Doctor Me Up by Sandy Sullivan is an exciting read. Sandy Sullivan has delivered a well written book with wonderful characters, humor, drama and a bit of action and steamy sex. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Sandy Sullivan in the future. Doctor Me Up is book 5 in the Montana Cowboys series, but it can be read as a stand alone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

Ok who doesn’t love a cowboy - how could we not with all those tight jeans and cheeky grins or brooding gazes - it's enough to make me want to emigrate, lol. So when I got the chance to read Doctor Me Up, I was excited to get back to the cowboy world and leave the Dom's that I've been associating with in recent books behind for a while.
When we met Elizabeth I was impressed with her actions and the strength that she showed to deal with her ex the way she did. I thought that the story could have real potential but unfortunately I wasn't blown away by the rest. There were some funny moments: "The attraction between them sizzled like bacon on a griddle." I've never head attraction be compared to something you have for breakfast but it did make me laugh and was a refreshing change to the usual descriptions you hear for the attraction between characters.
The relationship between the Weston family seemed a bit odd for me - I'm sure no one takes that much interest in their siblings sex lives. I'm sure it was an attempt to make the family seem close but it just made it seem forced for me.
I don't normally take issue to the voices in a story but the conversations that were carried out between the characters didn't feel natural, more like the grammatically correct version of how a conversation would normally flow. Also the characters internal conversations seemed rather strange. The characters would talk to themselves (I know, we all do it) but they would get an answer back?!?
Elizabeth was interesting - at the start I really liked her character but I think she trusted Marcus far too quickly for someone that had just been hurt, even though I understand that she didn't plan for it to develop in to anything more than a fling. Her immediate trust in his dominance was what seemed slightly out of place as she was willing to let him do anything to her straight away. I'm not really sure why but towards the end I found I didn't like her character as much - I think because she had such a strong start I was expecting a bit more from her.
Marcus was unexpected. To start with he was cheeky which I really liked but then as soon as he got Elizabeth in the bedroom he became a Dom. It was almost like his character was changed to fit this part of the story - he seemed so laid back at the start and then he switches to uberDom who dishes out punishments for the slightest bit of back chat. His character didn't fit with the easy going vet that he was made out to be. I'm not naive enough to think that because he was that way with others that he wouldn't be the Dom as well but it just didn't seem to fit.
This book did have its good points and is a good choice if you're looking for an easy read. I think if I had read the other books in the series I might have had more of an understanding about the characters that we meet or that are regularly mentioned but I could still follow the plot without having read them so it's not essential.

I honestly don’t know how Sandy does it, but this series just gets better and better with each book. I honestly didn’t think this one could top my love for the fourth book Difficult Choices, but Doctor Me Up had all the elements I love in a good erotica romance a loving Dom and a strong woman submitting to him.
Elizabeth Weston has come home to mend her broken heart and to get ready for her residency. The last thing she wants is another man in her life, but everyone in her family keeps pointing her at the new vet, Marcus Melton. There is something about him that calls to her, although she would like to deny her attraction to him.
Marcus has been strongly attracted to Elizabeth since they shared a waltz and a kiss at a masquerade ball months ago, but he thinks she is engaged or married and knows he doesn’t have a shot with her. He hopes that she doesn’t recognize him in his everyday clothes but no such luck there. The truth leads to a big misunderstanding on her part, and her having to apologize for her actions. They decide to see each other temporarily till she goes off to do her residency in Billings (two hours away). What neither of them expected is her to respond so strongly to his dominate side, and for her to be his perfect submissive. Can these two have a future with her having to do a three year residency so far away and his practice taking so much of his time??
If you haven’t read the prequel to this one Masked Stranger you really should!! It is the about masquerade ball, and I made the mistake of reading it months ago. LOL .. I was so ready to see what would happen next with these two! They are sooo smoking hot together they fog up your e-reader!! The dominate play between these two is down right panty melting HOT!!!!! I highly recommend this book and the whole Montana Cowboys series!!

I just didn't find the action scenario in this book to be at all believable.
While I did find the Dom/sub stuff believable in a couple that has to be 'in control' of so much in their lives outside of the bedroom, I didn't really enjoy reading about it... or maybe I just didn't like it the way this author wrote it, since I have read plenty of other BDSM books that I enjoyed more. It just wasn't 'hot' to me, if that makes sense. I read some of the scenes, then started skimming through those parts after that.
As soon as Doms start talking about 'punishment' in a book, I tune right out since that equates to abuse to me. And, I must say after reading a lot of Ms Sullivan's books that the smex scenes are not what I consider the strong points of her writing - her story-lines and group of characters are why I read her books. I am surprised she tried a BDSM book in this series, but for me, with these people, in this setting, it was just a fail. I do however like menage books, and these have been pretty good in this series. I hope sister Caroline gets one with her twins.
There were also a LOT of typos, and the nice thing about the Kindle Paperwhite is that you can report all of those mistakes. I have certainly read books with more typos, but this had what I would call a significant number, and those really throw me off-pace when I am reading.

Several months ago, Elizabeth Weston met a masked stranger at a ball. After sharing a kiss he disappears from her life. She heads back home to her “fiance” and soon finds out that he is cheating on her. So now she is heads home to start over and that is when she meets the county Vet Marcus Melton.
Marcus doesn’t think he can be her masked stranger other than the one night. But he would like to be, and looks like he will be spending more time with the lovely Elizabeth now that someone seems set on ruining the Weston’s ranch.
I was so excited to read this book after reading the prequel. And Sandy didn’t disappoint! I love this series and I love her cowboys! This was a hot book and the suspense keeps your on the edge of your seat! I highly recommend it!

Excellent book. Really liked how the story progressed. I was a little surprised by the suspense. Sandy gives nothing away until it’s necessary.
