What promises to be a terrific spy story winds up as the profile of a psychopath. Chilling, haunting, yet ultimately disappointing. If it weren't for the ramifications of the protagonist's actions, if would barely be worth the trouble of reading - except out of morbid curiosity.

The story was fascinating; yet the writing was very repetitious and sometimes difficult to follow. I suspect the translation was responsible for some awkwardness. But, I did learn a lot about the event.

This book was vexing. The story is fascinating, but the translation of the book wasn't very good. Lots of awkward sentences made it an inelegant and frustrating read at times.

I didn't give it 5 stars because some of it was hard for me to follow because I'm not very interested in political/espionage terms etc. However, the story itself was amazing and so interesting!
