Index faces the biggest threat to her life thus far: the assassin Kanzaki Kaori--and Touma's right hand is useless against her! When Kaori reveals the truth behind Index's very existence, Touma realizes just how bad his unlucky streak has gotten...
I enjoyed this entry in the series much more than the last! It had a couple twists I didnt expect and even though the ending was kinda sad it made me smile...
The plot thickens. It is a little choppy but it adds to the mystery of it all. Backstory is introduced, earlier than I expected.
This one wrapped up so well. I don’t know if it’s the ending to the series. If it is, that’s a shame. I was really interested in this new Japan and all the magic.
Not bad. But I still get the feeling that whatever happens the reader is expected to understand the history and details that are just randomly given. It's a bit disorientating.
I think I will continue reading it for Stiyl, because he's pretty cool, and apparently new characters will be introduced. The art is pretty good, so I think I'm going to keep on reading.
It’s been a while since I read the first one. I remember that one being confusing. This one was less so but honestly I still wasn’t that drawn in by the story. I was expecting more somehow seeing how many spin offs this series has. It’s obviously popular but it’s not really doing it for me. Touma, a young man, has made friends with a young nun named Index but to his horror she’s being stalked and attacked by two people, Kanzaki and her partner.
They claim to be Index’s friends and they’re attacking him because they need to return Index to their headquarters (they are magic users and Touma is with the scientists, there seems to be a dichotomy there between the groups in this world). They claim her life is in danger if her memories aren’t purged once a year as she’s being used to store thousands of books worth of information.
Touma feels there must be a better way than to reduce Index to an amnesiac shell of who she is and he wants to trust science to find that way. Even the power he has in his right hand to nullify magic might not help him here.
And yeah that’s about all this volume does. It’s a lot of fighting intermixed with back story. It doesn’t move the story along much. I wanted to like it more than I do. The art’s nice. Since the library has this I’ll probably read more but I can honestly say I wouldn’t buy it.
This was a good volume and it wrapped up well the story of the first volume. The ending seemed a little odd as it seemed like it was the end of Index's story, but there are still more volumes. Still the plot and pace were good. I enjoyed it and am curious what the next volume will bring.
How is it that the first person to question the yearly memory wipe is someone that just met her and not people that knew her and saw her as a close friend? You really trust your employers that much when you knew they wanted her caged?
