Fighting a hatred born of unbearable grief, Chloe Lott detests the Blackbird family for their role in her brother’s death. When Dell Blackbird, the newly promoted Alpha of the Blackbird pack, dares to show his face at her brother’s funeral, Chloe is livid. Nothing, including Dell’s massive, powerful body will convince Chloe to betray her family’s honor. In danger of losing her heart to her sworn enemy, she begs Dell to stay away when she knows her resistance begins to falter.
Dell is inexplicably drawn to Chloe. Obsessed, he struggles to get her to see past her animosity. He knows he should do as she’s asked and leave her be; however, his wolf within has claimed her as his mate and refuses to live without her. Nothing will stop Dell from claiming Chloe, not even her reluctance to be his mate.
My pack territory is in Central Montana, between Stone Crow Estates and the North Fortress. Born and raised in an untamed location that bridges the gap between rolling prairies and majestic mountain peaks, I am born to a family that also bridges the gap between cultures. My father’s people boast a fiercely proud Scandinavian ancestry while my mother’s tribes descend from two savagely beautiful and unique nations (White Clay and Nakoda) that inspire my Skin Walker series.
I'm a huge fan of MMA, boxing, 30 Seconds to Mars, DMX, Nahko and Medicine for the People, and 21 Pilots (“…sometimes quiet is violent”). I also love to read because it encourages me to write. (I hate it when authors add that they love coffee and chocolate. Really? Who doesn't love coffee and chocolate?) Anyway, I love beer...kidding. I don't love beer but we are engaged in a very serious relationship. (Mom, please don't call me when you read this.)
Please leave feedback….well, only if it’s positive. “Keep in mind that I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my shit! (Erykah Badu lyrics!)

It was really difficult to rate this book and I really enjoyed reading it. 3.5 Stars for this book.
There is bad blood between the Blackbirds and the Lotts. Dell's brother and the former Alpha Mace meets his mate who is married to Chloe's brother Donnie and well shit just hits the fan unintentionally of course but one thing can set off a chain of reactions and things will never be the same. Dell doesn't understand the attraction that they have and doesn't get that they are mates, slightly dim in that department but he got there in the end but I mean there were so many, maybe also too many muck ups on his part. Chloe is stubborn and hardens her heart to the point of bitterness that she nearly loses everything that she could have. I read that one author stated that she is combatative, meant in a negative way but I liked that attribute. It was all a bit rushed at the end but the story was enjoyable.
Whilst this book is titled as a prequel, it is in fact a full size book. And a good introduction to this particular pack and world.
I would normally have given this 4 stars, but there were too many typos, particularly of "your" which should have been "you're", which happened quite a few times. Also the h, Chloe, was annoying as hell; just never really warmed up to her. I felt sorry for the H, Dell, having to put up with her.
I will be reading the next one though, cause Chloe has hopefully got over her issues and everything appears fine, which means something dreadful is about to happen. Right? Right!
This dumb as hell. Passing out because of the mating attraction? It was explained several times and I still don't get it.
Hero is awful at communication and really bad at being a leader lmfao this pack is doomed
He tries to kill her when she almost gets raped. He kidnaps her against her will. He changes her into a wolf against her will. She puts up with a lot of bullshit and the smut was pretty bad, like what are you even getting out of this girl?!

This is a prequel, nevertheless it’s a full length story. There’s bad blood between the heroine and heroes family, both their brothers are dead with her blaming his family, and quite honestly she’s not wrong it was the heroes brother who was at fault. Chloe and her mother are unaware that Dell and his family are wolf shifters, it was Dell’s dead brother Mace who met Chloe’s brothers wife and recognised her as his fated mate, but instead of backing off as she was married he forced the issue now all three are dead and Dell is now the pack alpha in his dead brothers place.
While I mostly enjoyed this, there were things that were either glossed over or happened off page. Chloe’s mother seemed more than happy for Dell to take an interest in her daughter, in fact she berated Chloe more than once for not wanting to be in his company. It was strange that she held no bitterness at all, the blackbird family were responsible for the death of her son and daughter in law, in fact she seemed an odd character that didn’t work well for me. Dell was an ass and constantly kept hurting or alienating Chloe and quite honestly I couldn’t get how she kept forgiving him especially once she knew why her brother was dead. He also seemed very ignorant of his own shifter world rituals that was weird. As for Chloe she thought one thing then did the complete opposite that was annoying.
Overall this was okay but there were many parts of the story that need fleshing out.

I I’m doing a few rereads of books that got me started with different authors to see if they have stood the test of time and if I didn’t at the time give a review doing it now. Did not know how vital reviews were at the time. This book got me started on a road that I am still happily following. The author created some amazing characters and a storyline that could have gone down many roads. Yes I am really happy to do this reread as it’s as good now as it was then. I wanted to be part of the story, wanted to meet the characters and get involved with their lives. The author draws you into the book and keeps you enthralled right to the end and beyond as you need to read the next book, at least that’s my opinion. I would and have recommended this book and the others to many people and will continue to do so.
Alright, gather around fellas! This prequel pretty much knocked it out of the ballpark for me! Great set up for a series! Can NOT wait for more installments in the series!!!
What's to love? Chloe Lott is a fiesty gal who's loyal to the core. Her dedication to her family and friends is admirable and she's not a wallflower that will wilt in difficult situations. Sadly the story starts with Chloe in the midst of an emotional landslide- Her beloved brother was murdered and his wife committed suicide. Doing her best to shoulder her own pain and that of her grieving mother set us up for a lot of emotional development throughout the story. Another bonus? Chloe is Native American and I have to admit I don't stumble upon too many romance novels featuring that ethnicity. Loved that!
Dell Blackbird is everything I look for in an Alpha male romantic character. Loved the dynamic between Dell and his family and pack mates. As someone with very little family of my own I devoured the warm banter and teasing between the characters. Who wouldn't want to join this pack?!?
Only complaint- (In fairness I've never been propositioned by a sexy alpha shifter) BUT even if I was I'd like to think I'd control myself enough not to screw in the bushes outside of a restaurant parking lot. Especially for the first encounter AND with their family members inside! Alas, if the day ever comes that I'm in the position (fingers crossed) I'll update my review if I succumb to temptation. ;)
In summary- three hip hip hoorays for Territory Prequel. Now please excuse me while I attack the next book!
I really enjoyed this prequel. Susan Bliler knows how to capture your attention and keep it. I wasn't sure how this was going to go because I am not really a big fan of Prequels, but this one worked out really good. I definitely look forward to seeing what Susan has in store for us in the future.
I recommend this book and highly recommend you getting Territory as well. You won't be disappointed!!

Chloe, a human, fought this relationship. She was devastated over her brother's death. But alpha Dell did not give up on her. Not that he really knew what was happening himself. Two clueless people muddling through as best they could. I really liked that Dell's wolf side was so prominent. And I really liked Dell's Mom and Chloe's Mom. I look forward to reading more books in this series.
I LOVED THIS BOOK, THIS WAS AN AMAZING BOOK. however there were many intimidate parts where it was a bit too, i dunno, just a bit toooo detailed and that was a bit iffy. but except from that the book was awesome. I've been looking for this kind of book for sooooooo long and now that i found it, I LOVED IT. and i would highly recommend people to read this book if you like werewolves and fantasy romance.
While this is not my favorite book in the Territory series, it does a great job of introducing the types of shifters and their other halves. This is a quick read about Chloe and Dell and the introduction of the two by way of a mutual tragedy between their families. It does have a happy ending for the two and opens up the series for more couple interactions
This book starts with a a devastating tragedy, one that you just can’t see the characters overcoming. But somehow this author not only manages to bring her characters through, but she built this entire little community with people that I hope we see in future works. She kept the book moving and her characters have a depth that made me need to see them find their HEA. I hope her next book is just as exciting, I’m looking forward to reading it.
Not my favourite book, I actually prefer the second book to this one. It was nice I like the concept of how they were enemies first and then they fell in love. The only thing I didn't like was that she was turned into a wolf by his semen when they had unprotected sex.....like WTF! I know werewolf books are fantasy and unrealistic, but turning into a wolf like that is just too ridiculous.
It was well written. The characters and the storyline set up the beginnings of the series. I had already read the second book and had to read the first. I am glad that l did. I have already gotten the rest of the series can't wait to read the rest.
i understand the greif. i dont understand the hatred and animosity. it was ridiculous. Dell should have been much more open and all those misunderstandings would not have happened. he was a bit of an ass at Times and Chloe acted like a 5 year old.
I loved it. I have ready MANY shifter romances but this one by far is my fave. We have a strong heroine a clueless hero and all the juice in between. The story line was good, the drama was good. I really like it.
I really liked this book. Sexy without too much smut (although I do like smut). One of those 'how can I love him when I hate him so much' Reading Territory now
this was my first book by this author and I found I liked the characters and story immensely I will definitely read more I found the story drew me in from the beginning would recommend
Just what I needed to get me back on track - nice story - Likeable characters - with flaws but not major - that or I just needed a "lighter" read...now..Next...
So it was good, actually? But that is troubling. Because this book holds some very problematic views that it states just outright.
I am honestly offended by the fact that this book was actually well written. Because the view it holds for women is troubling. The worth women have in this world is sad. I can't imagine reading any other books in this series, not because it was bad, but because if this world view doesn't improve it would just be depressing. This book is depressing. And sadly, I think this author is going to have to go on my 'no reading' list for the future. I really do not want to live in this person's world.
Surprisingly different concept to the were-mate theory. Dell is easy to like, but Chloe’s behavior and thought process was a bit confusing. Good thing this gets addressed as misplaced grief. The two smexy scenes were hot but brief. I was hoping for more on their relationship dynamics after they get together but alas the point is to get to the HEA, right? Well done.
I loved the story it was wonderfully riveting and emotionally sensitive. The characters were arresting and the struggle to overcome grief and fear was very realistic. Kudos to the Author for her achievement. 😇enjoy fellow readers.
