Beware The Splitting Man is coming...
Some say I have a very dark and deeply twisted mind, I say thank you. I was inspired to write and tell my stories by the late, great Richard Laymon. Having been a fan for many years, I decided, what the hell, and tried my hand! I try, in my books to push the boundries of Horror. The genre has been dominated and indeed defined for far to long by 'the same old thing' I'm not saying that's a bad thing or not entertaining, but for me it wasn't enough. I attempt through my stories to bring 'real horror' to the reader. My stories will shock you, they will make you think and they will make you question your beliefs. But most of all, they will thrill, horrify and thoroughly entertain you. I have two novels out so far: 1) Through her eyes - I released this on kindle but was never totally happy with it, there fore, (Despite its several good reviews), I decided to re-write it, which I have now done. It is available again on Amazon. 2) Splitting Man - My new novel, it is available on kindle (more e-formats to come) and paperback. I have already received several 5 Star reviews on amazon for this book. Will be great to see some here on good reads too I can also be found on www.twitter.com/David__Monkwww..facebook.com/davidmonkauthorofho... David Monk's Splitting Man was one of those books I hated to keep reading but couldn't look away. If I told you it is a page turner and that it were well written and kept me hanging on a cliff, it would sound like a lie, or you might think he was my brother, best friend or husband or someone I loved. I never met the man. I noticed his posts on twitter and he seemed interesting, however abbreviated. I bought the Splitting Man not knowing what it could be about and when I opened the blurb after the fact, on Amazon I was worried because I don't read horror stories. Because I had already bought it, I decided to read it one rainy Sunday afternoon in my comfortable chair in the ladies parlor of this old spooky historic house I live in.
Then the experience began. The first page had my blood pressure up a few notches, the gory details of a blood bath startled me but something about the obnoxious lady of the house made me feel glad she fell where she fell, and my sympathy for the Splitting Man began. That hateful abusive woman he created like some Frankenstein ( but, Frankenstein was nicer) stupidly left her diaries where they could easily be found by her vicious husband, and had me feeling like I was becoming what I despise more than anything. David Monk found my bad bone. He wrote the tale that played on a teasing quality, which kept me reading. He also exposed the revenge demand in us all. I didn't want to keep reading but my curiosity about the dubious hero left me no choice. While I made guttural sounds as I read, and my husband kept saying, put that book down, I couldn’t. Thanks a lot David Monk. You got blood all over me.
I love a good horror book, this one played well with my morbid self. From the very start of the book you get throuwn in to the action. David takes you along the devious, winding and dark thoughts of the human psyche. With a firm grip he keeps the reader firmly anchored in the story, holding your hand so that you don´t get lost on the way. The way he tells the story makes you wonder if he is related to mr King him self. You´re keept on your toes through out the book and you really want to know why everything is happening. Is Sarah, Tom, Andrew, Jessica and Paul going to fix their first big job? Is Henry going to bet his well deserved rest? Do you want to find out? Buy the book, read it and leave a review for David to see what the book gave you... Nightmares?
