An ancient god on a destructive path of vengeance...
Imprisoned by the Archangel Lucifer ages ago, Summit, the Dark God, wanted nothing less than equivalent retribution. After breaking free and successfully retaining some splintered shards of his sanity, Summit set out to confront Lucifer. The Archangel was nowhere to be found. He has, however, left behind his most coveted mortal bride. The Dark God stormed into Hell to capture Lucifer's one and only weakness, but inadvertently abducted the wrong female - his own.
A reluctant heroine...
As a mortal raised among the demons inside a floating castle in Hell, Amara's life is not exactly what you would call normal. When she finds herself abducted by a half-mad god, who mistook her for the woman who brought her up, Amara chooses to hide her identity to protect her foster mother at the risk of her own life.
This is the second installment of The Dark God's Bride Trilogy.
This book was more about Nala's story, which I didn't care for. Trent was the son of Lucifer but acted more like a normal human. The h was doing the same silly shenanigans which just weren't cute anymore. Everyone she met was described as incredibly good looking and OTT. I actually liked Noctis but that was about it. Suffice it to say, I will not be reading the third book.
The second book in the Dark God's Bride Trilogy had me screaming at the end! "What, I have to wait until October!"
Amara and Noctis are back and are at it full force. They drive each other up the wall while at the same time drive each other crazy in other good ways. I love them together but I have to say, he was a little bit too much of a brute for me in this one...until the end that is, but I won't ruin that for those of you who have not read it.
While I enjoyed this book, I don't care for Nala. In the first book she was more appealing in the sense that all she wanted was for Trent to love her. You felt bad for her. In this book, I just kind of wanted to skip through her parts in the sense they were boring and I was more interested in Noctis and Amara.
Luckily Noctis and Amara are still the main characters in this equation and throughout almost the whole story my chest was throbbing because I just wanted them to realize they loved each other! I just wanted to scream, "Get yourself out of the way!", as they kept making it impossible for each other. If they could get out of their own way they could easily be together...my opinion anyway.
Clearly, I have come to care for these characters which is always a sign of a job well done by the author. This book has entertainment, laughs, and a lot of frustration....in somewhat of a good way. The only reason for the three and a half stars is due to the minor set backs I mentioned earlier, Nora and Noctis being a little too "brutish" in this one.
I can't wait for book three to find out what happens because as most trilogies do, this one ends on a cliffhanger..AHHH!!!!
"I don't even want to look at you, so just leave me alone."
"Do you have a specific time frame in mind?"
"No. I just don't want to look at you right now."
Noctis retrieved a grey silk tie from the drawer. He returned to the bed, wrapped the tie around her closed lids, and tied it at the back of her head. "Now you don't have to."
Summit/Noctis and Amara on their antics again!
I regretted that I let this stuck in my TBR for 3 years, after reading Book 1. I'm not fond of reading about demons but I am so curious about what happened to Summit/Noctis and Amara.
And there were times that I want to shout in frustration about these two!
"Why would you ever think me as kind?"
"Exactly!" She agreed. "Something is terribly wrong with me. Here, feel," she reached for his hand and guided it toward her chest. "My Heart's hammering out of control just because you're in the room. I couldn't stop thinking about you over the last couple of weeks and it's frustrating me! I've had enough of you in real life. I don't need you to invade my mind too!"
"It's completely normal," he assured her.
"Normal? You call this normal?"
"My third brother's second wife went through the exact same thing when she was with child," he said casually. "It's expected and perfectly normal for a female to develop attachment to the father of her offspring."
Amara was not even pregnant! Hahaha.... Geez, I wanted to scream to both of them:
I also liked Nala and Trent - with their complicated relationship. And I cheated, yes I did, I read their story "Princess of the Damned". So, it's nice to be in Book 2 and read about "Raya".
Book Review- The Dark God’s Bride by Dahlia L. Summer
In book two, Nala has set her plan in motion to get Trent, the son of Lucifer, to love her. So far everything is going as planned. She is worried, however, about Noctis getting in the way. She mettles a bit in Amara’s life leading Noctis to believe there is a child in the works. Amara has no clue and believes Noctis is going insane. Noctis is on his way to insanity as he knows, but decides to change his approach with Amara as a result of the pregnancy. He decides to provide for her but leave her alone. Amara is confused. She is fighting her feelings for Noctis, yet his behavior has baffled her lately. She can’t figure out why he has pulled the disappearing act. When Kali comes to visit, Noctis takes advantage and abducts her. He is determined to find where Lucifer rests. Once he threatens Kali, Lucifer stirs and rises. The battle begins as revenge reigns. Amara is determined to find the truth so no one has to perish. Her efforts result in trapping her for all eternity without the one she loves. In this book the author continues the explosive relationship between Noctis and Amara. Their relationship is filled with intense passion and a swing between love and hate. It was fun to watch them fight with each other. I could just picture their expressions when dealing with each other. In the end they realize how much they really care, especially Amara. She really misses him when he is gone. I can’t wait to read the next book to see what happens next. The writing flowed better in this book and I give it a 4 out of 5.
I read this book in one day as well. It seemed shorter than the first book and I wasn't fond of the cliffhanger either, especially since the third book still isn't out. Still some editing mistakes but was able to look beyond that because the story was interesting and I was intrigued to see where she'd go with the plot.
I'm a little disappointed in that the banter from the first book between Amara and Noctis, particularly Amara's sarcasm, didn't seem as prevalent as before, which I think it could have been in the beginning. But still good dialogue.
I agree that the Nala/Trent subplot was a little distracting but I actually wanted to see a little more about them together, not less. If they were going to keep me from seeing what happened to Amara, then I wanted to see their relationship grow but you kind of get it secondhand.
Would recommend it but you might want to wait to read the series until you see Book 3 is out.
I liked it. I don't like 90% of the characters though because they frustrate me to no end on the decisions they make and the reasoning behind those decisions. I also wish Nala's and Trent's love issues were kept in a separate book (or less focused on) just because I find it discomforting having 2 dominant love stories in one book. The cliffhanger was better this time around compared to the 1st one though I found the epilogue slightly unnecessary (unless the new character that appears in the epilogue plays an important role in the final book?) I'm interested to see how the whole thing will wrap up in the final book.
This is one of my favorite books.I found Amara cute, smart, kind and funny. And Noctis was my favorite type of heros in books.I like books with jealousy, obsession and Noctis was all that:jealous possessive and I dare say he was actually caring.Even though he didn't show it he did care.I cryed at the end I cried it was really sad and he truelly loved her he was just held back by his pride or maybe he was afraid of scaring her away or he was still scarred from what happened to him in the past.I had fun reading this book and I can't wait for the last one.
Just finished reading and whoa... Talk about a major cliff hanger! I just looked for the third book on my kindle but It says the the third book is supposed to come out October but its December—almost January! What's happening? When's the book gonna be out?? The suspense is killing me here = / Hurry hurry hurry up please!!
The cover was so sexy, too bad this book wasn't. More and more shit keeps happening to push them away and PSHHHHHHHHHH OH BOY WAS I UPSET THAT ONCE A-FUCKING-AGAIN(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), THE OTHER COUPLE (TRENT AND NALA) TOOK A BUNCH OF THE SCENE TIME BUT THEY DIDN'T GIVE MEANY LOVE SCENES, AT THIS MOMENT I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT LOVE 'MAKING' BUT I WANTED(!!!!!) TENDER ROMANTIC SCENES! *PISSED*
I like this series. I didn't think I would like it but I do. I cant wait for the last book. The books are pretty short and easy and cliff hangers. I hate that. The last book will be out some time in October. I think those who have not read the series should wait until the finally book comes out.
This book left me hanging at the end, but I really enjoyed it. I felt like it was a great 2nd book and I can't wait for the 3rd one to come out. I check for the 3rd book once a week on my kindle and it still hasn't come out yet. The suspense is killing me!!
Still love the story but not so much with Nala in it as really I think her part in the story is pointless. The book still made me laugh at times. Can't believe the cliffhanger in this book but luckily I can read book 3 straight away rather than wait in anticipation for months.
I'm sorry, I couldn't finish this book. I pushed myself through book 1 but this one just stressed me out. The writing style isn't great, the characters are't great. It's just very angst-y but I don't feel the angst I only feel confused...
The story dragged on and on, bounced all over the place, and introduced stuff without completion. did not have a HEA so you must read the next book. do not plan to continue this series.
