I received a copy in exchange for an honest review

I loved the first book in this series Blood Debt, but for some reason after reading it I never got around to picking up the rest of this series. So when the author told me about a tour she was doing for this series and I got the chance to read and review the rest of the series, I immediately jumped on the chance.

Centaur Legacy surprised me just like Blood Debt did, I knew I loved Blood Debt, but I had forgotten how much until I got back into this world. The idea behind this story and the world building is done so well and is so original. There was exactly the right amount of recap to remind me of what happened in the first book without having to re-read it and I was quikcly pulled into the story. The first part was a bit slow in comparison to the rest, but then it really picked up speed and I couldn't put it down anymore. It's such an addictive story and it's so wel written.

Camille is even more awesome then in the first book, she's really coming into herself and her powers in this book and it was incredible to see her change. And while she may have her doubts she keeps believing everything will be alright and she keeps fighting for what she wants. She's such an awesome main character. I also liked Drake, but Daniel and Beau where characters that really surprised me in this book. They both showed so much strenght and determination and I was almost as invested in Beau's story then I was in Camille her story. I loved the multiple point of views and how it allowed us to see the point of view of some other characters as well. I especially liked the chapters from Bea's pov and I think he's a great character, he makes a very hard descision in this book and it made me like him even more.

The world building is developed some more in this book, carefully building on what already has been established in the first book. And I have to say I just love the world Nancy has created. Th idea of centaurs living among humans and their whole society with the rules and how they live. It is al so thought out and I loved learning more about it.

To conclude: I have no idea why I didn't pick this book up earlier. This book surprised me just like the first book did and made me fall in love with this series all over again. The story quikcly pulled me in and after a slightly slow start the pace really picks up. There are some big surprises and revelations in this book. And Camille grows a lot in this book, I loved seeing her grow into her powers. This book really made me like Beau, he is such a great character and his strenght to make the descision he did in this book really impressed me. The world building is done really well and I liked learning more.

This is the second book in the series. YA appropriate for 18 and up due to violence. This book is the best one in the series for me. A lot happens in this book, they travel, become worldlier and their relationship deepens and blossoms from attraction and lust into genuine intimacy and compassion. She finds out a lot in this book. A lot of things that she hadn’t realized because she was so stubborn in the first book and didn’t want to listen, which I think come back to bite her in the ass. There are a lot of things in play that you don’t know about until the end. I like when the author does this thing where the reader finds out information as the MC does. I don’t know if there’s a technical term but it’s fun to experience the emotions with the MC as it happens. Almost like a contrast and compare. The little things really make a big difference in this book. You have to really pay attention, but it’s not too hard to follow. It has just enough to get it and not feel overwhelmed. Which I always like because I love when the author makes me think but doesn’t make my head hurt while I’m thinking if that makes any sense.

A lot of responsibility has been thrust on her shoulders and she takes it pretty well I think, she has a lot of growth in this book, she’s still head-strong but she’s learning to bend and not break in this book. Drake for me has the most growth in this book, he really shows himself to be pure of heart and true. He doesn’t let up, he doesn’t let anything knock him down, and he stays steady in his beliefs.

Her family unit has a bigger part in this book as well. She gets a better understanding of what it means to have family and people she can rely on which helps with her development as a character. The end really threw me for a loop, I was so shocked. It turns into more of a tangible mythology instead of just their legacy, it turns into something real. I hope that makes sense because I don’t know way other way to explain it.

Read it, totally worth it.

This is another in a great line of books from my favorite author Nancy Straight! The story picks up right after the first book and continues the adventure of Cami and Drake as they try to find a way to protect the love they are fighting to hold on to. This story introduces new, loveable characters and has a few surprised in store! Full of romance and twists, I was swept up from the first chapter and joined in as the adventure unfolded. I'm anxious to read the next in the series and to continue on with these characters I've come to love. I can only imagine what will happen next, but I'm certain it will be another great adventure!

When I first stumbled upon "Blood Debt" by Nancy Straight, I was enamored and in awe of the incredible world-building. So, I was anxiously awaiting the release of the second book, "Centaur Legacy." Yet, I must be honest, I was also a little afraid. How many times have I enjoyed the first book in a series but then the subsequent books were just okay. Well, honey, let me tell you there is nothing to worry about here. "Centaur Legacy" is just as good as the first book if not better!

The story begins right where the first book ends, with our characters on a plane to Ireland. Cami and Drake are on a mission to locate he great Uncle Zethus and the arrow of Zeus. If they are to have a future together, the must find a way to defeat Cami's Grandmother Zandra. Once they arrive in Ireland, they wander the farmlands. About a week after they arrive, Uncle Zethus finds them and gives them news that the arrow is not longer in his possession. If they are to find it, they must go to North Dakota.

Meanwhile, Cami's brother Beau has made a life altering decision to leave the Centaur community and try living among humans. He refuses for allow his parents to pay a bribe to arrange for a loveless marriage to a Centauride. So, he is off to San Diego, California to visit Cami's best friend, Daniel. However, while he is there, he and Daniel, rescue a young Centauride name, Lacey from a burning car accident. Lacey is a seer and alerts Beau that he must go to North Dakota where Cami needs him.

Before Beau and Daniel can make it to North Dakota, Cami is kidnapped and Drake is left unconscious and badly injured. Daniel is furious. However, he and Beau rally the family to assist in locating Cami. Before you ask, "No, I will not tell you who kidnapped her." We get a chance to finally meet Cami's brother, Cameron and he is not what I expected. Also, the character of Lacey adds a nice new element to the story.

"Centaur Legacy" manages to interweave a whole new world and rich Centaurian culture. It is complex and full of supernatural elements. I truly enjoyed the changes Drake willingly makes for the love of Cami. Additionally, the storyline is full of action, betrayals, mystique and intrigue. Once I sat down to read it, I could not put it down. I literally read it in one sitting. I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what would happen next. Now, here I sit with the knowledge that I will have to wait a year for the third book. This is especially difficult since this book ended with a cliffhanger. Ms. Straight, you are simply devilish!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are looking for a series that will touch your heart and make your heart pound with excitement, the "Touched" series is the one for you. I loaned the first book to a friend of mine and she does not even like supernatural books and she immediately fell in love it! Run, do not walk and pick up this series. You will be glad you did!

Brief Summary:
Cami and Drake travel to Ireland and then South Dakota in search of Hercules' Golden Arrow, an object they believe will help protect them from Zandra. Along the way, their relationship develops and Cami finally comes into her Centauride powers. The story also follows, Beau, Cami's eldest half brother. As he is almost passed eligibility age for finding a Centauride of his own, he has decided to try life as a human. We learn more about the Lost Herd and their reason for wanting Cami and also more about Centaur culture and politics. There is a bit of a twist towards the end, and Cami and Drake are left exposed on all sides and facing even more obstacles!
Things I liked:
-Well, it kept me up reading really late, desperate to finish it :)
-The story is told from multiple points of view, and I absolutely loved reading about Beau! He is such a sensitive, loyal guy, and I was really rooting for him to find happiness.
- Cami's maturation. She seemed to know herself better in this book, was more take charge, and even kicked some butt.
-The bond between Cami and Drake. He is a very romanticized hero, but I still like him. Cami gives new meaning to the expression "stand by your man!."
-The author did clear up some of the questions I had regarding the circumstances surrounding Cami's birth
Things I didn't love:
- I didn't really understand the search for the arrow and how exactly it was supposed to protect them from Zandra. As a weapon? As a deterrent? For some unspecified enchantment properties?
-The " twist" at the end left me feeling a little squirmy.
-I wanted more about Cami's twin,
Recommendation:
Yes. I'll read the next book :)

So what is in this book? Centaurs, magic, romance, all the characters you know and love (or hate *coughZandracough*), new characters, gods/goddesses, an entire history of Centaurs, Centaur politics, a bit of mystery, betrayal, and so much more. I only found one editing error (maybe) and because I was so engrossed with the book, I refused to stop to write it down...whoops.

Although I didn't have any problems with it, in the last book others complained that it was confusing when the POV changed. Ms. Straight has definitely listened and has fixed that problem by clearly labeling who was narrating and even where this character was. Beyond making it clear who was talking, it really helps the reader as there are multiple locations worldwide that the characters travel to. The scope of this book has definitely grown, and that exactly what I wanted to see happen. You also get to hear the story from other perspectives this time, and minor characters from the first book become more important. I hope this trend continues as the story lines get added and the web gets more complicated because I do love the entire Strayer family. My biggest concern with this book was that all the narration sounds very similar. I would (and still) think that depending on the background of each character, their vocabulary, tone, etc would be different (this pertains mainly to Zandra).

I honestly couldn't help myself; after downloading the book I started reading it right away and finished it that night. No matter what I did to distract myself, I kept thinking of what was happening with Cami, Drake, Beau, and all the other characters. Unfortunately that means I have even longer to wait between this book and the next, yet to-be-named, 3rd book in the series. Oh well, it is definitely worth it!

Camille Benning and Drake Nash are on the run after escaping from Camile’s grandmother, Camille Benning. The only hope for them is to find the ancient arrow being held somewhere in the Thessaly pasture in Ireland. From Ireland, their hunt for the arrow and Camille’s mysterious twin takes them to South Dakota where more dangers than they can imagine are waiting for them.

Camille’s father and his family immediately jump into action to help Camille. Specifically Beau and Camille’s best friend Daniel rush to her aid. But not all is what is seems and Camille must choose who she wishes to be, if she embraces her Centaur side will she be able to save herself and Drake? Can she accept the sacrifices that will need to be made for their survival?

From the first moment I started Centaur Legacy, I was HOOKED! Thank you Nancy Straight for sending me your book for review, you sent me an incredible adventure in e-book format! Centaur Legacy made me cry, laugh and bite my nails! I was shocked to realize it was 2 AM and I was still reading! Thank you again for this awesome journey into the lives of the Centaur world.

This copy of Centaur Legacy was given to me by Nancy Straight in exchange for an honest review.

Wowza! I honestly did not think it could better but guess what - I was wrong!
I loved the story start to finish. Although I would not mind having book 3 now. The wait will be torture.
The second book has it all and then some.
Drake! Yes he is defined by just his name people come on. Fell madly deeply with him. Can we really just off Zandra please? Pretty please with sugar on top? Lol. I keep trying to find redeeming something with her and she simply just makes me mad. Haha. Daniel.. Well love him too. Sorry Drake you do have Cami!
Mostly though the best ever was Beau for me- honestly I will admit I cried! I love Beau he is such a good man and I was about to dive into my kindle and whisk him away... I will write review or actual one ASAP. I'm still on my book high at moment sorry. Nancy honestly thank you for the wonderful lives you write for

Pink Fluffy Hearts ****

Nancy Straight continues to give us fun with centaurs in her second book of the "Touched" series, "Centaur Legacy." This book was a great addition to the series for me, because it answered a lot of the questions I had after finishing the first book, "Blood Debt." It had seemed like Cami's new family was too good to be true, and now the dark side of her father and his lineage is coming to light. "Centaur Legacy" picks up right where the first book left off, with Cami and Drake on the run to Ireland to find answers and hopefully, safety.

This book starts with adventure, and it just keeps going. Like "Blood Debt," this second book is also high paced, as we travel to different countries with Cami and Drake on their quest. Whilethere were point of view switches in the first book, this one definitely has more.

Everything is written in first person, and Straight was kind enough to label each chapter with who's point of view we were in and where that character was located. This was especially helpful since these centaurs were jet-setting around the world, and it was good to see what was happening back home while Cami and Drake were gone.

We also got a lot more insight to Cami's oldest brother, Beau. Beau just turned 29, meaning he has one year left where he is able to marry a Centauride, if one chooses him, and he's left wondering if it is even worth it or if he should start his own life away from the herd. Personally, I really liked Beau. It was nice to get information from a male centaur and to see his views on their society and its rules. Something else that was pretty wonderful about this book?

Cami started to make her own decisions and fully embrace herself as a Centauride! I had mentioned in my review of "Blood Debt” that Cami had just let things happen to her in the first book of this series and I had hoped that we'd see some character development to come. Thankfully, I didn't have to wait long, because Cami is taking charge of her life as well as her powers as a Centauride, and I ended up being her personal cheering squad while I was reading. Obviously,Cami and Drake are still disgustingly in love and growing even closer on their journeys.

They're getting so close in fact, that Cami is pressuring Drake to get even closer. That's right, you know what I mean. Remember in "Twilight" how Bella kept pressuring Edward to have sex, but he was too old school and wanted to put a ring on it first? Well, folks, we've just met our centaur versions of Bella and Edward. Cami is ready to get down and dirty, but Drake is too immersed in the centaur ways to give in, and we're left wondering how long it will take for Cami to break through his resolve (or how many see-through nightgowns she has to wear).

Their love story has pretty equal weight with all of the other action going on, which is to be expected. With any Young Adult or New Adult book, there is going to be a fair amount of lovey-dovey stuff thrown in there for good measure, but I didn't have a problem with Cami and Drake. I was actually right there rooting for her to put on the nightgown and seduce her centaur (is that creepy? I didn't think so). Let's also talk about how we actually get to see and hear from some of the gods we've been hearing about. How cool is that (Hi, my name is Melissa and I'm a nerd for Greek mythology)?!?

Can there please be more of that on a larger scale in the books to come? Please and thank you! If I had to choose, I would say that I did slightly prefer the first book to this one, but only by a smidge. "Blood Debt" dealt a lot more with explaining centaur lore and mythos, which was like nerd candy to me, but "Centaur Legacy" definitely has more action and adventure in it so maybe your opinion will be different than mine on this thought.

I also missed Bianca and Gage from the first book, and only hope they'll be featured more in the series.
And just FYI, "Centaur Legacy" ends on quite a cliffhanger, so be prepared to grab the third book as soon as you're done. You've been warned.

see my review on http://mamabookasaurus.blogspot.com
(Technically: 4.9) (Rounded to 5 STARS on Goodreads)

**Gasping, holding chest** I think I may of had a small heart attack at the end of this book. After getting a copy of the book last night, I hid under the covers with my iPad from my hubby and read all the way through. **Too anxious to sit.. pacing** I NEED Straight to finish the third book ASAP or I just might have an aneurysm.

OK, you may be thinking I am being a HUGE Drama Queen (OK, so there may be some truth to that) but you might give me a break once you've read CENTAUR LEGACY. In this second installment we are treated to a smorgasbord of delights. There are a host of new characters introduced including one of my new favorites: Lacey. I just wanted to jump into the book and give her a big bear hug, fist bump and high five all at once. My hope is that we will get a whole lot more from her in book three. I want to give Straight a big smacking kiss for expanding some of the secondary characters, like Brae. **Squeezing into cheer skirt and jumping with pom poms... GO B.R.A.E... GO BRAE!!!** What a scrumptious treat! We even get his point of view during the book, along with others.

The third person POV was better clarified with narrator labels. However, all the characters' POV sounded a bit too much like the same person, so I hope they are more clearly delineated in the last book. The plot thickens with more intrigue, betrayal, and twists that rival THE EXORCIST chick's neck. We see the a much more intricate weaving of story lines. One regret I have is we had no interaction with the other Strayer boys or Gretchen.

Details were expanded and previous characters that were hinted at were given their time to shine. Cami finds her own skin and blossoms into what I was hoping for. Even the gods had been given voices, much to my delight. Straight delved into Cami's past and gave us new insights into her background and ancestry. I was a bit confused as to how the arrow would be effective other than stabbing that old bat Zandra.

As for tension, it was as tight as your skinny jeans after being force fed 5 plates of Thanksgiving dinner at your Grandmother's. Honestly, I thought I would have to reach for my inhaler in order to breathe at certain points. Some of you may know that I get very defensive of fictional characters when I think they have been "tortured" enough. My hubby says I could be the world's first Fictional Character Defense Attorney. Aagh! Enough torturing poor Drake! WHY? WHY? WHY? I made my hubby run out for more tissues last night. The emotional torture was acute.

Through insurmountable odds, world travel, personal revelations and OMG-HOW-COULD-THIS-HAPPEN events, Drake and Cami model what real commitment and loyalty is. How refreshing in this cynical age. We plunge into agonizing decisions and tread through the consequences.

With enough twists to launch you into orbit, romance that just might combust your clothes, anguish enough to make you wear sack cloth with ashes on your head, mystery to wear down your nails from biting and a cliff hanger that dropped my heart into my toes, CENTAUR LEGACY has just the right combinations of ingredients. Master Chef Straight baked this novel to near perfection and I am literally on my knees begging her to finish book three as fast as possible!

WOW!!! Ms Nancy has blown me away again!! There is so much going on as this wonderful story continues! It's a beautiful, yet slightly darker story than book one. Poor Camille, it seems like everyone just wants something from her... And all of those "something's" are pretty much lethal to her. I mean, this is crazy the amount of hardships this poor girl has to go to. And yet, she's my hero!! She's beautiful and strong, and smart, and when most people would give up she sticks to her guns!

Lets tall plot for a moment! What a wonderful way this story is unfolding! And the action has definitely been amped up! Major high five to that :) this is a great way to take an easy story and make it into a web of complexity that you're dying to know how to untangle yourself from. There is a lovely set of characters that have you falling in love with them or seriously wanting to murder a fictional character. Each one of them has me completely invested in wanting to know how each one's life will play out!

I wanna talk about Drake for a second. In book one, Camille got a whole lot of the bad, and she has even more in this one, but man... Drake got some serious tests in this book. And with his new "self" I'm dying to know where Ms Nancy is going to take me with this one! And Beau is I think my favorite brother, at least so far. He is so much more laid back than everyone else and I'm so glad he got the ending he got! I literally did fist pumps and cheered :) it's so so cute!!! But I kinda want to majorly punch Cami's dad Will... If their rules are so hell bent on protecting the Centurides, why is it that every time Cami's in trouble, he pretty much sits on his thumbs! Grow a pair daddy!! Sorry I had to get that out :)

The writing is elegantly magnificent! This serious has touched my heart and it's all because Ms Nancy is a wonderful writer! There's so many captivating scenes, especially with all the traveling. And it's hard to write multiple POVs that make sense but it's flawless here. I'm actually liking all the differences. It gives you so much insight to the story line that you don't get with only one POV. All in all, there isn't much more to say except I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! 5 TOTALLY HOT PAWS!! I really need book 3, and hopefully I won't have to wait too long!

I fell in love with the Centaurs when I read Nancy Straight's, Blood Debt. I absolutely loved it and I wanted to read more desperately. Nancy was kind enough to send a copy of Centaur Legacy and I was lost to it until now. (My to be read pile had morphed into a gigantic, ugly mess) and only I could clean it up. Gonna take lots of work.

But in my plan to clean things up, I moved Centaur Legacy to the top and voila, I read it!!! I was not disappointed with anything in it. Normally for me at least, a second book is rather much a letdown, but Nancy captivated me from start to finish and I thoroughly enjoyed the travels of Cami and Drake.

In this volume, Cami is able to embrace her life as a Centaur and comes into her full powers. She is strong and capable---able to do things that make her more than able to fight in the battle for self preservation. They traipse Ireland looking for Hercules' arrow, meet her uncle Zethus, who is far tamer than Zandra, the grandmother. Then it's on to South Dakota to meet Cameron, Cami's twin, as it is he who has the arrow of Hercules. We don't get to know much of Cameron in this story plot, but maybe in the next edition!

The saddest thing was that although Cameron refused to give the arrow to them, Drake read his body language and stole it.......only to the most dire of consequence. There are always consequences to the choices we make...so be warned.

The happiest moment is when Cami's brother,Beau, claims the love of lovely Lacey, a Centauride and he will be able to remain a Centaur in the Centaur world.....although again, there will be consequences.

Cami shows fierce loyalty, and strength of heart, refuses to aceept life as it is for her and Drake, hoping and looking for a happier tomorrow and makes the decision, they must travel to Africa and confront the Centaur Council...;...I think that will be in Book three coming out in May 2013....not too long to wait, thank heaven!

I have come to the conclusion that I don't want to read too much fantasy, but I must continue with Drake and Cami's story.....I just hope I live long enough to do it. Nancy, thank you so much for this flight of fancy--I am enjoying it to the utmost!! Keep on dear gal, Keep On!

I received Centaur Legacy in return for an honest review from the author Nancy Straight. Centaur Legacy jumps right into the story taking off right after Cami and Drake head for Ireland in hopes of finding Hercules arrow which they hope will stop her grandmother. After searching all over Ireland without finding a anyone who knows where Cami’s great uncle is the pair happen to find a centaur family to stay the night with. Fearing that they are on a wild goose chase the pair is shocked to find Cami’s uncle waiting for them in her room in the morning. He explains that he gave the arrow to a mortal and gives them a tip to find him as well as a tip about her twin brother.

Cami and Drake jet off to South Dakota intent on finding her brother and the arrow that will save them from her grandmother. Instead Cami is kidnapped and taken to Florida while Drake is left behind to deal with the fallout and try to figure out where she is. Beau Cami’s older brother saves a female centaur from a disastrous explosion however he’s not able to save her brother or fiancée. Beau is told by Lacey the Centaur he saved that Cami needs him so he and Daniel head off to South Dakota. It’s in South Dakota that Drake head’s off to find the Arrow and Cami’s brother. Upon finding them everything changes. Will Cami be found? What happened to Drake?

I can’t say how much I love the Touched series. I think Cami is a fantastic character when tasked with a challenge she does whatever it takes to survive. She’s strong yet soft at the same time, even though she’s still new to the centaur community she learns quickly. She’s chosen Drake as her centaur he’s a great match for her who will do anything to protect her even if it changes their lives forever. I found the concept for Centaur Legacy unique and exciting it’s the first series I’ve read with centaurs and I love everything about it. I love the way the story is written it flows smoothly creating an enchanting story that teens as well as adults will enjoy. Centaur Legacy is a fast paced adventure right from the start till the very end. I’m dying for the next book because I have to know what’s going to happen next.

Need. More. Now.

~~~
I adore Nancy Straight. There is no doubt about that. If I were to make a list of my top favorite indie authors, she'd certainly be on that list. Heck, if I made a list of my top favorite authors IN GENERAL, she'd most likely be on it. Because I adore her. So book 2 in the Touched series? Well, it made my day when it sauntered up into my inbox. Why? Because I loved book 1. And book 2? I LOVED IT EVEN MORE.
Character Rundown:
Camille: Camille's so sweet and nice, I can't help but like her. And she cares. How can I not care when she cares so much? It's kind of not possible, no matter how much I wish I could control my feelings into my regular no-like thing I have for most female characters.
Drake: Drake's so sweet. A real sweetheart. I don't even know what else to say about him because I am blinded by the immense level of sweet that Is this guy. Ahhh, love.
Daniel: THIS IS MY BOY. For real. MY boy. Ask Nancy, she'll tell you. I heart him so hard. He's sweet like Drake, but funnier. ;) And he cares so much about Cami and I like to see that. Can't wait for him to get his very own giiirl...heh.
Plot. I don't even know. My mind is thoroughly blown. In the very best way.
Sweeeeeeeeeet! So, a bunch of the male characters in this are the sweetest to ever be invented. I heart them so hard. So of course, there was no lack of sweet boy-girl moments. Especially around Cami & Drake. And then there may have been this thing with Beau...Have I mentioned my intense love for Beau? Because he's awesome.
The ending. Uhhhh...what just happened? I repeat: Mind. Blown. I NEED BOOK 3 LIKE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. Seriously. Now. Please? I didn't see that coming and need to know what's next.
Overall, well, you should know by now how I feel about this book. LOVELOVELOVE. Nancy Straight's the freaking best. <3
Nancy Straight has become one of my favorite authors as well as a dear friend. I had the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Centaur Legacy, and I was glued to the page throughout the book.
Sometimes multiple points of view are hard to follow, but Nancy has done a fantastic job of helping the reader keep track.
I just finished my second read, yes this book is that good, and I loved it even more this time.
The story begins where we left off with Blood Debt. I loved the Strayer family from the beginning and we get to see more of Beau this time around. All I have to say is Nancy knows how to write Noble. Since in this world there are more centaurs than centaurides, it's difficult for the centaurs to find a wife.
The whole idea of the centaur is romantic. It sort of reminds me of the Aurthurian legends with knights and damsels. That being said, the women in this story are not weak. They have powers that are important to the race, and each one of them is treasured.
Beau has become one of my favorite characters in this series and his story is heartwarming.
Cami and Drake are more like star-crossed lovers, not able to catch a break. They make a great couple and I loved following them through this story. Cami is strong and knows what she wants, while Drake is loyal and cares so much for her.
The twists in the story will keep you on the edge of your seat. I loved how much Cami and Drake committed to each other. Although they face insurmountable odds, they tackle the problems together.
We get to know more about the centaur legends and how the gods interact with the centaurs in the modern world. This is a must read series by an amazing author. I can't wait to read the next book, and I'm looking forward to see how Nancy is going to resolve that cliffhanger. The wait's going to kill me!
Freakin' cliffhangers!! Oh Drake how I love you and your hotness!! "I kept my eyes closed but could hear the smile in his voice when he leaned in close to my ear, feeling the warmth of his breath as much as hearing his words: I promise to protect you. I promise to put your needs before mine. I promise I'll never let you go to bed angry, and you'll never wake up alone. I promise to love you the rest of my life, and when this life is over, I'll spend my eternity in the pasture with you." Why can't a guy say something like that to me? I loved this book, I loved Cami she's fierce, independent, and stubborn. I especially loved the scene where she tried to seduce Drake:
Drake's voice strained, "you are exquisite."
I let out a heavy breath I'd been holding, "you're pretty sexy yourself."
"I wasn't expecting you to wear...that." He said the word with reverence, as my choice had been a divine selection.
"You bought it for someone else?"
"No...I bought it for you. I imagined you in it, but my imagination didn't do it justice." He paused, and added as a confession, "I hoped you'd consider the eloping idea we'd talked about. You know our first night together and..."
Heat spread all over me. I felt shy, looking at the floor instead of at his ice blue eyes, "but I'm wearing it now." I lifted my gaze to see his reaction.
Drake shook his head, "I didn't imagine I would be able to leave it on you very long."
Okay so yeah maybe I went a little overboard with the quotes from this scene but I loved it. I also loved the different point of views the book has. I can't wait for the next installment as I didn't like the ending leaving us hanging, I also didn't like how Drake kept pushing Cami away when he was/is experiencing difficulties.
I was absolutely excited waiting for Centaur Legacy's release day, so prepared to buy the book as soon as it was available. So when Nancy offered to give me a free copy I couldn't wait to read it. "Blood Debt" was the very first book I had read by Nancy. As soon as I had started reading it I did not put it down. It didn't take me long to finish reading it with the little free time I had I managed to finish it pretty fast and loved the story line and I just knew I would love Centaur Legacy even more.
In this second book of the Touched Series we learn a lot more about Camille's grandmother, her father, and Phineas the man who had saved Camille from her grandmother in the first book. What I liked the most about this series is that Nancy didn't just tell the story from Camille's prospective but she neatly gave most of the characters their own chapters. She let us get to know the most important characters. What they were feeling, doing, and thinking. All of the story was put together very very wonderfully which is exactly the reason why I enjoyed both books so much.
My two favorite characters in this second book were Beau and Drake. Beau is more like Camille. They both didn't like the idea about just choosing any available centaur to marry just to keep the bloodlines, and both didn't like the idea of buying a wife/husband. His story in this second book was perfect, it fit great with the story line to make the book even better. Why is Drake my 2nd favorite character? Well that is so easy to answer. Don't need to say much. You'll know why when you read "Blood Debt" and "Centaur Legacy." He's just so totally perfect.
Can't wait to read the next book as soon as it comes out. I give it 5 stars.
I love the touched Series. Blood Debt was one of my favorite books of 2012. Centaur Legacy picks up right where Blood Debt left off. Drake and Cami have escaped from Zandra's house and are off to find Hercules' arrow.
Cami really comes into her own in Centaur Legacy. She starts to explore the limits of her powers and she is really impressive. Maybe even a little scary when she is in action. I loved seeing her start to learn how to use her powers. Because she is from two really powerful bloodlines, she can do some really cool stuff. And I loved seeing her with Drake. Even though they had this awesome connection in the first book, they didn't really get a chance to get to know each other. Because at the time Drake was betrothed to Bianca and then Cami was kidnapped so they didn't have a ton of time to just enjoy each others company. So when they went to Ireland in search of this mysterious arrow, it was adorable to see them just talking and getting to know each other better. it seemed so ordinary but it was cute because they seemed just like any other normal couple falling in love.
But they couldn't be normal for long. Centaur Legacy is full of just as much action as the first book. Cami is so important that a lot of people want her, and they will pretty much do anything to get her to help them. They each want her to become bound to someone in their line so that their herd will gain power. Plus there is all sorts of interesting things about the Lost Herd going on. You learn a lot about the history of the herds and we even find out who Cami's long lost twin is. There is a crazy twist with Drake too. I didn't see that coming! Centaur Legacy is a great sequel to Blood Debt. I am so excited that I have the third book to this series because I love it!
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
Holy smokes, I think this book was better than the first one. I have read several of Nancy Straights books and I have enjoyed each one. This one was certainly no exception.
This book takes off right where the last book left off. Drake and Cami are flying to Ireland. There was so much going on in this book and the action kept the book moving forward and kept me engaged in the story.
I really love the dynamic of Drake and Cami's relationship. I loved watching the relationship grow and blossom while at the same time seeing the insecurities of a new relationship appearing. This isn't instal-love but a love connection that is built and grows through the bonding of the two involved. The relationship is just very well done and I love seeing how Ms. Straight builds the love story.
The mythology in this book still fascinates me and the change in Drake within this book left me stunned. That is probably the best word to describe my feeling. I did miss some of the characters from the first book (Gage, Bianca, and Cami's brothers). I'm also really hoping we see more of Cameron in the next book.
Overall, this was a fabulous book and the only down side is that the next one isn't out yet. I highly recommend this to all my friends who enjoy a good fantasy series with some mythology mixed in.
I had my doubts about this book. The first book was extremely fast paced. This one was too but, in the first book I found it weird how she believed everything everybody told her without doubting a single thing. In this book she was a bit more stronger as a person and she had more of her own mind. She was embracing herself and believing in herself and not what everybody else told her. She would have probably jumped and run because her "father" told her too.
Drake was pretty amazing in this book too. He was confident in himself and he wanted her to know that, his one true love. He started doubting all the Centaur laws ( he should, we are not living in the Dark Ages ). There were so many villains in this book, and so many people who were shades of grey. I had no idea who to trust. They were betrayed by so many people who had helped them before.
The only people I was sure I could trust were Daniel, Beau, Camille and Drake. That was it. There were like 15 characters in this book. 5 different points of view. Though somehow the author did not make it confusing.
One thing that really confused me about the book though was that they cannot turn into Centaurs, even if they are full-blooded Centaurs?? Then whats the point! Anyways thats the authors choice :)
It was a good book
WOW! This book was everything and more! Right after I read Blood Debt I would sometimes think about what the second book would entail. I would say that my imagination never came close what I just read.
Camille and Drake, my all time favorite book couple now! Their love and passion is no match for the things that came about in this book. Their love is the type of love that would move mountains! Their relationship has endured many hardships since blood debt and continues in this book. THis book was intense full of action. There were times when i wanted to punch and kiss my kindle all at the same time.
Camille is amazing and I am so glad that she is such a strong character, I love her compassion for people, her strength, and her love and passion for Drake. Drake is a strong masculine man who has no limits when it comes to taking care of camille. I can't wait for the third and I am sure I will imagine what happens at least fifty different ways before the next book comes out.
Nancy did a great job writing the sequel to Blood Debt. I had some of my questions answered and new questions arise. I liked the turn of events and the changes that she gave her characters. I didn't see a lot of things coming and had a couple of "pick my jaw up off the floor" moments. Last time my ending question was "what is the deal with Daniel?" Now... it's "what is the deal with Drake?!" Oh and on an ending note I would just like to ask Nancy... WHHHHHHYYYY?! Why must you end the book this way? It kills me that I have to wait for the next book to come out to see what happens next.
So this is book 2 of the Touched series, it picks up where the first book left off. Don't worry if you've forgotten some of the details of the previous novel, there are historical pieces strategically placed in the book to give you those "oh yeah, I remember that!" moments.
Yet again, I loved it!! This was more about Camille coming of age (so to speak) as a centaur. She finds her way in this different life of hers and takes control. The story is a mixture of adventure, action, romance, and mystery. Just the right ingredients to keep me glued to my iPad until it was finished. The same characters are here as well as some new ones. I can't wait to see how the story unfolds and what role the new characters will play in that outcome.
Highly recommended, even if YA isn't your usual genre (it isn't mine either) you'll still end up loving it. As before, I now sit and anxiously await the next installment.
When one of your favorite authors publishes a book, you have to read it right away no matter what is going on. So, yeah, I slipped this book in between the mayhem that is my writing life right now. The first book left me waiting for more, I couldn't pass up a chance at the next book in the series. And what can I say, Nancy doesn't disappoint.
There is mystery and intrigue, action and adventure, and let us not forget romance because I'm a sucker for romance. This story has it all and it's a series not to be missed. Nancy has truly created something unique with her centaur series. It's a blend of paranormal and Greek mythology.
So many things happen from page one until the end, be prepared not to put down. This book will have you on the edge from begining to end.
So so good. Pick book two up if you haven't already read book one.
On pins and needles for the next book, my heart is on the edge of breaking. This so has to work out. More and soon!!!
Wowza! I honestly did not think it could better but guess what - I was wrong!
I loved the story start to finish. Although I would not mind having book 3 now. The wait will be torture.
The second book has it all and then some.
Drake! Yes he is defined by just his name people come on. Fell madly deeply with him. Can we really just off Zandra please? Pretty please with sugar on top? Lol. I keep trying to find redeeming something with her and she simply just makes me mad. Haha. Daniel.. Well love him too. Sorry Drake you do have Cami!
Mostly though the best ever was Beau for me- honestly I will admit I cried! I love Beau he is such a good man and I was about to dive into my kindle and whisk him away... I will write review or actual one ASAP. I'm still on my book high at moment sorry. Nancy honestly thank you for the wonderful lives you write for
I could not put this book down!!! I really don't think my review will do it justice but I'll try. It is an amazing sequel to Blood Debt! I'm so glad Cami finally realized her gifts and is becoming such a strong girl and Centauride. She really grew a lot in this book. She's more sure of herself and of her love for Drake. Their relationship makes me swoon. You can just feel the love between them radiating off the page. Oh and I'm so very happy for Beau! I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but he's so sweet and my heart melted a little.
This book had a ton of action and answered so many of my questions from Blood Debt. I felt so many things while reading: excitement, nervousness, frustration, anger, joy, hope, and contentment. It was a mix of emotions but overall, I'm just so happy to have read this book and to know that the story will continue next year!
First off Thank you Nancy straight for giving me a copy and i love your writing. Blood Debt was awesome but OMG I love Centaur Legacy. I love Cami and Drake! You will see a lot going on from different points of views which to me was very exciting cause i love different points of views. You will see some action,romance,comedy and even learn more about the history of the Centaurs. You will also learn more about Daniel which by the way the stuff he says just had me laughing. Also there are some new characters in the story as well. Don't want to give too much away so I advice you to buy it and read it you will not be disappointed at all. I'm so looking forward to reading the next one to see what happens next.
The 2nd book in the Touched series picks up where Blood Debt left off. In this book, Nancy delves deeper into the lives of Camille and Drake who are in search of an item that they hope can protect them from her grandmother.
This book is full of moments that will make you cry, laugh and even make your heart race. You meet a lot of new characters in this book and you get reacquainted with some of your favorites from the 1st. There is definitely no chance of you wanting to put the book down once you pick if up so be ready to read.
Nancy did an excellent job with this book and I can't wait until book 3 is written. I am really anxious to see what becomes of everyone and figure out how things play out. The groundwork has been laid and can't wait for the results to be revealed. :)
