if you have read all three series, then you will know the characters that make an appearance and you will also understand why they were called upon. Now this is a well written story, with a strong storyline and plot, but there was so much going on that unless you have read all the books you might lose some threads.
I really don’t know where to begin… hmmm, Cian has chosen who he wants as his son. Mael and Cian have to sort out the influx of Weres and why they have headed their way. they have the warning of a powerful threat. hmmm they then have to go to Rome and Nigel starts his ranting again. Then, Christian (Mael’s son) becomes involved and Cian becomes jealous. Vampires start to get killed and the rumors begin. Nigel finds out the truth about Taylor (Cian’s new son) and rants even more. the new enemy decides to attack and the allies have a fight on their hands. And then we have the fall out after the battle is won. So, a lot going on and that doesn’t even begin to really cover it.
So, I recommend this to those who love an in-depth paranormal world, complex vampire politics, intrigue, betrayal, plots and jealousy, Love, frustration, battles and new love. There is a lot to experience in this book so I highly recommend this if you love vampires and angels.
Since I have read the previous books in the series, I was inevitably curious about this one. After finishing it, I realised that my impressions of all three were closely related. What first drew me to Legends of the Romanorum were the interesting plot premises, with two unusual types of protagonists brought together. I liked both Mael and Cian as well as their interactions, though at times I did feel that the the sex scenes were a bit too frequent and almost out of context.
Still, my rating for the series would be around 3.5 because of how the good ideas behind the plot were executed. My main issue with it were the antagonists who consistently lacked in dimension and proper configuration as characters. Especially in this third instalment, the plot did need a clearer role from the main antagonist (Seth) to give everything more complexity. What were the reasons driving his actions? Was he simply a trouble maker bored with his immortal existence? In my opinion, both the protagonists and antagonists need to be well contoured in order to maintain balance in the novel, thus making the obstacles to be overcome much more believable.
Overall, a pleasant read if in the mood for a vampire story.
The third and final volume in this series is a fitting end to the tale of Mael Black and Cian. In it, Mael is forced to step up in power amongst the Romanorum, as he and Cian come to the aid of all vampire-kind. It also sees to the expansion of their family, with old family quarrels being settled - one way or another - and new blood welcomed. And finally, we see the culmination of their love being shared with those around them.
To be honest, while I enjoyed this, I did find one or two scenes either totally over the top, or resolved a little to hastily and easily for me, and it is what prevents it from being a 5 star read. The 'baddies' almost seemed to just fizzle out rather than being truly defeated, so I found the change in momentum not only a bit odd, but also rather dissatisfying. The resolution was pretty anticlimactic in many ways. Ultimately, I enjoyed the story, but feel just a bit disappointed.
I was going to give 2 stars, but the emotions btw Mael and Cian are too beautiful,so are 3.In this book the prince and his angel get a son,one mortal, created with the mix of their bloods (Taylor),the plot is a bit vague and the big evil not well definied.I read the book to complete the serie, but i hope there will not be any sequel.I think the author is really good on writing the sex scenes and the emotions, but the plot not so much. The book ends well and all are happy.Pratically after Mael meets Cian, the angel helps to make the new couples XD Christian and Taylor Cornelius and Brandn
Mael and Cian are in love and jealous, but u're never bored of them, for the rest, yes i was bored XD
