Shanae Watson had always felt stifled in Millstone as a Pastor's kid. But it wasn't until someone that she trusted took advantage of her that she left her family, friends and hometown with a secret she had every intention of keeping buried. Eight years goes by and she returns home after having her heart broken and in need of her family. Surprised that everyone is welcoming her with open arms, she feels immediately at home. Then her eyes land on gorgeous Jason Davis, former highschool crush and present day youth pastor of her family's church. After getting tricked into getting back into Grace Abounds Ministries Shanae finds herself spending time with Jason and his adorable daughter Alivia.
Former star quarterback Jason Davis found his calling with Grace Abounds Ministries under the tutelage of Fredrick and Shavonna Watson who were like family to him. But the moment he sees Shanae all of his vows are tested as temptation becomes a mainstay when around her. It isn't long before both Shanae and Jason fall for each other and as soon as they do the secrets that Shanae kept underwraps start unraveling.
Will those very secrets bring them closer or will they destroy everything that they both hold dear?
Loved that Jason and Shanae found each other, soul connected. I just wish Shanae had told her parents sooner about what happened, especially after finding out Alicia was actually her biological child. God has a reason for everything and exposing Melvin that way released her. I wish we could get more from them and their growth as a family and their wedding
I really, really enjoy this story. I like that it included antennacie without it all being sexual. i'd like the story of the prodical child. Redemption and just discovering one self. I can even appreciate the placing of scriptures while I didn't realize that this would include it. I really enjoyed the placement I thought it was appropriate in rather realistic.
I loved this book! I will definitely look for more books by this author. I will recommend it to others as well. It was a great reminder that with God's got our best interest at heart, even when we feel alone and there no light at the end of the tunnel.
first time reading a book by this author, I enjoyed the book but felt so much was missing. The book showed how trauma can affect someone’s life, and how God and can turn it around.
Shanae’s mother is annoying, this woman is grown and still has to answer to her mother about her personal life or when she comes and goes. Her mother reprimands her then say whatever it’s your life you are grown . The whole details of how the meals was being made and the whole excerpt from another book felt like just unnecessary fillers. Other than that it was a feel good story.
Truly loved this story. Enjoyed how the scriptures were presented which matched up for each issue that arose. The way Jason stepped up and took in J allowing God to guide him in helping the teenager cope with everything he had gone through. Shane suffered so much and handle things the best she could because of the fear of disappointing her father instead of seeking help but things happened the way they did for a bigger and better happier future. Finally at last she was able to find peace didn't like that she did it during services like Jason said it should have been handled another way but she finally was able to release that hurt she had endured from Melvin, great story.
