The final battle for survival has begun…

Reunited with his wife and daughter, Bear knows his family will never be truly safe until the Militia has been eliminated. Determined to end the threat once and for all, they agree to help the Freemen with one final push against this dangerous enemy.

Meanwhile, Laurel struggles to combat a new sickness sweeping through the Freemen ranks before they lose anyone else. Seeking vital medical supplies, they travel to Laurel’s former sanctuary, South Minneha Hospital. But a lot has changed since they left to go find Mae. The hospital is in ruins and the remaining residents are struggling to survive in the wreckage.

Grace Hamilton

Grace Hamilton is the prepper pen-name for a bad-ass, survivalist momma-bear of four kids, and wife to a wonderful husband. After being stuck in a mountain cabin for six days following a flash flood, she decided she never wanted to feel so powerless or have to send her kids to bed hungry again. Now she lives the prepper lifestyle and knows that if SHTF or TEOTWAWKI happens, she’ll be ready to help protect and provide for her family.

Combine this survivalist mentality with a vivid imagination (as well as a slightly unhealthy day dreaming habit) and you get a prepper fiction author. Grace spends her days thinking about the worst possible survival situations that a person could be thrown into, then throwing her characters into these nightmares while trying to figure out "What SHOULD you do in this situation?"

It’s her wish that through her characters, you will get to experience what life will be like and essentially learn from their mistakes and experiences.

I love the cover which certainly fits with the test of the series so far. It definitely shouts the book genre out loud and clear and I would be picking it up from a bookstore shelf to learn more too.

I was approaching reading this book with mixed feelings, on one hand I was seriously looking forward to reading this book but on the other hand I didn't feel ready for the book to end. Lawless World picks up right where Collapsed World ended and gets right back into the plot and action!

When a valued member of the freemen dies of anaphylaxis due to a tick bite & then eating rabbit/meat and others are suffering too it becomes obvious that the 'Freemen' group need medical supplies.....Laura & Bear suggest South Minneha Hospital as their next stop. They obtain a much needed rest, medical treatment and perhaps some medical supplies to take with them on their journey. Laura is also looking forward to catching up with her old friends that she left behind when she left the hospital with Bear when they went in search of their daughter Mae. Unfortunately they don't get the welcome they thought they would. Things at South Minneha have changed, drastically, for the worse. Old friends have moved on, either dying due to pneumonia or leaving to try and find a safer settlement elsewhere. The South Minneha hospital building is in serious disrepair, in fact most areas are dangerous to be in with rooms collapsing. Then those left behind have also been attacked numerous times, it seems there are many people in the now hostile world who want to take what little they have gathered. To say people are disgruntled is an understatement, moral is at an all time low and there seems to be some hard feelings towards Laura & Bear for leaving or as some have come to see it abandoned by. It soon becomes clear certain people think things would have been different if Laurel & Bear had been there and as they are 'only visiting' they are now being treat as 'outsiders'. Laurel coerces Art, the leader of the freemen into staying 'a few days' to help 'her people' at South Minneha just as she helped 'his people' when she wanted to be elsewhere too. Also she reasons that Sharon & kids desperately need the time to rest.
Gideon chose to part way with Mae and her family going to another branch of the militia. When it becomes apparent that this branch of the militia and its leader Bruce is even worse than Cornell, he decides he wants to leave but along with fellow army man, Fairfax they decide they have to be careful as they don't think they will be allowed to just walk away. When Gideon finds out Bruce's mad plan for domination of the area and all in it and that it involves him attacking the South Minneha hospital he know he has to leave and get to Mae and her family to warn them.
Whilst trying to work out how to help those at South Minneha who are determined to stay there, Trent and Bear become suspicious of three strangers that are fairly new to the hospital. It turns out Trent & Bears instinct to keep an eye on the m is the right thing to do as the strangers do have an ulterior motive. Its during a fight between Bear & Mae and the strangers that Gideon comes to their aid. Once the after fight talk has ended and the welcomes, Gideon reveals the news about Bruce and his militia.
Discussions take place and its decided everyone will leave South Minneha together and travel to find a safer area. Those who are able and want to will also try to stop Bruce and his big plan to be in charge of everyone and everything.
Plans and back up plans are made, then the fight to stop Bruce transporting his men & arms on a train are put into action.
Favourite characters receive life threatening injuries during the battle. New allies are made with some of Bruce's army but theres one last stand to be made. With only one answer, one man puts himself forward to sacrifice himself for the greater good. With no time to come up with an alternative the suicide mission goes ahead.

My immediate thoughts upon finishing the book were that I really enjoyed it! I can't believe the series is over! This whole series has been full of Edge of your seat moments, heart in your mouth, tear jerking moments and I highly recommend reading it. It has great characters you easily become firmly attached to immediately, others you learn to accept/like along the way and of course theres those characters you love to hate too!

Summing up, part of me would have loved a slightly different ending but as it ends theres hope for the future and a few of the things to happen that I had hoped would in this book. It's a realistic ending, I mean real life isn't always the absolutely perfect happy ever after! The book ends in such a way the author allows your imagination to fill out what you thing may happen in the near and far future.

End of the world and after the disaster books hold a certain fascination to me. Life as we know it can change in an instant as it does for the characters in Grace Hamilton's series. I have read alot of her books and they are all fresh, no retelling the same story over and over. The fact that she can write so many unique versions of a catastrophe means I am well educated on how to get from point a to point b before, during and after an event.

I'm not quite sure how Grace Hamilton manages to keep her stories fresh and her characters realistic, but as long as she keeps writing them, I'll keep reading them.

This is book six and the finale of the EMP Aftermath series and Bear, along with his sidekick Trent and dog Jess, have finally been reunited with his wife Dr Laurel Rivera and daughter Mae, but now have a group of Freemen led by Art, to contend with, who have different ideas of what to do against the local militia led by Cornell. Gideon stayed with the militia after Mae managed to get away, both having been almost brainwashed into doing what they had by their leader. He decided to travel north to the larger militia group, with another former militia man Fairfax, but they are about to find that the leader there is even more insane in his directives than Cornell ever was. Bear wants to return to his isolated cabin with his family, but Laurel insists on checking on her friends she left behind at the hospital in South Minneha, only to find the numbers vastly depleted and conditions diabolical. Laurel and the Freemen group need to rest, but the hospital no longer feels like a safe place to do so anymore. But those at the hospital refuse to leave, believing they are safe now the local militia has been disbanded. They couldn’t be more wrong!

The main militia leader, General James Bruce, has found some very useful methods that he can use to transport weapons of war and that he can then use against any that do not agree with his vision of the future and who refused to join his group. When Gideon brings news of a group from the militia heading their way, looking to use an old fashion form of transport to move some heavy duty weapons to the main militia base, it looks like their days to rest are over. They need to do something to stop these weapons being used against them or other innocent groups of survivors just trying to live peacefully. They are going to have to fight again and against a much bigger force this time, but first they must ensure everyone is on the same page and they can work together. Some might be reluctant but events will happen at the hospital making it clear it isn’t a safe haven any longer. They are going to take the fight to the enemy in an unexpected move, which will hopefully allow them an element of surprise and the chance to cut the head off the snake that is this militia. Some very trying and dangerous times to come for them all and no one will come out of it untouched. I’m glad to see the end of the series and how it all works out. It was nice to see where Bear’s family end up and if they manage to get back to where he hoped they would and in one piece. Good to see Janet coming up with herbal remedies for painkillers and more, as the supply of manufactured medicines begins to run out. The new world they find themselves in, has to be adapted to if people are to thrive, with them all learning how to live in this post EMP world and go back to basics. Great ending to the series and worth the sacrifices they have made along the way. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Grace Hamilton's thrilling novel, Lawless World, takes readers on a gripping journey into a post-apocalyptic society where trust is scarce and survival is paramount. Set against a backdrop of uncertainty and shifting alliances, the story delves deep into the complexities of human relationships and the choices individuals must make to navigate a lawless world. With its well-developed characters and immersive narrative, Lawless World is a captivating read that keeps readers engaged from start to finish.

The novel opens with a compelling scene, immediately drawing readers into the story. The interaction between Gideon and Fairfax sets the tone for the complex dynamics that unfold throughout the book. Hamilton skillfully establishes their friendship and the underlying tension that simmers beneath the surface. Gideon's conflicted emotions about his relationship with Mae add an intriguing layer to the narrative, as he grapples with his own motivations and desires.

Hamilton expertly explores the consequences of the characters' choices in this harsh and unforgiving world. As Gideon and Fairfax seek refuge within the Militia, the author weaves a web of uncertainty and suspicion. The constant threat of betrayal and the weight of past actions loom over the characters, creating a palpable sense of danger and unpredictability.

The plot takes several unexpected twists and turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. The revelation of Cornell's death and the mystery surrounding it add a compelling element of suspense. Hamilton skillfully builds tension as Gideon and Fairfax face the daunting task of proving their loyalty and worth to the Militia. The author's attention to detail and ability to create vivid settings make the story come alive, immersing readers in the gritty reality of the lawless world.

One of the novel's strengths lies in its well-drawn characters. Gideon and Fairfax are flawed and relatable, each carrying their own burdens and motivations. Their contrasting personalities and interactions bring depth to their friendship, providing moments of both humor and emotional resonance. The secondary characters, such as the enigmatic redhead and the authoritative General James Bruce the Third, contribute to the story's richness, adding layers of complexity and intrigue.

Lawless World is more than just an action-packed post-apocalyptic tale. It explores themes of loyalty, identity, and the blurred lines between right and wrong in a world devoid of structure and rules. Hamilton's prose is crisp and engaging, effortlessly conveying the characters' emotions and the harsh realities they face.

As the story unfolds, readers are left pondering the morality of the characters' choices and the consequences of their actions. Hamilton skillfully challenges readers' preconceptions, immersing them in a morally ambiguous landscape that forces introspection and reflection.

In conclusion, Lawless World by Grace Hamilton is a stellar addition to the post-apocalyptic genre. With its well-crafted characters, intricate plot, and thought-provoking themes, the novel captures the essence of a lawless society where survival hangs in the balance. Hamilton's expert storytelling and attention to detail make for an enthralling read that will leave readers eagerly anticipating her future works.

Bear, Laurel, Mae, and Trent were heading to Bear's house in Thunder Bay, but Laurel wanted to stop by Minneha Hospital, where she had worked before the EMP, to check on her friends.

Gideon, Mae's friend, is with the militia when he overhears some of the men discussing an attack on the hospital where Bear, Laurel, and Mae are staying. Gideon leaves the militia to find Mae and inform her that they plan to attack and steal all their supplies. The militia no longer aims to help people; instead, they want to conquer the world and take full control.

The hospital is in chaos since Laurel was last there; the roof has collapsed due to frozen pipes that thawed and burst. It may no longer be safe for anyone to stay there. When the militia arrives, Laurel must try to convince her friends to leave and find a safer place.

Mae believes they should stay and fight the militia. She thinks they will keep chasing them unless they stop them now. Is it possible for Mae, Bear, Laurel, Art, and the other Freeman to stop the militia before it's too late?

From the very first page, Lawless World grabbed my attention and held it all the way through. It still sticks with me, and I believe it will for a long time. The world-building is incredible, as I’ve mentioned before. I can’t fully express how amazing it is.

I have truly loved reading the EMP Aftermath series and hate to see it end. I will miss this world and all its characters. I’ve spent so much time with these characters that they feel like friends.

I highly recommend Lawless World to fans of post-apocalyptic stories! Get your copy of Lawless World today!

The joy of Bear, Trent, Mae and Laurel being reunited is short lived. A new illness breaks out within the Freeman group while on their way to gather supplies and prepare for another battle with the Militia. Bear and Laurel convince Art to lead the group to the hospital in South Minneha for supplies and help from their friends. I was so heartbroken reading about what happened to the hospital after Laurel and Bear left. The author did a great job describing the devastation from the storm and thieves looking to take what they could. The final battle between the Freeman and the Militia had me on the edge of my seat not knowing who would survive. Another engaging series from Grace Hamilton. This was a fantastic ending to the EMP Aftermath series. Bear and Laurel have found that their love is still alive and getting stronger. Their daughter Mae has finally joined the Freemen and fought against the Militia. A lot has changed in their world but they still have a trant to get rid of. The Freeman finds the bombs that General James Bruce plans to use against anyone that doesn't join his cause. I think that I fought just as hard as the Freeman. This ended with the start of a new world, maybe a better world. I really enjoyed this series and I would highly recommend it. There is plenty of excitement, action, fighting, and families getting back together.

This book was both the BEST of this series, and also the WORST.

The nonstop action, the building relationships and evolving characters keep you engaged all the way. Knowing how much they all have to lose makes you dread each new battle! But the heart lifting joy of success makes you want the series to continue....I can't bear to think of not knowing how ALL of these people survive and thrive in their vastly different NEW
World...Bless you Grace Hamilton!!

I loved this series, Bear and Laurel are fascinating characters and the world around them is a chaotic mess! I wasn't ready for the series to end!!! It is an epic series with so much misadventure as the people try to navigate the new world that has been thrust upon them by the EMP. I highly recommend you dive in at book one and loose yourself in a dystopian future that is not very far away from here.

And the series wraps

Excellent series. The family reunites but the battle isn’t over. Fast paced with excellent characters. Lots of action but there is also a story. We’ve followed the family through their ups and downs but it’s not over yet. I loved the series and was rooting for the family to come through it, to win their battle and to look forward to the future.

Lawless World

Absolutely Captivating!

A realistic view into the corruption of a collapsed society. The characters are well developed. Even the heroes show enough flaws to make them human, which made me love them more. It's the best and worst of our human nature in an action-packed plot. Excellent writing!

Bear and Laurel return to South Minneha and find a disappointing
situation. The final battle against the militia is successful. The return to Bear’s cabin in the Canadian wilderness is un-eventful and Trent and Mae establish cabins of their own. Life is good, Happily ever after

Great Books!!

I have read the entire series (EMP Aftermath) and just loved it! Grace Hamilton has a way with writing her characters that they are easy to love and to hate ( the bad guys). The series wraps up nicely and doesn’t leave you hanging.

Another installment in this excellent series. Survival in the world after an EMP has been a difficult journey for many of the characters but to see them come through major struggles makes for a satisfying read.
