About the author

Cullen grew up in rural North Carolina, but now lives in the St. Louis area with his wife Cindy and his son Jackson. His noir/horror comic (and first collaboration with Brian Hurtt), The Damned, was published in 2007 by Oni Press. The follow-up, The Damned: Prodigal Sons, was released in 2008. In addition to The Sixth Gun, his current projects include Crooked Hills, a middle reader horror prose series from Evileye Books; The Tooth, an original graphic novel from Oni Press; and various work for Marvel and DC. Somewhere along the way, Cullen founded Undaunted Press and edited the critically acclaimed small press horror magazine, Whispers from the Shattered Forum.

All writers must pay their dues, and Cullen has worked various odd jobs, including Alien Autopsy Specialist, Rodeo Clown, Professional Wrestler Manager, and Sasquatch Wrangler.

And, yes, he has fought for his life against mountain lions and he did perform on stage as the World's Youngest Hypnotist. Buy him a drink sometime, and he'll tell you all about it.

I rate the main story much higher. The thing is this edition contains half of the story + spin-off/prequels to the main plot. As entertaining as they are, I want to know how it ends. I would prefer to have spinoffs collected in the last deluxe edition. But I understand, commercially speaking, it would be a harder sell.

Anyway, The Sixth Gun, as a whole, is great.

The spin-off series is not as good as the main arc, so this collection is nicked a star. Still, the main story is a humdinger.

Another just average outing in the Sixth Gun story. This volume like the previous one is a mixture of main story and a spin-off that gives some background into some of our characters. Again Cullen Bunn has a unique talent of making me like something and just as I do he turns it into something I really don't like. It keeps me intrigued enough to continue the story but it always brings my enjoyment down. Both stories in this volume were about the same in terms of enjoyment for me. The Grey Witch and Jessup opening the vault after it being teased throughout this series. There are still mysteries to be explained in this book as to how Drake Sinclair has survived so long. Nidawi is still alive I think by the end of this volume. It seems like the Knights of Solomon have taken out the Sword of Abraham in a very Mafioso like fashion. Screaming Crow's use of the Thunderbirds was kind of cool to see as it was like Native American Dragons vs snake people on bat-wolves. This volume explains what happened to Kirby Hale after he was captured and the Gallows Tree prophecy was fulfilled. Father Roberto is still alive after he was left with the Wendigo but probably the biggest surprise of all was the return of Gord in a way. The second story in here the backup was really about Roberto Vargas and Jessup Sutter. There was also a fair amount of backstory about Abigail thrown in and it gives justification for Drake's killing of her which is why Jessup wants to kill Drake. This walking demon Yum Kimil is was interesting at first but once he went all Frankenstein and started making human centipedes I was done. But I really did like the team-up of Roberto and Jessup.

The major conflict finally happens and it can certainly be described as "biblical". At this point, I'm really not sure what is going to happen in the finale, which is a good thing. Something also to be said about this series is that it is very consistent, especially with the art.

Like the last volume, there are only a few issues of the main story and the rest is filled with another mini-series, this time on the background of one of the bad guys. This story was much more interesting and rounds out the character to a significant degree. It's an excellent narrative that evokes sympathy for him and that makes the best villains.

Terrific artwork and the steady progression of the main story help to give this volume four stars. Much like volume 3 this volume contains issues of a mini series that helps to flesh out the Sixth Gun world but does little to advance the larger Sixth Gun narrative. Looking forward to the final volume.

Another great volume and an amazing series. I did like this mini series more than the volume four but I still feel like it is series is kind of dragging down the excellent main story.

El Sexto Revolver alcanza su momento de gran épica en ese prometido enfrentamiento entre esas fuerzas oscuras que tratan de definir la próxima iteración de la Realidad en base al poder de esos 6 objetos actualmente en estado de revólveres y nuestros desesperados héroes. Ahora siendo una Trinidad que con ayuda de ciertas deidades nativas pueden lanzarse de forma directa a un ataque contra la Bruja Gris y sus huestes bífidas.

Es curioso que de este recopilatorio me quede más con la miniserie anexa de ese Team Up de dos de los grandes secundarios de las dos organizaciones de defensa contra lo sobrenatural persiguiendo a una naciente deidad de la Muerte que con esa concatenación de secuencias de acción entre el equipo Becky-Sinclair y la Bruja Gris. Quizás teniendo en cuenta que el anterior recopilatorio dejaba claro que el camino natural de esta historia pasaba por cumplir de cierta forma el Apocalipsis. Casi se siente que esto es un trámite innecesario de postergar de más. Y la miniserie paralela llegaba a proporcionar esa visión total al trasfondo que enemista a cierto antagonista con Drake. A lo que también se suma que se recupera ese interés tonal de puro e inspirado Weird Western.

Interesante también que se diese un módulo de rol de El Sexto Revólver para lo que también encontramos un one shot de otro grupúsculo de heterogéneos anti héroes fronterizos.
