Headstrong horse rescue director Bren Ryan has been a red-headed streak of trouble for more than one man in Clear Spring. She’s grown up needling local “kill buyer” Wes Connelly, and since the sheriff ruled her husband’s sudden death an accident, Bren’s been investigating things herself. She’s certain Tom was murdered, and she’s hell-bent on cornering his killer the only way she knows how—by tempting him to do it again. And she’s the bait.
Rafe Langston came to Maryland looking for land and a fresh start. Or so he says. The sexy cowboy isn’t generous with details, but Bren couldn’t care less—until he buys half her farm at auction and moves into her childhood home. Suddenly, the last man she should befriend becomes her only ally in solving her husband’s murder.
Soon their cozy stakeouts sizzle with unexpected desire neither one can ignore, threatening his mysterious plans and her promise to never fall in love again—especially with a handsome stranger whose secrets could shatter what family she has left.
I have loved this series since I was a little girl and was given a sample of the book at the horse expo in Maryland. It checks off the boxes for me. Thank you!
Wonderful there should always be an underlying message to books, keep your assumptions to your self unless you have something concrete to go on. Always go places with a buddy. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.
Bren Ryan is a widow with two boys to raise, after losing her husband Bren is determined to find the killer even if that means by poking him with something and making the killer angry enough to want to get rid of her as well, what the killer didn't expect is for a cowboy to come riding into town and suddenly know a lot about the victim of the accident.
Rafe Langston is from Texas, he wants to know about the death of his brother and no one saw fit to keep her safe? No one seemed to believe that everything is about them, most times they off wrong. When he meets Bren he can't help but to feel over protective of Bren and isn't about to let anyone get in his way if he wants to see her any more.
This book is great. It has action, mystery, actions, and adventure. No matter what happens to the two of them but the attraction between the tow of them it is of no surprise. This book needs to be kept in a safe place.
I won this book thru Romance Junkies and have never read any of P.J.'s books before. This is a story about a horse rescue farm ran by Bren Ryan and her family. Her husband has already died when the story begins but she is feeling guilty thinking she was the cause. Bren has targeted a rich local man who has been sending horses to Mexico to be slaughtered for meat. Bren decides she is going to stop him and the problems that develop keep you turning the pages. A new man comes to town named Rafe that she develops a friendship with but he has secrets that he is keeping from her. As Bren and Rafe are getting to know each other one of Bren's own horses is stolen and she follows it all the way to Mexico. There is a lot suspense and heartbreaking scenes to keep you turning the pages. The last few chapters has some surprises in them that I was totally blindsighted by the events and kept me turning the pages until the very end. This is the first in the Fallon Sister series and am ready to read the next one.
Director of a horse rescue Bren, raising two sons now. One angry at what town is saying about his dad stealing horses is what got him killed. The other worried about how he died. She puts a wanted ad in the newspaper, looked like poster from western days. She gets calls from her deceased husband phone, which was never found. There has been a string of horse deaths, were they heavily insured, and with Tom a blacksmith,he might of heard something. Who is Rafe, a lone guy comes to find land to buy. Before long Bren and Rafe are working together, will it be to solve how her husband died, and a little romance along the way. New author for me and I enjoy it, good plot, with family, and twist to what might of been murder. Readers will enjoy .
I really enjoyed reading Relentless and look forward to the next installment in the Fallon sisters story. Often at nights I would find myself reading longer than I planned just to find out what happens next. I thought I had it all figured out part way through the book, but I was wrong! Great twist to the story. I'm now going to loan the book to my Mum to read. She likes a good story and I'm sure she will also like the steamy bit in the middle as well ;) This is a trilogy I will read through to the last book. Awesome stuff P J O'Dwyer.
Relentless is the 1st book in the Fallon Sisters Trilogy. This is about a horse rescue mission. The story held all the elements of suspense, love, romance, mystery and murder. I do think that Bren took some very risky chances considering she was a single mom....but maybe one does that when they feel as strongly about a project as she did. Don't plan on doing anything else when you get to about the last 100 pages as it was very hard to put down with all the twists and turns. I'm looking forward to reading the 2nd book...Defiant.
Been, the main character, is difficult to like. I can empathize with her situation, but the personality leaves a,lot to be desired. Relentless is used to describe her, but pigheaded beyond the point of annoying would be more accurate. I have been involved with animal rescue and understand how emotionally and physically demanding it is, yet there's little verbiage wasted on any actual interaction with the animals.
In short, I found the book tedious before I decided to quit reading it. I didn't notice any editing glitches, which adds a full star to my review..
When Tom Ryan was murdered, his wife Bren was relentless in the pursuit of his killer, to the point she thinks that the man that stole her horse and sent it to the slaughter house is guilty of murder. Now, wild horses are being rounded up and sent to the same Mexican slaughterhouse. When Bren is kidnapped by her husband's murderer, will the new love of her life, arrive in time to save her?
Sometimes the least expected enemy can be a friend and a friend becomes a cold blooded killer.
This was a great read. A wonderful mix of suspense and romance. It reminds the reader there are small battles going on in small towns everywhere and the good guys win. Bren is a heroine that combines strength, intelligence, sass and vulnerability. Race is supportive and honorable. His treatment of Bren's boys was tender.
You are grabbed quickly and relentlessly by this story. I figured this one out a bit early but that didn't make it any less enjoyable to read. The characters are well developed, the plot and pacing spot on and I am going to binge read right through the next one! Loved this book!
This is well written and interesting read. The story flows very good and the characters are interesting. I was afraid the issue of slaughtering horse would be too much, but she keeps in perspective and it is relevant to the story. I will continue reading this series.
I gave a 4 rating because this book is very good. I really enjoyed the story of Bren, Tom, Aiden and Finn. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves great story telling.
This book has a fair amount of suspense with a few unexpected twists, a touch of romance and it dealt with the rescue and slaughter of horses and the under current theme. O"Dwyer educated, entertained and sadly reminded how cruel we are to each other and to animals.
