A laugh-out-loud series about a boy who is a bigger trouble magnet than Bart Simpson and Dennis the Menace stuck together
I, Dougal Trump, am dead. Ok, I'm not actually dead, but if I'm not very careful, I soon will be. In this first book, sports-loving Dougal Trump finds himself at risk from the mysterious creature living in the backyard shed. Nobody believes him but as a precaution, he sets upon writing his will—rewarding those who help him, disinheriting those who get on his bad side, and fielding constant pleas from friends and associates ("Cool will, Dougie! Can I have your playstation? —George") Meanwhile, as limbs and windows alike are broken by rogue soccer balls and unhinged canines, Dougal finds himself in all sorts of trouble.
“I, Dougal Trump, am dead. Ok, I'm not actually dead, but if I'm not very careful, I soon will be.” And so the reader is introduced to the “it’s not my fault!” world of football-loving, accident-prone Dougal Trump.
Described by the editor as "Bart Simpson meets Just William", “I’m Dougal Trump… And It’s Not My Fault!” by D Trump, is an hilarious read with strong characterisation which will appeal to all children and their parents.
Obsessed by the unknown fruit-eating creature - which must be kept secret - living in his shed, and the creation of his will, plagued by is bossy older sister Sibble (actually, Sybil) and parents who clearly Do Not Understand Him, Dougal Trump is a funny, endearing and heart-warming character. The book is filled with laugh –out-loud moments – it really should come with warning, or you may be at risk at spitting your soft drink all over the pages.
The drawings and inserted notes in multiple fonts, add to the richness created by the writer Jackie Marchant who helped D Trump write his book.
Funny! Love this Dougal Trump character. He's absolutely the typical hit-on-the-spot seventh (or sixth? Eighth?) grader, and the way Jackie Marchant wraps the story makes him even more real. Loooving it. I'd love to read the sequel!
PS to JM: Please tell Douggie I wanna meet him. And please let him know that I know everybody knows everything's not his fault!
