Madge is in the middle of the ocean when a harbinger of dread reveals that after months of no word, Lilith is on the move and plans to bring her legions of siren-demons to their world.
An ancient grimoire, coveted by a hidden coven of witches in Norway, holds the key to stopping her. But Madge is unprepared for what comes with it; unleashing a power within her she must learn to wield if she's to call forth a behemoth from the deep that could destroy her, too.
The second installment in this trilogy dives more into Valkyrie lore, especially the way they conjure and channel their magic. I also thought adding a dragon was a great choice. I always love a dragon.
One of the strongest parts of this book is the lesson the main character learns: not everything bad that happens is your fault. It’s a simple idea, but one so many of us struggle with, and seeing the protagonist confront this truth added real emotional weight to the story.
There’s also a slow-burn romance that finally begins to blossom. I appreciated that it never overtook the main plot. I hate it when books do that. The story is what’s important to me.
Overall, I really enjoyed this sequel and I’m genuinely excited for the third book. (If anyone knows when it’s coming out, please tell me!)
And fun fact: I recently discovered the author is actually local to me. Now I’m secretly hoping I’ll run into her somewhere so I can pick her brain about all things Saelfen lore.

Altho I’m not a reader of fantasy fiction. I absolutely loved these two books by Amanda. Strong characters, a poetic way of writing, a plot that has you waiting for more. I can’t wait for book three! Planning on giving these to my teenage granddaughter! Not only is she a great writer but she and her husband have created a great little restaurant here in Prescott AZ called ‘Bear & Dragon’. Like her books, creativity abounds! Congratulations Amanda…..get writing!❤️❤️
