Shanelle Carter is the woman on campus that all of the guys want and all of the women want to be. Reread as of 11/3/18: I still love Shanelle and J.B. as lovers and friends (cue Lil Jon/Usher), even through the push and pull of their relationship. I think I'm ready to get my hands on Ms. Wallace's current book, Jazz's Song.

A very good story about a college women coming to terms about her sexuality. There was definitely some twists in turns in the plot but overall a great read. 4.5

Olivia Renee Wallace has written a poignant story that addresses love in various ways. She asks the reader to explore the mind and psyche of her main character. She weaves a tapestry of words that holdsthe distinct truth of reality wrapped in a fictional universe. This is a great read that will put you through an emotional wringer.

Overall I enjoyed this read. JB and Shenelle kept me frustrated with their refusals to acknowledge their feelings. I particularly hated Diane for reaction to her daughter. I particularly loved Deniece and Jazz for their wild antics and a piece of my heart went out Travis because he could never have what he truly desired. There were minimal errors however they didn't take away from the story. A good read by a great author!

Great Love Story
I loved everything about this book and it’s characters. I loved witnessing their highs and lows. The storyline was very realistic and showed the power, trials, and triumphs of being in love!

We all love a good love story.
She Say, She Say tells the story of two young women, J.B. and Shanelle. J.B. is a laid-back stud who knows exactly who and what she wants. When she sees Shanelle, she doesn’t hesitate to challenge Shanelle’s sexuality. Shanelle on-the-other-hand is a social butterfly and the most wanted woman on campus. She seems sure of herself until she meets J.B. These two characters embark on a journey of discovery and not without challenge. Shanelle struggles to find who she truly is and accept herself, while J.B. waits around and endures the consequences of dating a “closeted” woman. They are both forced to make unlikely decisions when Shanelle fights against herself and her true feelings for J.B. Like most great love stories, they separate, but in the end, they find their way back to one another.
Everything between these two blossomed so quickly that I did not get a chance to enjoy what could have been precious moments. Don’t get me wrong, Wallace created two very desirable and likeable characters, but unfortunately, the plot fell short. In some places, it was paced too slowly and in others, too quickly. I would have loved more courtship between this pair because it seemed they went from shy flirting to full on sex before I learned much of anything about them. A bit more cat and mouse would have been nice for at least some tension. The lack of chemistry made it difficult for me to connect with the characters.
However, I did love Shanelle’s friend Deniece. Her support and honesty brought a smile to my face. Every woman facing issues of sexuality should have a friend like Deniece. She was not afraid to tell Shanelle what she needed to hear and she never judged her for her decisions. Travis I have no words for, because he knew exactly what he was getting himself into. If a woman is your friend for years and never gives you the time of day, you should question when she suddenly does.
Although a slow read and repetitive at times, it was still enjoyable, because you got to see it from both sides (She Say, She Say). There was an understanding of Shanelle’s fears and there was an understanding of J.B. not wanting to be a secret. I believe any woman in the lesbian community can relate from some point in their life, because it follows common themes in our community. It was well written and edited. I look forward to reading a second book by this author because I’m interested in her growth.
