They start in North America where the well-known Bigfoot has been sighted, then travel to Scotland to find the Loch Ness Monster, Nessie. They continue their trek looking for proof of the Gargoyles in France, the Bakeneko in Japan, Medusa in Greece, and so many more, as they try to complete their grandfather's research. Learn about all these legendary Disney graphic novel author Tea Orsi presents the information in the form of small descriptive cards with stories, fun "facts", curiosities, and highlights about each monster, as well as short tales of actual sightings! Kids will be fully engaged while learning everything they've ever wanted to know about monsters, with The Great Book of Monster Legends !
An absolutely gorgeous collection of monster stories from around the world. While the collection did introduce me to some new mythical creatures, the stories about each one were very brief and a little unsatisfying.
I was interested in this book because it looked like a kids nonfiction with fun illustrations (think the old DK publishing books), but it toes a weird line between having a plot (cousins with a monster loving grandpa?) and telling stories about monsters.
This has some of the most stunning illustrations. While I enjoyed the legends, they were brief and a bit all over the place. However, there were several that I had never heard before.
