Pioneer newspaperwoman Kiera Devane is on a mission to prove a woman can do a man's job, as she hunts a young coed's killer? Ace radio broadcaster Argus Nye lost one love to a murderous fiend and his pulse races as he tries to protect Kiera from herself as much as from this killer.

Kiera was doted upon by loving parent, but they were killed when she was a girl and she was shipped off to live with a socialite aunt who had little time for her. In her aunt's house, she learned life could be cold and cruel. As a result, she grew up to be an independent and demanding professional woman.

Argus Nye, still bereft from the loss of his first love, can't understand why this female reporter is mesmerizing him. As she takes chances with her life trying to catch a killer, he's determined to protect her.

I've read two of the four novels in this 1940s mystery series and this was a wonderful story, but slight departure from the first one. I skipped the Christmas one to read closer to the holiday.

This one had a strong psychological element to it that I found extremely intriguing. I like the author's nicname "crimefictionista" but on this one we should call her "psycho-crimefictionista."

I loved pioneer newspaperwoman Kiera Devane immediately and rooted for her to the end. I so wanted her to triumph over all the darkness of her past. I wanted her to get the best of all the men in the news business who thought women should stay home and have babies. Nothing wrong with home and babies, but Kiera had a strong talent for the newpaper business and lots of get up and go.

Of course I knew radio broadcaster Argus Nye from books one and two and was glad to see him the hero of a novel in this series.

The plot had lots of twists and turns and the identity of the killer was a complete surprise to me. It's new and fresh and not a carbon copy of debut novel in the series. I can see why the author has the nickname "crimefictionista."

Nike Chillemi has done it again in PERILOUS SHADOWS, the third book in her Sanctuary Point Series. This page turning ‘who-dunnit’ is another home-run for the self proclaimed ‘crime-fictionista’, with plenty of action, suspense, surprises, and quirky characters. The book follows the ‘leads’ of investigative reporter and broadcaster Argus Nye, whom we’ve met as an interesting, though minor, character in the first two installments of the series. This time, his talent for sniffing out a story is rivaled by an up and coming female colleague, Kiera Devane. When a body is found at the radio station where Argus works, he is assigned the story, but not before Kiera scoops him and writes her own story. The two decide to team up after some nasty run-ins with various suspects, and soon find that they are mutually interested in more than just the story. The series is set in the 1940s shortly after the end of World War Two, and the writer does a fantastic job keeping the setting, jargon, and over-all feel very authentic for the period. I’m loving this series, and was pleased to find out there is more to come. Stay tuned for more from this talented author.

This one brought me back. It was before my era just a tad, but I do recall women trying to make it in business and enterprise when they had to battle it out on their own. I remember thinking I wanted to be like the women who were featured in women's magazines as having great careers. Kiera Devane is one of those type...classy and smart.

The story is psychologial with plenty of twists and turns. I couldn't figure out who the killer was. Big surprise at the end.

Another great read. I love how this author creates so much drama in a small town. This book deals with some modern issues as well. Real life struggles. Takes you back to the innocent times of the past. Makes you really long for the glam era. Must say I did not suspect the outcome. I thought I knew the "who done it" was but once again, I was wrong. Sort of reminds me of the, "Murder She Wrote". Yet, so much better.

Another good book by author Nike Chillemi, the Crime Fictionista. This story has great suspense (bet you can't figure out who did it), a dash of romance (will they get together, won't they...), marvelous word imagery (will make you feel like you're there), and a compelling storyline. If you liked the first two books in the Sanctuary Point Series, this one will be no exception. A great read.
