Surprising how in 1926 a woman had the courage to write a novel with hidden hints to feminism.
None of that subject is called by the name but if you read you will find the message underneath.
It also makes you contemplate how the position of women in society today has changed so much in such a short time.
And little details as using a lot of French expressions and words, and old Dutch words, give it a special charm.
