Simon, Jillian and Ryan were best friends in college. Jillian’s heart belonged to Simon and they shared one night together before guilt, on Simon’s part, drove him away because he knew his best friend Ryan had feelings for Jillian. After Simon brushed her off, Jillian accepted Ryan’s marriage proposal and the trio’s friendship was never same. Little did Simon know that Jillian’s life was hell living with Ryan, but he vowed not to come between the seemingly happy couple, so he stayed out of contact with Jillian for years. He did work with Ryan and one decision on a dangerous mission cost Ryan his life. Simon was convinced that Jillian hated him for a choice that got her husband killed, when in fact, all Jillian felt was relief. Simon and Jillian meet years later, right before a terrorist attack hits in the building they’re in. This starts off their partnership, Simon working for A-Tac, Jillian working as their Homeland Security liaison, and the pair, along with many A-Tac members, investigate the attack which ends up leading them on a wild chase through New York.

I found the action to be very gripping. Just when things would calm down, another attack would strike and while everything was somehow connected, there were so many players, in the form of bad guys, it was interesting to see how loosely they were all connected to the larger plot. It’s a plot that gets tracked back to the Consortium, the evil counterpoint to the good guys in A-Tac. It’s rare that I’m drawn to the action more than the romance in a romantic suspense story, but that happened here. It got a little confusing having so many characters on page. Between all the A-Tac members coming in and out of the story and all the bad guys, it’s a lot of people to keep track of. But the action hits from the very beginning and doesn’t let up and I enjoyed that aspect of this latest A-Tac book. Simon and Jillian found themselves right in the middle of everything and I like the way that the other team members were brought in to do their things. It made sense story wise and I liked getting the updates on the past characters as well.

The romance had so much potential with the history between these two people, including a big secret that Jillian’s kept to herself since her early days married to Ryan. Whereas above, the numbers of characters included in the story lent itself well to the action portion, I think it did the opposite for the romance. With so much going on, it felt like the romance took a bit of a backseat. I got a little frustrated with both Simon and Jillian, both of them assuming things that the other person was feeling instead of talking (big pet peeve) and Jillian had a hard time letting go of the past, a painful past that she shared with Ryan. She’s convinced that she may be walking right back into the same situation with Simon, but instead of telling Simon the truth about Ryan she pulls back. It adds some romantic angst, but it’s also frustrating to read about two characters having sex and then one of them immediately pulling back, only for them to have sex again, but again someone pulls away after. That back and forth gets tiring very quickly and it kept me from completely enjoying their relationship. They do have some sweet moments together, I especially loved when Jillian finally confesses everything to Simon, I just wished it hadn’t been so drawn out.

Books in the A-Tac series can be read as a stand alones and Double Danger is no different, but with so many past characters showing up and doing their jobs, I think it’ll read a little differently to people who have kept up with the series versus someone picking this up as their first series read. The suspense was great, the storyline continues to be ongoing with the Consortium and I liked seeing the action take place in and around New York and the city’s landmarks. The romance was a bit of a letdown. I enjoyed the characters of Simon and Jillian, they have some nice moments together, but a lack of romantic page time and build up for their relationship made it take a backseat to the fast paced action and A-Tac team.

Jillian Montgomery is a widow, her husband Ryan was killed in a secret ops. Simon was best friends with both Ryan and Jillian in college and commander of the ops that took Ryan's life. Ridden with the guilt over Ryan's death, Simon has cut all ties with Jillian. Forced back into contact by a group action between Homeland security (Jillian) and a secret ops team (Simon), they must face each other and the demons that haunt them once again.

When Jillian and Simon's lives collide the chemistry they once had in college reunites. Can they find happiness with all that hangs between them...mainly Ryan? Can they come together before its to late to stop the terrorist attack?

Double Danger was a fast moving action, adventure, romance. The mystery behind the terrorist attacks slowly unfold to keep you enchanted to the pages. Definitely a must read for all those romance fans that like a little extremely hot military ops stories.

This ARC copy of Double Danger was given to me by Netgalley and GRAND CENTRAL PUBLISHING in exchange for a honest review.

Loved loved LOVED. The way this book was written. I love how we get to be in the minds of both Simon, Jillian and the antagonists plotting (in Köln)
Throughly enjoyed the combat action. Also I’m not one to read spicy material but the WAY Ms Davis wrote those scenes?!? Amazingggg; I had to close the book and take a breath at times. I hardly ever give 5 stars but I just really really enjoyed this book. :) (and to think I got it for free because my university library in Padua, Italy was getting rid of it; what a hidden gem!)

Sixth in the A-Tac romantic suspense series revolving around the men and women in the American Tactical Intelligence Command. The couple focus is on Simon Kincaid and Jillian Montgomery.

My Take
Well, that's certainly one way to get the girl to talk to you. Just save her life.

What a treat this story was. Good writing with Davis teasing us along about Ryan and J.J.'s issues with just enough of a hint and the sly reminders. Although, reminding me twice that the appearance of a hero can be deceiving in almost the same words was a bit much. I did enjoy Davis' subtle treatment of Simon and Jillian's emotional issues. No whacking the reader over the head. Thank you for assuming I have some smarts!

Davis slid everyone's backstory in very nicely as well making it a very natural part of the story. Another subtle treat were the believable denials about the possibility of a successful romance from both Simon and J.J. So many times an author does the "oh, no, it won't work" dance and the author hasn't developed a believable scenario, doesn't put the work into it. Not Davis. This was absolutely beautiful.

I enjoyed the twists Davis put A-Tac through as well with Brecht's terror teases although I think he / she slipped up with the cannons. All that possibility and for a terrorist not to take advantage of it?? That was the tip-off to the team that it was only another tease.

I haven't read any of the previous A-Tac stories, I'll have to remedy that and slip the first one, Dark Deceptions, onto my TBR pile. It's a sweet cast of characters. Individuals who support each other, are loyal. Combine that with a good writer, I'm good to go.

The Story
It's been four years since Simon walked out. The day she sees him again, a helicopter takes out the fifteenth floor of the hospital. Thought at first to be an accident, evidence seems to suggest otherwise. And since that evidence was found at a "terrorist encampment funded by the Consortium"…

Homeland Security wants in on this investigation and who should it be but J.J. She's looking good and it's just too embarrassing. It's all his fault and she loved Ryan so much. But it's a race between their feelings and the terrorist actions they keep encountering.

Michael Brecht is determined to fulfill the Consortium's plans and even more adamant about making A-Tac pay. And he knows just how to do it. Yusuf should strike just the right note to improve the Consortium's bottom line.

The Characters
Jillian "J.J." Montgomery was Ryan Jackowski's girl and now she's with Homeland Security. The same Ryan who died in that compound in Somalia. And Simon has been in love with her since college, that one night, then he stood back and let Ryan marry her. A mistake on her part.

Simon Kincaid is hiding an injury that forced him out of the SEALS and and there's a good chance it'll put paid to field work with A-Tac.

Avery Solomon is the "commander of A-Tac, a black-ops division with the CIA" and the dean of students at Sunderland College. Other members of the team include Harrison Blake, the computer forensics specialist who's in love with Hannah. Drake Flynn who is married to Madeline and they have a six-month-old daughter, Brianna---her teething pains are keeping him awake. Hannah Marshall is their intel specialist. Nash is married to Annie and has a son, Adam. Tucker Flynn is Drake's brother and Alexis is his wife. Owen and Tyler are married. Owen works for the NSA while Tyler is their ordnance specialist.

Sunderland College also serves as the headquarters for the American Tactical Intelligence Command (A-Tac) which consists of academicians and black ops boys from the CIA.

Yusuf is Bilaal Hamden, the "dead" son of a Hamas official who returned to life.

The Consortium is an organization that aids terrorists in return for profit. Michael Brecht seems to be in charge of planning terrorist activities and Gregor is his number two. Anthony Delafranco is one of the unhappy founding members. Kamaal Sahar's people were supposed to sanitize the Afghan compound.

Joseph Isaacs also runs a gallery in England. Eric Wilderman is the bald guy who booked the helicopter tour and Nicolas Essex was the veteran pilot who may not have been what he seemed. Mason Dearborn was the impostor with a long rap sheet and may have been working for Emmanuel Rivon, a coffee buyer who ran guns. Emilio is his younger brother. Norman Lester lives at Dearborn's address and runs an art gallery.

The Cover
The cover is hot for action as a fire fills the background and a bewhiskered and filthy Simon stands tired and waiting, in front of the flames, a gun pointing to the ground.

The title is indeed about a Double Danger. There are the terrorist attacks in New York and love. A love that is itself a double danger. Of Simon wanting Jillian in his life and Jillian realizing she still loves Simon.

Dealing with the sudden death of her not-so-perfect husband, Jillian decides that she’ll never be a victim again. She devotes herself to helping others and learns how to survive the biggest of odds. When her training is put to the test in a very real situation, she ends up back in the arms of someone she’s been trying to get over for years. Her late husbands best friend and deep undercover elite agent, Simon.

Guilt over his best friends death has driven Simon for years. Having to work with Jillian makes all those guilty feelings resurface along with the forbidden desire he always feels in her presence. They indulged in each other once many years ago and Simon never quite got over the pleasure or the betrayal he felt emanating from his best friend. Working against the clock Jillian and Simon may not have as long as they’d like with an international villain bent on creating a US tragedy.

I really enjoy this series and Double Danger is another great addition to it! Jillian and Simon are just great characters that provided me with an outlet to get lost in the black ops story line and impeccable writing. What I love most about this series is the perfect combination of the black ops story, action and the romance. There is enough of each for me to feel satisfied with both fronts when often I am left wanting more from other authors. I’m a picky reader because while I enjoy military/black ops, I want a strong romance as well and sometimes an author will give me more of one or the other. Dee Davis has no such problems and ties everything together seamlessly.

Living a marriage that was essentially a lie has made Jillian determined not to make the same mistakes twice. Simon, while not her husband, has the same type of personality and that scares Jillian. She makes every attempt to thwart his advances and shut down her emotions. Riding an adrenaline high throughout the book makes that difficult and she finds herself falling for him all over again quite quickly. I enjoyed Simon’s high running emotions and constant drive to keep a very capable Jillian safe. His internal struggle between his feelings for his best friend and his widow made him endearing to me. I liked that he felt guilty but was unable to turn her away.

If you’ve read this series you know that behind everything is always the terrorist group, The Consortium. While that has been a constant I think I’m getting a bit tired of it. I would have liked a bit more light to finally get shed on them by the 6th book in. They are a bit too shadowy and it doesn’t feel as if anything will ever get tied up with that aspect. So theoretically these books could go on forever. I need a clear cut bad guy and a way to end the conflict…and I’m not getting that with these and it’s frustrating. Micheal, a high ranking Consortium connection, may not even be making it to further books, so that’ll leave me even more in the dark then normal.

Double Danger is a high octane romantic suspense with plenty of action packed scenes to keep readers eagerly turning pages! Dee Davis is an incredible author and she has definitely become an auto buy for me!

I give Double Danger by Dee Davis 4 stars!

Double Danger is a action packed and suspenseful with a bit of romance added to the mix to make it an okay book.

Simon Kincaid is an ex- SEAL was injured on the job and now finds himself as a member of A-Tac. He feels guilty over the death of his best friend Ryan and for the feelings he's always had to Jillian, his widow. I liked Simon from the start. A no-nonsense soldier, he knows what he is good at and what he wants. But what he's always wanted, Jillian's love, can't be his. He believes that he missed his chance when Jillian chose to marry Ryan. Or so he thinks. The he sees her again and all hell breaks lose around them and end up partnered to investigate the events of the helicopter crash.

Jillian "J.J." Montgomery is starting a new life after losing her husband Ryan. She has a new job with with Homeland Security and trying to make a life for herself by herself. Back in college she made a decision that she regrets, she chose Ryan over Simon. A mistake on her part. She is struggling with the issues regarding her relationship with Ryan and her feeling for Simon.

When I first looked at this title I didn't know it was part of a series. Double Danger is book 6 of the A-Tac series by Dee Davis. Although this book is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone and for that I am grateful to the author. She made an effort to include as much of a back story when it was relevant without overwhelming me. The writing was very good with a great action sequences and a suspenseful plot. I like to be kept guessing and the author delivered in that regard. I felt that the pace dragged a bit during the main characters inner musings. I felt like they were repeating themselves. While Simon kept feeling guilty that his best friend died under his watch and that he loved Jillian, I did not need to hear it two or three times to get the point across that Simon was a hurting. The same applies to Jillian, she kept saying that she would not get involved with Simon and that her new life didn't include him in it, but she did in the end. Like they say never, say never.

I enjoyed the interactions between Simon and Jillian and although most of it gave me glimpses into their personalities, I felt that I needed to learn more about Jillian to really connect to her. Maybe I'm just judging her for her previous mistake or I just don't understand where she is coming from, but that connection was not there. The romance part of the story was okay. They had great chemistry and had history, which helped with the believability of the relationship. The suspense part of the story was very good. Immediately I was swept in it, trying to figure out who was the bad guy and just when I think I got it all figured out, it changed on me. I liked it a lot!

I plan to add the previous books of the series to my 'To-Be-Read' shelf, since I did enjoy this installment. Hopefully I'll read it before the next book comes along.

My Review:
I started this series last year, and I will be honest, it has never let me down. These books always feature great suspense and romance with a dash of danger and adventure that keeps me turning the page from page one until I get to the very end. I have a hard time putting books from this series down once I get started.

This is book #6 in the series (I have a couple....books 4 & 5 still sitting on my TBR shelf) and features a couple that have a history...as friends. Simon and J.J. (Jillian) met in college along with Simon's best friend and J.J.'s husband Ryan. They were all friends, until one night things got out of hand between J.J. and Simon and then things changed. Within a few months, J.J. married Ryan and Simon melted out of her life. Simon and Ryan were in the SEALS together when Ryan was killed on a mission. Simon hasn't seen J.J. since the funeral. He thinks she blames him for her husband's death. He knows he blames himself, but Simon doesn't know the whole story about his dead best friend.

When they meet again, it's in the middle of a terrorist attack. But now J.J. is Jilian and working for Homeland Security and Simon is working for A-Tac and they end up working together on the case.

Pretty much everything in this book worked for me. I loved the history between Jilian and Simon. I loved their chemistry and that time after time, they both put the other ahead of themselves. They are in a race against time over a terrorist plot that isn't making any sense. The only thing they know is that every time this guy strikes, they seem to be right there in the thick of it and on the verge of death. It was VERY suspenseful and action-packed. I loved that! There is also GREAT romantic tension between the two of them. There is a lot that's been left unsaid hanging between them and you combine that with their chemistry and the constant danger that they find themselves in and it makes for a really great read.

Yes, I am behind on reading this series, but honestly, that didn't affect my enjoyment of this book at all. All of these books work as stand-alone novels and that works for me. The A-Tac team within these pages is great and I just love the characters. I also truly love the premise that there's this seriously covert high-spy team hiding within the walls of a college. I LOVE that premise...so creative and it works for me.

If you haven't tried this series, I definitely recommend it. All these books maintain their place on my keeper shelves. (So, yes, that means I will be buying this one in print too even though I got a free ebook version from the publisher. It's that good!)

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Suspense. Intrigue. Action. Romance.

Dee Davis has created a dynamic team of men and women in the American Tactical Intelligence Command (A-Tac) that are extremely loyal, work well together, and truly support each other.

Simon: Ex SEAL, injured, now works for A-Tac. Haunted by his past where he blames himself for the death of his best friend Ryan and beats himself up over the fact that he was also in love with his wife, JJ.

He was a soldier. Pure and simple. And just because he could not longer be a SEAL, he didn't have to settle for some piddly-ass desk job. A-Tac was as good as it got when it came to working counterterrorism. And he was lucky to have found a home there.

JJ/Jillian: Homeland Security. Not only traumatized by her husband Ryan's death, but also secrets about her marriage and unresolved feelings for Simon.

As a girl, she'd been witty and idealist. Beautiful inside and out,. But only a wisp of the woman she'd become. Strong, resilient a force to be reckoned with--the reality of the woman even more intoxication than the memory of the girl.

After years with no communication, first there is an eventful chance meeting, and then they are thrown together to investigate terrorist activities.

Hell, of course it was weird, fucking crazy weird. Half of him wanted to fall prostrate at her feet, apologizing for all the pain he's caused, and the other half wanted to take her into his arms and kiss her until neither of them could feel anything but each other. But he wasn't about to admit either one.

There are chases, bombs, gunfire, and multiple life saving situations. During all of the suspense, Their past is slowly unraveled and their feelings reemerge. And they have to try to finally be honest with each other and come to terms with the demons from their past in order to have any chance of moving forward together.

It was a suspenseful and intense ride with some romance along the way. I really liked Simon and JJ together and was pushing for them to work everything out. I have not read the other books in this A-Tac series, but I was still able to get involved, and there was enough history provided that I was not lost. I can see myself reading the other books in the series to learn more about the beginnings of the couples that were also in this book. And I would definitely read Avery's story in the next installment. The teaser already has my interest...

I'm a huge fan of romantic suspense but a really good one can be hard to find in my opinion. I've got my go-to women who are just queens of the genre and now it looks like I've added another author to that list. Hot damn! I love when that happens! This was my first book by Davis and as soon as I turned that last page I was hopping over to Goodreads to add all of the rest of them to my buy list.

Double Danger leaned more towards the suspense side than the romance side of things but I still loved it. It was fast, action packed, had me intrigued and loving every second of it. And the romance side of things? While not a huge focus of the story was nicely done and had me falling for Simon and JJ.

Because the romance was more a secondary storyline there weren't too many steamy scenes but what was there was GOOD! Like make-you-pant good ;) I really liked both JJ and Simon and that they had a past together. They did end up being one of those couple that I wanted to shake and do the whole "Come. On. You. Two! Talk. Dammit!!" They're both fighting demons from the past that'll break your heart a bit and that involve the other but the two just couldn't seen to get it all out in the open with the other. Took them a while to finally get with the program but thank the stars they finally did.

I really loved how Davis actually wrote the story. It was so easy to get lost in the investigation and hunt for the people behind the terrorist attacks. I really felt like I was sitting around the table with the team when they were mulling over things and talking all the details out. Fantastic writing. She also gave just enough so you know what's going on but still having questions about how it all ties together just like the team does. I loved that and how it kept me a little on edge the whole time.

So, in the end...excellent suspense with a nice side of romance and a damn sexy cover. Perfect for getting your heart racing and your blood pumping. I'll definitely be back for more of Davis and the A-Tac team.

Simon Kincaid and Jillian “J.J.” Montgomery deal with a massive hunt to stop a terrorist plot in this overwhelming romance/suspense. There is just too much going on in this book for me to truly say that I liked it but I didn’t hate it.

Simon Kincaid is an operative for a covert department within the CIA know as A-TAC. Their job is to wipeout terrorist organizations. Jillian Montgomery is the widow of Simon’s now deceased best friend. There are so many names going throughout this book that I can’t tell you from memory the name of the best friend. This makes the point about the book being overwhelming that I mentioned earlier. Simon and Jillian were also very close to become lovers before Jillian ended up marrying the best friend in question years ago. Simon feels responsible for the death of Jillian’s husband so he basically disappears from her life until a terrorist threat brings them together.

This book takes you on a very uncomfortable roller coaster ride where you have to pay attention to every single detail just to barely keep up. Not that I have an issue with details but this is out of control. Simon has several team members that come into play throughout the book. There are also members of the terrorist organization called “The Consortium” that also get mentioned throughout the book. Within all of this, there is the unkindled romance between Simon and Jillian that plays out. In fact, one chapter really focuses on them and the rest of the book focuses on everything.

If you really love suspense, this is definitely the book for you. If you like a more straightforward suspense, this would just frustrate your senses as everything is seemingly thrown at you all at once. Compared to other romance/suspense novels that I have read, this swings mostly in the suspense column. The love scenes are definitely steamy but they only focus on two people and seem to have just been thrown in to satisfy the steamy quota.

In the 6th installment of the A-Tac series Dee Davis is at it again, this time with Simon and his story. Now Simon is no average Joe when it comes to being in battle, hell he has the scars to prove it. But when Jillian aka J.J un-expectantly comes back into his life and into the chaos the A-Tac team is in, Simon finds himself caught right in the middle of it all. Dealing with terrorists is a piece of cake, partnering with a long lost love to take them down may prove to be his biggest challenge yet.

After losing her husband, J.J. decided to get her life back on track. Now working for Homeland Security J.J. finds herself in the middle of a fight between terrorists and the man who stole her heart, Simon. Will she be able to fight the battle with A-Tac and within herself to finally let go of Simon once and for all? Or will she be consumed by him like she was so many years ago.

Davis’ writing style keeps you submerged. You feel like you’re right there as each shot is fired and each explosion is detonated. And not only is the story interesting but the love story between Simon and J.J. is believable! Unlike most couples, these two are adults! They know they have something, they know they have issues to work out but they also know that in order to stop a terror attack they must push aside their issues and work together.

What’s even better about this couple is their chemistry. Simon and J.J. are hot for each other all the time! Each touch and stroke is like fire running through their veins. The mere sound of the others voice has them discombobulated. I love it!

If explosions, gun fights and fast paced action are your thing then Double Danger will have you turning pages faster than you can blink.

Title: Double Danger

Series: A-Tac bk 6

Author: Dee Davis

Genre: Contemporary/Romantic Suspense

Ignoring his instincts once cost Simon a vital op-and the life of his best friend, Ryan. Now as escalating, violent attacks hit A-Tac, another person he loves is in danger. Homeland Security agent Jillian Montgomery's investigation has suddenly brought her back into Simon's life, and unless they can learn to trust each other, their dangerous mission will fail.

After her husband Ryan's death, Jillian dedicates herself to saving others. She can't afford to be tempted by Simon, even though his every touch reignites the desire they once shared. But in the last desperate minutes before disaster strikes, their second chance at love might be the most lethal trap of all . .

This is a series that I have really enjoyed, and look forward to each new book as it comes out.

I wasn't sure what to make of this book, as Simon is a character that is fairly new to the group and one we haven't had a lot him. His story however as it unfolds is one that reaches in and grabs you.

Jillian however it took me longer to like. She has this big secret about her marriage to Simon's best friend, and yet she blames Simon for what happened in her marriage, when he had no clue what was really going on.

There is lots of action going on as Simon, Jillian and the rest of the team try and stop another terrorist attack on US soil. Not only that, but Jillian and Simon have to come to terms with what happened between them in the past, and what they feel for each other now.

Once Jillian stopped acting like a pain in the butt, I really liked her.

I do have to say that based on what happens at the end of the book I CAN'T WAIT for the next book.

Over all this wasn't my favorite book in the series but it definitely holds it's own, as is worth reading.

As a Navy Seal Simon loses his best friend Ryan and is severely wounded. Unable to bare the tremendous amount of guilt and face Jillian, Ryan’s widow the object of his affection, he flees joining A-Tac. Much to his surprise he runs into Jillian years later at a hospital minutes before a helicopter crashes into the building. The crash was only the beginning in a series of suspected terrorist attacks. In order to put an end to the terrorist plot Simon and Jillian will have to depend on each other as well as the team. However, with the ghost of Ryan between them will they succeed?

Bookswagger Danielle: Five Crowns, major swagger a must read. I was a little scared to read this book because it was number six in the series and often times you can’t jump into a series this far along. Surprisingly, I didn’t have any problems picking up the story lines. It would have been great to have more background knowledge on the rivalry/hatred between the A-TAC and the Consortium but it wasn’t necessary. This book was a great and I do mean great representation of Romantic Suspense. I tried to put the puzzle together while reading quite unsuccessfully I might add but it only added to my enjoyment. I love action movies and this book was right up the same alley, plenty of explosions and gun fights and a hunky man, what’s not to love. JJ’s (I refuse to call her Jillian) and Simons chemistry was believable and added to the storyline. I liked that love didn’t make either character weaker, I felt they were stronger together and made for a great partnership.

I am hoping the author will continue with this series forever lol, I am going to put her down on my authors to watch list. If you’ve read the other books tell me which one was your favorite I’m thinking about going back and reading a few.

Double Danger by Dee Davis
4 STAR
Double Danger is action pack one thing after another. This a A-Tac novel. The first one
that I have read but hopefully not the last one. It does have some love scenes that I skipped over.
The characters are a mixture of good and bad guys. Men and women from different agency backgrounds working on stopping terrorist attacks.
Simon Kincaid fromer U.S. Navy Seal now working for A-tac as one of the newer agents. He is in a raid in Afghanistan but the group has already left but they left some clues behind about a attack.
When Simon is back in New York at a hospital he sees a old friend from collage who married his friend Ryan on his seal team. In fact on his last mission as a Seal that he was charge of and got wounded his friend Ryan died as a hero.
Simon cared for Jillian Montgomery but she always picked Ryan over him. She was at the hospital on the emergency diaster mock incident. When a helicopter crashed into the hospital and she was trapped. Simon was able to rescue her and they made it out barely others were not so luckly.
Homeland Security agent Jillian was assigned to work with A-Tac agency with Simon was closely. The attack on the hospital looks like a accident but the more they look into it the more dead bodies turn up.
I think if you had read the previous books would bring a little more understanding but this book does stand alone. I am sure thier will be another book in the series to come, that I look forward to reading when it comes out.
If you like action pack suspense novel this book is good.
I was given this ebook to read in exchange for honest review from Netgalley.

Book 6 in the A-Tac series which are CIA operatives that all work undercover at Sunderland College.

The one thing that never lacks in a A-Tac book is non stop action, along with that pesky group the Consortium (an arms cartel they have been trying to bring down throughout the series).

This is Simon's story. Simon was a Navy Seal before joining A-Tac. His last mission with the Seals went south and his best friend Ryan was killed and he was wounded. He feels a sense of guilt over Ryan's death and has been unable to face his widow Jillian Montgomery who he was also best frieds with in college and had a thing for but stepped back because he thought Jillian picked Ryan.

One day after a meeting with his Dr he runs into Jillian at the hospital right before a helicopter crashes into the building. Turns out Jillian is working for Homeland Security now and is assigned to work with A-Tac and partnered with Simon when they figure out the crash was no accident. Jillian has always harbored a secret from Simon - well actually two and one is pretty big.

There are many more explosions as they try and following the treads which all keep pointing to the Consortium as being behind. Most of the team is in this book and it was great seeing them again and hearing how they are doing in there relationships. And as a added bonus the next book will finally be Avery's. There is a sneak peak and boy does it look like its going to be a doozy..

I just met the author, Dee Davis. She is my new neighbor! And over drinks on her lovely terrace overlooking her enchanted garden she gifted me my first DD thriller ... DOUBLE DANGER. Here I go .... More later!

Just finished this thriller. Dee's main characters Simon and "JJ" (Jillian) took me on a suspenseful, thrilling "ride" intrigued with mystery, murder and mayhem through the city of NY. From Hospital of Special Surgery where there's a helicopter crash, to lower Manhattan's South Street Seaport and FDR drive to thwart bomb threats, all the way up to the Bronx at Yankee Stadium and then back downtown to the bowels of the UN building to save a life of a dignitary! This page-turner did not disappoint! It has "24" quality about it where just when you think to yourself, "how are they going to escape from the threats of death, this time," they manage to ingeniously get out of the circumstances by the skin if their teeth! All this while the sub plot reveals Simon's and JJ's past passion for each other! As the plot ignites with twists and turns, so does their unrequited love and passion for each other..... But not before the truth is revealed about their secrets held from one another for so many years! I am definitely now a Dee Davis fan and can't wait to take another "ride" into the world of suspense!

~ Action *** Danger **** Romance ~

Double Danger has romance and danger in equal measures. I unfortunately read this book out of series. This is the first book of this series I've read, but I will definitely complete the full series.

As a Navy Seal Simon loses his best friend Ryan and is severely wounded. Unable to bare the tremendous amount of guilt and face Jillian, Ryan's widow Simon Joins A-Tac. Years past and Simon and Jillian meet again in the middle of terrorist attacks. Jillian is now working for Homeland Security and Simon for A-Tac and they end up working together on the terrorist case. This novel is a fist full of action, explosives, gun play and sexual tension.

And the romance…

It is my firm belief that sexual chemistry between two characters either exists or it doesn't. You can feel the sexual chemistry and reconnecting bond developing between Simon and Jillian. I loved how they both put the other ahead of themselves. Simon and Jillian definitely has it.

I absolutely recommend this book.

*I was a lucky winner and received this book as a goodreads giveaway.

Romantic suspense at its best.

Double Danger is another thrilling installment from Dee Davis’s A-Tac series and since each book is better than the last; this is another suspense filled adventure. Davis has perfected the romance suspense genre. She has written a tale that maintains the perfect balance between romance and suspense. I enjoy when the suspense does not overtake the romance, but instead complements it.

The reader is provided with one of my favorite troupes, second-chance love. The hero, Simon, has two regrets in his life and both relate to his best friend, Ryan – (1) coveting his woman & (2) getting him killed. I loved the kick ass heroine, Jillian. They star in the sweetest of love stories; this couple never expected to find love ~ especially with each other. Of course the entire A-Tac team turns up so there's also some great secondary characters who when tied together with the international crime organization hell bent on facilitating a major terrorist agenda – it is everything you could possibly want in romantic suspense.

4.25 out of 5. Gosh, what can I say about a book that just keeps the reader on the thin edge of a razor blade throughout a really great romance suspense novel? I have not read but one other of the stories in this series but I really like this author's style, the way she puts her characters in connection with one another, and the fact that the tension between love and mystery is always in good balance. This is a story about a love long delayed, one that should have probably been acted upon years earlier and yet the two people involved--Simon and J.J. both misread one another and their life together appears to have been torpedoed. It is a book that is full of adventure, danger, and the stuff of very good suspense. Yet there is the pathos of two people who seem to be like two ships who keep on missing one another. And like many whose sense of honor, of "doing the right thing" puts them at odds with reality, these two are locked into a pattern of interaction that is frustrating for them and for the reader. It's a complicated and compelling novel and one that deserves to be read and appreciated for its excellent craftsmanship and entertainment value. It's one terrific read!

NetGalley free read

It was a welcome distraction from the things I have been reading. But, I would say that it was really just okay. I got really sick of both Simon and J.J.'s inner dialogue saying there could never be anything between them every time they thought about the feeling they had for one another. I happend every couple of pages until just past the middle of the book. Even after they'd had sex, J.J. was thinking that they had gotten that out of their systems and that they couldn't be together.

I also feel like everything about the Consortium and the A-Tac trying to figure out what was happening was slow and drawn out. it only got good in the last half of the book. One they and the Anthrax threat, everything got much better.

The only reason I'm giving this two stars which means it's okay is because I did like it, but only the last half was good and exciting to me. So it's really two and a half stars, but not enough for me to give it three.

I liked it, but not enough to try to read the rest of the series.

This book tell the story of Simon, who has all these while in love with Jillian found himself in her presence after the death of her husband, Ryan. Being the best friend of Ryan and the fact that both he and Jillian shared an unforgettable night together, Simon has choose to stay away from Jillian more so when Ryan passed away. He blamed himself for Ryan’s death when they were on assignment for the navy. Unbeknownst to him, Jillian has been a victim of abused by her husband Ryan. When they met again, under a completely different circumstances where they are expected to work together.

This is a story of romance suspense genre where it involved investigation on attacks that has occurred beside the story of near miss opportunity of love between two persons. I feel sad to see two persons who are obviously meant for each other seem to be estranged. All thanks to Ryan, who seem to have personal issue. Overall, this book is a great read with great balance ofsuspense and romance element in it

Seriously, how has the public not figured out that these people are secret agents?!
The love story was a little more real in this one which helped to counter the completely bonkers headache inducing terrorist/consortium plot. I mean I wasn't even looking for them and plot holes were jumping off the page at me. I know terrorists are not necessarily rational people but dear god in heaven could they get any more elaborate in order to, on purpose, accomplish very little.

Did I actually read this book? No. Did I enjoy the parts I paid attention to? Not really. This entry in the series was more thriller than romance. I didn't feel a connection to Simon or Jillian. They didn't grab my interest like other couples in the series have. At this point, I'm just ready for this series to wrap up.

Loved it. I love this series. As always I love the books regarding the men that work for the governemnt in various agencies of the alphabet. This one had a lot of action and romance. I really love when they balance each other out. Good plot...
