My men and I protect strangers with our lives. But, we'll kill for our family.
Carol Dawn was born in Maysville, Kentucky, USA, under the name Carolyn Jacobs. Carol is a stay-at-home mom where she spends her days making pb&j sandwiches, picking up toys, and giving her kids more cuddles than they want.
At the young age of five, Carol received a reading medallion for reading over twenty-one books in an eight-week period. So, her literary journey began. She wrote poems, songs, short stories and read many books.
Carol has a slight (MASSIVE) obsession with alpha male/insta-love romance books. If she isn't reading about them, she's writing about them.
When she isn't writing, reading or playing mom, you will find her watching re-runs of Stargate SG1, Startrek Voyager, cooking, coloring mandalas or performing her favorite songs for her invisible audience.
I loved this one. It was amazing. I loved how it showed how people with disabilities live their lives definitely than others. I can't wait to see what comes next.
The Phantoms & the women they love are a whole other level! I thought being allergic to strawberries & onions was bad, yeah, not so much! I'm really liking these characters, their stories & craziness of how they get there!
1.5* This whole series starts off really well then it’s a mad rush to the end.
Can you remember writing stories at school? The beginning was good then as you lost interest, it was a mad rush to finish it? This is what this series reminds me off. I keep forgetting how bad they are and reading the next one, and they’re all the same. Details are forgotten about as the book goes on. For example Grace has a rare allergy to water. It causes huge amounts of pain for her to even cry. At the beginning of the book her brother and her nieces are so careful to wipe her tears away, before they burn her. At the end of the book she’s openly SOBBING! Erm… What about her pain??
Grace is on the run from someone who is very dangerous. After she has been kept prisoner by him and abused. When Grace is found by her kidnapper, her brother contacts Shadow who he was in the army with for help. Shadow as soon as he sees Grace falls for her, (Of course.) and is determined to keep her safe. So he moves her into his house with his sixteen year old son. Is that not dangerous for his son? The first part of the book is actually good, but it deteriorates rapidly.
As it’s very short at 137 pages, they’ve fell in love, Mikey (His son) is calling Grace mom, which freaked me out to be honest!! He barely knows her and calls her mom. The danger is all sorted out and everyone is happy. I’M NOT HAPPY!!
What happened to Grace’s brother? He’s so close to her and they go into hiding and aren’t mentioned again? What happened to Mikey’s mum? Who was she? What happened to Mikey? He’s got a tumour on his spine but for some bizarre reason isn’t having the operation. Then there’s Grace’s trauma. Yes she’s had counselling but after what she went through she would have ptsd for life!
Could have been really good, but sadly is badly written.
Good storyline 👏🏿 but I felt like it was still missing something. It felt rushed all throughout the book. The sex scene is at the end of the book, which turns me off a little since that particular scene is rushed also. I really like this author, but I've noticed her books are starting to be rushed and cleaned. I like my mc books dirty, not too much drama. But enough of that to get me going and excited to see what's going to happen next. I'm still giving her the 5 stars. Hopefully, the next book will be different.
I enjoyed this one. One of the reasons I enjoyed this series was the unique challenges of the woman and their strength of character dealing with them and the men who helped. However, whilst the AI was kinda ok, I did not really get why it was necessary. Since technically, Shadow was the last man of the group to get his partner. I assume this marks the endpoint of this series. I am still very annoyed that Missy has been so overlooked and feel this is a disservice to the series.
Carol Dawn writes to touch the heart and expand our understanding of complex medical conditions in a arena of compassion and love. The Phantom MC members are unique and endearing. The heroines are strong, caring and resourceful.
All of Ms Dawn’s series are terrific and very addictive. Thank you.
Ok so this is the third book I read in two days from this series it is so addicting that once I start a book I can’t put it down. This is by far the best book I have really enjoyed 3 of the 5 books I read. I just love how the author pulls you into the story line. A definite must read.
I am so glad that we finally get Shadow's story. I loved this book and it was nice to see the rest of the crew. I was sad when this story ended but I am glad that there will be second generation books starting. I recommend this book and all books in this series.
It's Shadow time to find his one when he's called in to help a buddy. But Grace and ber baby will need more than Shadow to combat the darkness in her life.
I really liked this book, because it has the ability to do what people want. You hurt me, I hurt you. I love that they do any and everything for family.
I really highly recommend reading this amazing story! Shadow and Grace had an insta-love story with Grace having to take a moment and believe that its real and lasting. We get to meet Shdow’s really smart son Mikey and all his genius
There are not enough words to describe this book. It is a well written book that just draws you in and you don’t want to put it down. The story of Shadow and Grace had it all. An alpha hero, a heroine with a rare allergy, a 16 year old computer whiz and let’s not forgot the sweet baby girl. For all that Grace endured, she was a strong, resilient women who placed family above all. Please heed the trigger warnings as the trauma Grace suffered is not for the faint of heart but it was told so beautifully. The author does a great job in bringing rare conditions to her books, characters who do not have pity parties and they live their lives to the fullest. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Shadow by Carol Dawn is a book in her Phantoms MC series. It definitely had the instant love going for it that I enjoy. The book was a little tamer in the sex but it worked. Great storyline. Carol likes to touch on difficult and emotional subjects. Shadow and Grace had more than a physical relationship as they had Grace's personal trauma and medical issues to maneuver around. Shadow decided from the beginning that Grace was his. Even though Grace was not sure Shadow knew and made her and her daughter his to love and protect. I think Shadow made it to the top of my favorite Phantom. Kudos.
This is officially my favorite of this series! Grace has been through so much in her life and yet she is still the sweetest woman. She fortunately has the support of her older brother, his wife and their twin girls. But when a nightmare of a man comes back into her life, she is determined to protect her family from him, no matter the cost. Fortunately, her brother is friends with Shadow and calls in a favor. Shadow falls hard for the curvy mother and her precious three month old daughter. He is just so sweet to them along with his brilliant teenage son Mikey, they surround her in love. Just beautiful!
This is an emotional book with some Trigger Warnings that should be checked before continuing on to read the book. I highly recommend reading this amazing story! The author was able to bring attention to uncommon conditions that people can suffer from and told it in a enlightening way. Shadow and Grace had an insta-love story with Grace having to take a moment and believe that its real and lasting. There was a little bit of action involved but this story focused mainly on Grace, Shadow and their children merging into a family.
Got to give it the Carol this author draws you in with her wonderful character who are from different world but are brought together because of the danger Grace and her daughter safe because a friend and military buddy needs someone, he trusts to keep those he holds near and deal safe from some terrible people.
There is so man different emotions in this read such as lust, trust issues, hate an fear with lots of twists and turns. Strong triggers in this make sure you read triggers because they are affecting to your emotions. Can't wait to see what this author puts out next.
Wow, just an amazing book. Mackey is a whiz. Grace has a unique allergy. I was alittle put off once her attacker was revealed. Shadow and Grace are perfect for each other. Lily has some tough hurdles to get over, but the love of her family will get her through. Mackey is just so scarey with his computer skills. Really brings home that this may very well be our future. Loved Shadows story. As always Carol did an outstanding job.
Another fantastic story. Shadow helps an old military buddy out with his sister Grace and baby girl, Lily. Michael, Shadow's son has some wicked smarts with computers and brings some interesting technology into this story.
The story line flows right along and keeps you turning the pages, but Carol does have a few trigger warnings mentioned, but as usual, she doesn't go into grave detail on what has happened with Grace, but your imagination will understand.
Wow 😳 this book had sucked in from the get go . I loved Shadow and Mikey . I loved Grace and felt so much for her and what she had been through but also I learnt something I had no idea about in regards to her "disability," that was a real eye opener for me as I'd never heard of such a thing. Carol Dawn has become one of my favourite go to authors her stories keep you intrigued and her characters make you fall head over heels with their bossy Alpha ways . I highly recommend this series.
I read this book in one sitting. It was that good! This is a book about overcoming terrible things that have happened to you and coming out stronger and with a wonderful outlook on life. Please read all the books in order. It is not necessary for the reader to be able to understand this book but you will really understand the H and his extended family better and get more out of this book.
I don’t even know if I can make an understandable sentence to describe how amazing this story is. I instantly fell in love with Shadow and Grace and their love story. I will say I spent more then a few minutes on the verge of or in tears. The writing in this series always amazes me and this one didn’t disappoint. Edge of your seat can’t possibly describe it. Absolutely epic.
Wow!!! What a way to end a series. I love Grace’s character. And she has overcome so much. Shadow is her perfect partner. He understands, because of his sister, all about having a very rare allergy. He’s the type of man any woman would want. I really enjoyed this book. I look forward to the next series.
I never had a favorite in this series until today. Shadow is my favorite. I love how the author brings either unknown or uncommon diseases to her books. I am in awe of this author and her writing style.
This time is the broody Shadow. He falls instantly for his friend's sister and her baby. Their struggles put everyone at risk. Help comes from an unexpected source.
