By the time I started the second installment, I felt a total disconnect from the story. I had to take the time to re-load part 1 on my reader and read the last few pages to remind myself where the story left off. That is a BIG problem and inconvenience.
I can't stress enough that many readers find this serialization trend extremely off-putting.
The story may have merit, but this method of publishing completely destroys book.
I want to be "in" the story. I want to "feel" the emotions of the characters. It's just not possible to do it here.
I had been looking forward to a new release from Beth Kery and am so disappointed that this is what the readers have been offered.
I finished part 2 last night, and honestly, feel no anticipation at all for part 3.
(Agree with others about the 30% advertising content of each installment. Not cool!)

I’m not what you might think. I’m not a nice man
Ian decides to exercise his fragile control and stay away from Francesca but he cannot resist and when he realises she is about to mar her beautiful skin on a drunken evening by going to an unlicensed tattoo artist with dirty fingernails, he sees red, drags her away to his penthouse and dishes out an incredibly erotic punishment. But he's been missing a crucial fact and, when he discovers Francesca's little secret, she feels rejected and runs from him.
I'm enjoying this much more now. Ian is still a bit of a closed book with only small snippets of his past so far revealed but he's a very sensual dominant and their first punishment scene takes place in front of an open fire - it's very erotic. The writing is descriptive enough to really bring the whole scene vividly to life in my imagination - I could actually feel the ambience.
Like you? I want to fuck you. Badly. Does that answer your question?
I'm warming up to Francesca too but we still don't know her very well yet and I'm not sure she's really ready for the onslaught of the full force of an experienced sexual dominant. There may be trouble ahead.......

I'm definitely not a fan of reading a book in parts. I like the story but feel like with having to wait between each part I can't connect with the characters completely and forget what happened in the previous book. I really wish she'd reconsider releasing it in part because I don't think I'm the only person not enjoying the 2 chapters per part.

It's a shame the way that they are releasing this story. It is senseless price gouging! So far I like the story but 2 chapters at a time is just silly and EXPENSIVE!! I will finish the series but never buy a book being released this way again.

Ian and Francesca are introduced and she feels in instant attraction (recognizing he is out of her league) while he is intrigued, but reserved. He knows she is too innocent for the likes of him. Francesca is a bohemian; she is naïve, sweet and kind. She has a strained relationship with her parents, never quite measuring up. She lives with her three male roommates who are very protective of her. GREAT STORY HORRIBLE PUBLISHING PROCESS
Okay Beth Kery, I think the story is good, the characters are decent and the steamy 'attempted' sex scenes could hit the right spot.
What dampens my mood about this series is how the author decided to publish it. I can barely connect with the characters or the scenes because just when something important happens Kery ends the book. I would love to say great things about how I'm addicted to the story and wanna pass it along but I can't seem to get past this. It's so irritating that I can't even write a review. Maybe I should review this book/series like the author published her books.... write just enough to get you excited about reading it and then drop off on my last sentence, explaining that if you want to read more of my review you'll have to check back later. Hell I don't even know if I should file this under the Romance shelf for my books considering I can't seem to gather enough information in the first two books to see if this is anything other than SEX.

I don't know if I'm going to continue. I have a serious disconnect with the characters. Is it because it's a full-length novel that's broken into pieces and each new piece is available on a weekly basis? That could be part of it. And I still don't buy into Ian and Francesca's "relationship". For a innocent woman, she jumps into a D/s relationship with Ian with both feet in. And yet she's scared to get a tattoo. For me, it makes no sense. She doesn't know this man. And so far, they haven't had any real in-depth conversations about their background and personal lives. Ian is still unappealing. I find nothing attractive about him. He's a dominant robot and his dominance comes off as assholish and not sexy. I don't think I'm going to continue. If I decide to, then I'm going to wait until all 7 sections are released so that I can read it continuously without having to wait a week for the next one.

Having to wait for the next installment, I don't have any emotional attachment with the story. It doesn't have the same impact when you continue the following week. The story is only 73% of the "book/installment". So far there is a strong resemblance to FSOG and Bared to You.

Aaaaaaand the story picks up where it left off on the previous book, right on that #$%&$%& cliffhanger... only to have the first explosion of Ian and Francesca's chemistry interrupted. Can't say I'm surprised.
But don't be alarmed, fellow readers, it's still there -- that chemistry is there, and one certain smexy specimen of a man is going insane with it *sniggers*
Ian pushes Cesca away, but can't resist coming back for more, because he can't resist her (pun intended)! Her innocence frightens him, but pulls him in. Don't worry, even he is knots over that one...
As any other megalomaniac, arrogant self-made billionaire, Ian has his own stalker-ish tendencies, though this time they came in rather handy. Cesca's ass was saved... that's all I'm saying... *snorts*
After Francesca's... ahem... transgression, Ian can't stop himself, and he shows his true dominant nature...
And then... MAJOR CLIFFHANGER!

November 20, 2016Seriously, I think Beth Kery has a contract out to kill me! She ends the story at the best parts!!! My only blessing was this week after finishing part two, I had part three to read. After I finished part three, I was lost. I had no part four.
Part two: This section shows you the domineering side of Ian (and I loved it!) He knows that she is too good for him and he is willing to say or do anything to keep her away but he still drags himself back to her. To me, this part takes off when Ian barges into the tattoo parlor and demands Francesca not to taint her beautiful skin, he removes her from the shop and gives her the option to get in his car where he will take her to his home for her punishment. Ohhhh, the punishment. Just read it.
Part three: A lot happens in this section. You get to see Francesca stand up for herself and remove Ian from her life (besides going there to paint while he is away.) I felt the need to applaud her. However, when Ian buys out the club that she works in just so he can speak to her, you learn another side of him; a more intimate side that explains his broodiness. After this, I am only going to write one word. You will know what I mean when you read it…Paris!!!
Bring on part 4…and quickly please!

Oh.My.Gawwwddddd!!! The torture I put myself through! Again another great installment in this story, this one a lot more intense and sexually charged than the first one.
Beth Kery has created a smoking hot, possessive alpha, sexy billionaire hero that gets my heart racing every time and a heroine that through her innocence she is still not afraid of going after a man with such experience and intensity as Ian.
I am starting to call this series my personal crack. Everytime I get to the end of the installment I seem to always scream "No! Please don't leave me hanging there for another week! I need more!". So job very well done Ms. Kery for getting me to drop almost everything else I'm reading at the time 1am rolls around on release day so I can read my Francesca & Ian fix.
And did I mention already how awesome that heroine's name is? *huge grin*

I'm not sure why authors and publishers are moving toward the serialization trend. As a consumer this trend seems to be a means to increase sales and get as much out of a publication as possible. Even the best written story is gong to suffer from this treatment. If I invest in all 8 installments I'll be 16 bucks in the hole for a story that was doled out 2 chapters at a time.
I think if this had been published as a full length novel the sales and reviews would be better.
I can't give this book a good review because the installments are just too short, I can't get emotionally invested in the characters because I simply don't get enough of the story at one time. Next week, when the third installment comes out I'll have forgotten these 'teaser chapters'.
There are too many good full length books out there for the bargain price of 7.99 to keep bothering with this unfulfilling method of publication.
I think Ms. Kery probably wrote a good story but I'm not intrigued enough to go along for the ride or continue to spend my book dollars.

I was extremely hesitant to pick up this series by Beth Kery because I wasn't a big fan at all of her previous book I read, Wicked Burn.
Needless-to-say I ventured into it with wary hesitation. I was at first relieved that each book was a sort of short story that continues into the next. This was good when I discovered this because I realized that if I didn't like it, I wouldn't feel like I had wasted to much of my time.
Well… I worked through the first one and before I realized it, it was finished and I was opening part 2 and then 3 and then before I even realized I was done with 8.
I really enjoyed this series. It was completely intoxicating and drew me in without me even realizing I was hooked. Until I got the the end of the first part, I was still cautious but as soon as it was finished, I was excited to get to the next part.
Francesca is an amazingly talented artist who wins the prestigious commission to create the centerpiece painting for the grand lobby of Noble’s new Chicago skyscraper. The moment they meet, Ian takes to Francesca. His interest in her is completely out of character for him and so begins the battle within him to either take her or let her free.
This book was in a very slight way similar to Fifty Shades of Grey, but not exactly the same. There were moments where I thought 'ah it's the same that happened in Fifty' and there were moments that I felt were unique to the Because You Are Mine Series. It was not stolen from the popular series, but rather as if it there was no choice but to lead down a similar path.
I also prefer writing to be simple. And by that I mean that the use of describing verbs don't over-shadow the scene. This book contained a number of that and it bugged me out a bit. Other than that it was a great series of short stories that flow into each other. I don't really get why they were split and not just done in one book, since each book is only about 80 pages of so, but anyway.
A great, erotic series exploring the Dom / Sub relationship that's become widely popular at the moment. I enjoyed it.

So I think this series reading technique is not for me. I just feel like I cant connect with the characters. Right as I am starting to feel some connection/emotion, the part I'm reading ends & it takes another whole week before I can start all over. This might work if it was a second or third book in a series, where I already know the characters & have developed a connection with them & their story. However, the way this story is turning out, I just don't feel like I really understands these two. Also the love story & sex seems too rushed. No development. No bond. Why does she like him so much that she wants to jump into a D/s relationship so easily, without any bond or trust being established. I read Cherise Sinclair, so I have read books that have sex scenes rather quickly but the difference is the author does the leg work to better explain what is going through the minds of both characters. So with Sinclair's stories you understand who they are & why they want to make this choice. Its not just, "You're hot, so yes dominate me" or "I want to F you, so submit". This just doesn't feel realistic to me. So with the poor development, on top of the lack of connection & the similarities to 50; I just feel like this story is going backwards for me. It started with potential, around the 4 star range, and now it is slipping back to about a 3 star range (& this is only part 2). I hope part 3 has some redeeming qualities if I am going to keep reading, especially at these prices! I mean, I am barely willing to spend $16 for a new release hardback novel of one of my favorite books, by one of my favorite authors; let alone for an EBOOK (with no real physical overhead cost) that ends up just being so-so!

BECAUSE I COULD NOT RESIST is part 2 in Beth Kery’s Because You Are Mine 8 part enovella series focusing on billionaire Ian Noble and Francesca Arno.
Finding herself alone with Ian was something Francesca had been dreaming about. Better still was his reaction to her defiance. Turned on and ready to duel, Ian wanted to make sure Francesca knew who was in charge. But once again, Lucien interrupted and Francesca would find herself awash in embarrassment and rejection. It would be a few days before Francesca returned to the penthouse only now Ian was offering her something new.
BECAUSE I COULD NOT RESIST is once again, only 2 chapters in length. The storyline follows a path almost identical to Fifty Shades. From the housekeeper who knows all of the billionaire’s secrets, to the tormented little boy who grew into a successful businessman while his demons drive him to act out. Francesca is the virginal young woman who never once questions his need to punish or the fact that she is willingly allowing a complete stranger to paddle her ass because she was acting out of character with her friends. Similarly Ian must ‘rescue’ Francesca from her over-zealous male friends while out on the town, and his need to punish her overrides anything that would resemble care and concern.
I liked Fifty Shades. Behind the media frenzy and hype regarding the storyline content of BDSM etc, there is a love story with a HEA, and I am presuming that BECAUSE YOU ARE MINE will follow a similar ebb and flow until Ian and Francesca accept and acknowledge their demons and multitude of sins

Wow and OMG. This book is just so erotic that it should top the charts. The first novella Because you Tempt Me was very slow going. I now really do understand the need to set up the plot and introduce the characters. It takes time. So the first novella was not that great but I still gave it 4 stars because the first erotic scene was just so hot. The couple Francesca Arno and Ian Noble are fencing and he being the expert that he is playfully slips his blade under the strap to her tank top and quickly slices through it. Later, once he is very close to her he cannot control his urge to kiss her and then in passion pulls her tank top/bra to expose her breast quickly he covers her breast with his mouth and well you just have to read the first novella and the rest will be history. The whole book is even more descriptive of the BDSM sex scenes.
I joined Goodread this year in April and not until this book have I read and learned more about the devises that are used for sexual pleasure. The book is very descriptive and therefore it is easy to visualize the sexual tools and how they are used and the manner that they help each person achieve the goal of sexual satisfaction. I now have a wish list of items that I will be buying in the near future.

Next two chapters in this novel....It is really annoying that this is just not in one book. But I have to wait for book number 3 (chapters 5-6) to be released in a few days to continue.
Well, Good ol's Ian loves to dominate in the bedroom....and Francesca is no pushover.....drunk and out with her "boy" pals they head for a tattoo parlor...Ian, who is supposed to be "entertaining" another woman this weekend calls Francesca because he can't get her out of his head....and what he is treated to is a wild bunch of partiers and Francesca telling Ian she is going to get a tattoo of a pirate on her ass before she hangs up on him. Wow, is he riled....you see, Ian loves to paddle and spank....he wants nothing marring that beautiful sweet ass so he intervenes....he drags her out of the parlor and says if you get in this car I am taking you home and will punish you....you decide. She get's in......Read it yourself....to see what comes next.

During this installment, Ian punishes Francesca for almost doing the unthinkable. He even gets mad at her roommates for nearly letting her go through with it. Ian though finds out something about Francesca that makes him want to stop what he has with her before it goes too far.
Unfortunately, though there is no stopping the attraction between Ian and Francesca in this novella.
Oh…how I’m glad I waited until every installment is out to read these. I think I would be one of those impatient readers who drove my family crazy at home until the next installment finally released.

One word.. AMAZING
I'm in love with this book, I love Ian & Francesca.. they have such a great chemistry together and to think we are only 4 chapters into this mini-series and already it's freaking nerve wrecking/heart breaking.. lol
If you liked/loved/obsessed about the Fifty Shades series then your gonna BE IN LOVE with this mini series from the very first page :D, can't wait for next week Aug 14th to buy/read part III.. Happy Dance whenever it's Tuesday these next 6 weeks. I buy/read them on my Kobo Touch now, but i'm keeping my fingers crossed for the paperback version once all 8 parts are out! :)

Okay, I had these listed as on my kindle, but truth is, they were on my friend’s kindle, and one day at work mine died, and she was kind enough to allow me to hijack hers.
Well, I found this little read, which made me think I could finish it within a few hours. First, let me say it was a struggle to finish at all- the story is short, yes, but so much so, that you can’t really get to know the characters, and I just didn’t think it was relatable.
Not to mention that its like $1.99 … for what, I ask you?!
I say skip this, and just re-read 50 shades, because let’s face it, that’s all anyone can be looking for in a story like this, is a cheap imitation.

I'm at a loss on how to rate this book. I just read part 1 & 2 back to back and I have to admit when I look at the definition of the GR stars I did really like it, hence the 4 star rating...BUT...
The 'books' are $2.49 each and are about 45 pages long, you're essentially getting a full length novel in 2 chapter weekly updates. I quite like the idea of reading something in weekly updates like this but if each of the 8 ’books’ are the same price, you end up paying $20 for 350 pages!!!
I can't work out if I want to applaud the author and publishing house, or turn them over my knee and spank them for such a marketing ploy.

These two chapters took a very good turn and we can see Ian losing control for a change and get to know more about his family and why he acts so lonely. It was interesting knowing about the past between these two and how it’s connected with the reasons Francesca is working for him now.
The bedroom scenes was really hot and Ian is a very controlled guy even for a Dom, can’t wait to read more of his choices for BDSM. This series is sounding more interesting now than ever.

The story of Ian an Francesca is a very good. The authors ability to weave the story flawless. I was impressed with the descriptive words an found myself (I could figure out their meaning) curiosity got me though an looked them up on my iPad. Very impressive
HOWEVER I will NEVER AGAIN purchase a book in this manner
Having to pay 1.99 for every few chapters is RIDICULOUS and should NOT be allowed.
