Skinner moves to notorious Sele Farm Estate in Hertford. He'll have to toughen up and learn quickly. There's plenty of characters to meet, 'Down on the farm'. Violent criminal Robbo, smackhead Dirty Den, and a bloke who uses dogs to keep warm at night.
In 1980 mainstream punk is dead, long gone, but not so for underground punk, it's thriving.
Skinner wants to be a part this so he sets about forming his own band.
The narrative takes the reader on a journey from a kid messing about on his guitar in his bedroom to a fully fledged band playing gigs.
It's all here, finding the right people, the first band practices, the fights, parties, loves lost and found, breaking the law, home visits from the police, arguments with parents, job interviews for dead end jobs, and finally the gigs, the good, the bad and the hilarious.
Excellent read , Mick has a great way of writing which is fast and easy to read. It makes you laugh , it can make you cry and at times can have you on edge or even cringe at the things Skinner and co get up to . This book is different to the others but just as enjoyable . Its no longer set in the village as he’s moved out to Hertford , with some new and interesting characters !! A guy who sleeps with all his dogs for one . A particular scene of a police raid and dog sh1t comes to mind 😀 I wont give any spoilers , be hard to stop reading once you start .
