Ready for Her Yeti

Rate this book
Can beauty love the snow beast?

Helen is eager for a break from her life after being dumped before her wedding. She jumps at the chance to return to Alaska as a winter caretaker at a resort lodge. A month of solitude is exactly what she needs to recharge, refocus, and regain control of her life. But Helen discovers she isn’t alone. The position has already been filled by the legendary yeti, who turns out to be kind, quirky, and hot enough to melt snow.

Rab is ready to hunker down for winter and enjoy some creature comforts. He has food in the pantry, stacks of firewood, and a bed with sheets that feel like silk after months of sleeping on the ground. There’s only one problem. The elusive beauty who secretly stole his heart years ago is back and has claimed his job. He never dared reveal himself to Helen before, but now that he has, he’s afraid one month with her won’t be nearly enough.

This is all me but the yeti felt too much like a regular human and that was more strange than an actual yeti as a love interest.

Actual rating: 3.5/5, rounded up because all the pieces are there, at least!

The characters were super cute (Rab with his olive-speared fingies? Adorable!) and I enjoyed the general storyline, but some of the transitions were abrupt and all the scenarios happened so quickly, they could have been a bit more fleshed out.

It was my first yeti romance (lol) and one of my first monster ones in general— besides The Fake Mate or Unhinged (lolol)— and I guess I kinda thought there would be more focus on the interspecies aspect of it? The conversations between yeti and the spice scenes are where it was the most evident but even then, Rab and Co. still felt human. I don’t know if that’s a complaint or it’s a good thing I didn’t have to think too hard about it, it just wasn’t what I was expecting.

Also, and I say this as someone who absolutely loves living in Alaska— there was too much fact-based context for the setting! The Alaska Range is mentioned by name 12 times, alone! I get that part of it is wanting to inform people Outside about life up here and be accurate but it took me out of the story, I feel like it could be worked in a bit more organically or with a bit more balance.

Overall though, I did find it well-written, fun, and charming!

"People who raved about bear hugs never had a yeti hug." This quote from the book sumps up how I feel after reading it: craving yeti hugs now and more cozy romance stories by Neva Post! All the books in the series are comfort reads that transport you to the snowy beauty of Alaska. This one takes place in a lodge where things heat up ;) The characters are so cute and awkward together, and it is fun seeing them pining and trying to resist each other. were so hot; never has been so exciting to me xD I am so ready for more yeti!

The story was cute for the most part, but I'm beyond tired of reading about emotionally constipated men who can't talk about their feelings and women who completely upend their lives to please them. No communication as a plot point is boring and just lazy IMO.

Gleeful Goblin Review: I am flailing over how adorkable MMC Rab is written. He is literally and figuratively this giant ball or dork fluff and this scene absolutely SENT me: "Rab’s stomach woke him up. It could have been the gnawing sensation of hunger or the audible growling. One thing he was certain of, voles were not on the dinner menu. Nope. Tonight he’d eat human food. He tossed back the duvet and stretched as he glanced down his furry body. He’d gone all summer sans clothing. A yeti in the wilds during an Alaska summer didn’t need quick-dry fabric when their fur naturally repelled water. But human activities like cooking and lodge repairs often called for protective coverings, so Rab stored some clothes at the lodge. His stomach rumbled again. First things first. Dale always made sure the pantry was well stocked, and he knew Rab’s weakness for olives. Canned black olives were better than grubs any day, but jumbo greens with their pimento jelly centers, or less firm but more interesting kalamatas, were so much better. Yeti didn’t prance, but Rab came close on his way down the stairs to the kitchen, mouth watering in anticipation. The pantry didn’t disappoint. He opened a jar of manzanillas and, since he hadn’t filed his claws yet, slid olives onto each—yeti claws were nature’s cocktail toothpick. He sported olives three deep on the claw of each pointer finger when he heard a noise. Rab stilled, spotting two unfamiliar food totes against the kitchen wall. He’d walked right by them, too focused on filling his stomach to notice. When Rab arrived earlier in the day, he could tell Dale had recently been at the lodge, but hadn’t left his customary note. Was it because he’d been planning another supply trip today? Maybe Rab had heard a plane earlier? Olive jar in hand, he went out a side door and around to the front of the lodge."

If you can picture this all playing out and not chortle then you're more mature than I am but you're missing out for sure. Rab and Helen's meet cute totally lives up to the name in all its awkwardly amazing glory. They've both had a fair bit of lived experience as adults and so their coming together as somewhat of a second chance romance style story was really believable and for me at least, relatable. This is a short, sweet, and thoroughly fun read perfect for a cool evening with a warm beverage. All the better to see the rising steam! 5/5 Stars.

Helen's in need of some serious alone time and a remote lodge where the only person she needs to deal with is herself seems like the perfect opportunity to get herself in order. Only...she's not quite as alone there as she (or the lodge owner) thought. The fact the other caretaker is a big, sweet Yeti is surprising, but Helen gets over the surprise pretty quickly. While Helen likes Rab and wouldn't mind AT ALL finding out if his fur is as soft as it looks, she's also getting over a breakup and keeps reminding herself she needs to take care of herself before anything else.

As for Rab? He's eyeballed Helen (and liked her) from afar for years. Her showing up at the lodge unexpectedly thanks to a bit of miscommunication could have turned out badly, but Helen is adaptable and open minded and soon the two are sharing meals. Among other things. The only rough spot between them is knowing Helen is only staying in Alaska for a month. Because Rab? He wouldn't mind her staying a whole lot longer.

An empty lodge, some delicious food, a house party, some sizzling interactions, a sweet Yeti who is willing to go the extra mile, and a lady who needs to prioritize her wants so she can get all the things she needs. *thumbs up*

Cute, Sweet & A Little Spicy

This is a shorter story, I think it took me about 1.5 hrs total to read, so things do move fairly swiftly, but it didn’t feel too rushed. This definitely fell on the side of cute and sweet monster romance because the MMC is an ooey gooey cinnamon roll. 🤣 He’s secretly been wanting her for a long time (wish it had spoken about that in a bit more detail) and she didn’t even realize he really existed. When she winds up at the same place as him, neither expecting the other, they both get quite a shock and it doesn’t take long for attraction to arise. But she’s there with him alone for a very limited time frame and he’s the type that wanders and doesn’t put down roots. How could something ever work between them? - It gets spicy about halfway through, so although it’s instant attraction, it’s not pure smut. The spicy scenes don’t overshadow the cutesy budding romance. - Spice Level: 3/5.

Fave Quote: “Where did a cook like you learn how to yeti?” … “If you meant, where did a yeti like me learn how to cook—” Her brow furrowed. “That’s what I said.” He couldn’t stop a grin, tipsy Helen was adorable. “Of course. Must be the wine affecting my hearing.”

After a failed relationship, lawyer Helen (h) needs to recharge and a month on her own working as a caretaker at a resort lodge she worked at as a young woman seems the perfect solution. Yeti Rab (H) looks forward to his seasonal position as caretaker at a resort lodge where he can enjoy good food, a comfortable bed, and naked Helen in the hot tub. Hot tub aside, Rab is shocked to see Helen again after all the years since she was last at the resort and he’d secretly observe her, never forgetting her. The two agree to both stay and as they get to know one another, a friendship and connection grows, even as they hover on the edge of intimate attraction for one another. But each time their relationship finally starts to heat up, they keep getting interrupted – beware of Dale and his plane. Helen and Rab want one another but struggle to let the other know how they feel, and given that Rab is a yeti, Helen is going to have to make some significant life changes if they’re to be together. Hot and steamy yeti-human romance with plenty of humor and a yeti that challenges the stereotypical descriptions of his kind.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Burn: 🔥
Darkness Level: 🤍
Heat Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Genre: Paranormal Romance
POV: Dual
Ending: HEA

This was a sweet story. Helen was struggling with what people expected of her in her life versus what really made her happy. She was a strong character without being a snarky/sassy one. Rab has always lived as a loner and nomad. This is a marked difference to the first book of this series I read (to be clear, this is the first in the series, I read a later installment first lol). Each book is standalone though you do see/hear about the other characters. I enjoyed how the HEA was set up, so it didn’t feel like either character really had to compromise too far to be together. Very low angst monster story. Would recommend and will continue to read this series and other work by this author.

I received a copy of the book from the author, but my review is entirely voluntary and honest.

My shelves/tags might be considered spoilers, so look at your own risk!

This was such a fun and cute 'monster' romance. Rab, a yeti, meets Helen, a lawyer, at the Lodge where they're both intending to be the caretaker. These two knew each other when she was a teen and worked there so it's fun that they get to meet up again. They both have a strong attraction for each other but they're not that great at communicating ;) I love that Rab loved the creature comforts of the Lodge and didn't act all caveman-ish ;P Expect to get caught up in their emotional and sweet romance as they work their way to a steamy HEA. Good fun!

I loved this story and the characters Helen and Rab the yeti. Helen goes to a resort lodge to be a caretaker after being dumped but she finds out that the position has already been taken by Rab. Rab was such a sweetie he’s very smart and sexy and Helen could appreciate that she was a very lucky b’tch I want a sexy yeti for myself please. This is a sweet and wonderful story/ series and I highly recommend this book.

This is such a sweet and adorable romance story. I've read her previous and plan to read any others in her yeti series because they are so good! With just the right amount of spice! Helen and Rab are so perfect for each other I cried when they found out she had to leave a week early because if a storm. Uh! Rab is such a sweet, caring ball of fur I'm in love with him! With a lovely epilogue at the end I can't recommend Neva more!

This novella is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy, female human (Helen)/male yeti (Rabten), forced proximity, contemporary fantasy romance. I enjoyed Rabten’s enjoyment of his life as it was, as well as his willingness to support Helen. I empathised with Helen’s heartbreak before coming to the lodge. I enjoyed seeing her become confident. I enjoyed their intimate scenes, and the ending.

Sweet yeti read

Ok, I've been looking for a yeti read where the yeti isn't a caveman and this delivered. I love that there were humans that knew and yeti can have friends among them. Main characters were empathetic though you sometimes wish you could sit them down and make them just talk about things. Great HEA.

I’m a sucker for sweet cinnamon roll monsters, and Rab is no exception. This book feels like curling up under a cozy blanket on a cold winter evening. Think Hallmark movie, but with a way better plot and monsterfucking. If you love short and sweet monster romances with a HEA then you'll love this book.

Mm I guess it depends what you want. This was almost too sweet for me. I wanted easy, and spicy. This is more slow and sweet. They don’t jump each other instead they talk and have light touches, and when things finally get going she leaves. Then she returns and their coming together again was just hallmark-y with a little spice.

Very Good

I loved reading about Helen and Rab. He is a yeti and lives in Alaska where Helen meets him. They are staying at the Tolkat Lodge for a bit. Helen is having time to herself except Rab kinda ruins that. They decide to co-habit for a bit. Will these two have feelings for each other or will they go separate at the end of Helens vacation?

Sweet and Adorable

What a sweet and adorable romance! I think I adored Rab from the beginning, he was super smart and not at all beastly and wild. And I KNEW Helen would fall fast and fight it. I really enjoyed it but now I want to hear more about that vampire from the party…

She was definitely ready for her Yeti

I wasn't sure how I'd like this book, but the title alone made me giggle so I had to try it. So glad I did! I absolutely adore Helen and Rab. If you're looking for a cute, wintery romance with some spice, you've found it!

It was very sweet! The spice does leave a little to be desired (why am I not finding smuttier books?) but I still enjoyed it! Rab is as so sweet and the tension between him and Helen was thick. Overall, a good read.

3.5 stars. Quick read! Rab is a cutie, just wish the story would've been a little longer. I feel like the story was fine, just fast. Totally not a bad thing though. A quick HEA is just what I needed in between some of my longer reads.

Quick and sweet

I love short novels like this, ones that don’t need many words to capture the emotions and the characters’ personalities. You can really feel the love and desire between them, and I’m always a fan of a happy ending.
