Wow! This was a read for yo ass! 🤯 Poor Storm just couldn't catch a damn break! 💔 At every turn she was forced to take an L, and my heart broke for her! I wasn't sure how much more she could take before she completely lost herself! Then she happened upon Amoral, and it seemed her life had gone from bad to worse! Amoral! Raised by his evil mother, who bred him to kill for her! The question I had is why tho? We never got an understanding about what was up with his mother, and why she was so horrible to him. She would praise him when he killed, but the remainder of the time, she was neglectful and abusive to him!
Amoral stays locked away in a dark warehouse, as his grief is so intense from the loss of his mother; and not really having social skills. This is also where he takes souls. He had begrudgingly made a friend with Murdoc, who was his only connection to the outside world. When Storm wanders her way into Amoral's orbit, he immediately wants to kill her, but something about her gives him pause. As he spends more time with her, she gives Amoral a sense of peace and quiets the voices to kill from his mother. Amazingly Storm falls for him as well, although she is terrified of the dark side of him. She understands that he needs her, and she is probably the only person who can help him heal. Then the story goes a little rogue for me, with the uncle, cartel drama and such. There was so much more we needed to learn about these characters individually, as well as couple. The pace picked up really quickly, and the end of the read felt rushed for me.
