★★★★1/2! Because You Are Mine series, book 1-8 of 8. Another whirlwind romance with a dominant & controlling, rich & sexy alpha male hero!

“Because You Are Mine” (Ian’s & Francesca’s story) is an 8-part series, released in the fall of 2012. Combined they make a 368-page read. Please note that the Omnibus will be released in March 2013.
And there will be a sequel to this series, “When I'm With You” (Lucien’s & Elise’s story) to be released in 8 weekly installments starting March 3, 2013 (series complete by April 23, 2013).

Since I am a reader in need of a HEA, I made sure I waited to read this series until all installments had been released. I read it in one sitting, thus I will review as a set.

Hero: Ian Noble/British/30 years old/mogul-playboy/$$$$/dark hair/blue eyes/dom
Heroine: Francesca Arno/American/23 years old/student-artist/red-gold hair/brown eyes/innocent

Francesca is a young artist, who entered her painting in a competition held by the billionaire, Ian Noble. She wins the competition and is commissioned to create the centerpiece painting for the lobby of Ian’s new Chicago Skyscraper. The book opens up at the reception held in her honor. Ian and Francesca are introduced and she feels in instant attraction (recognizing he is out of her league) while he is intrigued, but reserved. He knows she is too innocent for the likes of him. Francesca is a bohemian; she is naïve, sweet and kind. She has a strained relationship with her parents, never quite measuring up. She lives with her three male roommates who are very protective of her. Ian, on the other hand, is the rich and extremely successful business mogul; he is enigmatic, worldly, handsome, sexy and oh so dominant and too “corrupted” for her. But there is much more to it, because Ian is full of secrets. For starters: The reception was not their first encounter. Four years prior Francesca had painted “The Cat That Walks By Himself”. As it turns out Ian had been the inspiration for that painting. She had been sad to have to sell it. And Ian had bought and tracked her down…

Ian tries to fight his attraction to Francesca, but it’s a losing battle and so their whirlwind romance begins, taking us across the ocean while Ian and Francesca get to know each other and have lot of scorching hot sex. But as Ian’s secrets are revealed, his mysterious past continues to cast shadows over their relationship. Their love is challenged and their future threatened.

I thoroughly enjoyed Ian’s & Francesca’s story. And I very much look forward to Lucien’s & Elise’s story in “When I'm With You”.

I find you exquisite. You really have no idea why I had to have you at all costs, do you?

This e-serial is seriously intoxicatingly erotic – it’s so sensually atmospheric. I am completely consumed by it.

In this episode, Ian is taking on the role of teacher to Francesca. He attempts to teach her how to drive and then educates her in the finer points of fellatio while she is handcuffed, kneeling and strapped to a vibrator. It’s intensely erotic. The sex scenes in this series are all written really well.

I find myself more and more enthralled with Ian and Francesca. Francesca is now an open book, holding nothing back – she is who she is, naturally submissive sexually although really not submissive in any other way. She’s feisty, refuses to change and Ian is captivated by her.

He’s a rigidly controlling dominant but Francesca’s appeal is weakening that iron grasp he has on his own self-discipline as he tries to remain emotionally detached but cannot. He feels like an island – isolated emotionally but I suspect that his outer walls are being breached and that he is starting to crumble. He doesn’t want to allow that to happen but I suspect he will be powerless to resist.

There are some things in life that one could be only so lucky to get a good instructor to guide you through them. Ian manages to be that great instructor on two things for Francesca. He teaches her how to drive and the art of the blowjob.

Really not a whole lot more than this happened in these two chapters. Of course I can't complain because wow that was hot! Ian was as always extremely hot and over the top, going as far as hiring a personal shopper and tailor for Francesca. He also lets go of some of his control at times, but never 100%. I can't imagine if and when he does.

Francesca was a bit on the annoying side for me when she gets defensive about him having to accept her the way she was and if that meant that she couldn't afford to buy a dress to attend an event with him then that meant he had to deal with it not buy her a dress. It is childish to think that such a rich man, that wants to bring you as his date to a fancy party, would be ok with you showing up in your own clothes only to feel out of place. That's more common sense than him trying to buy her. But that's just my opinion.

And if you have to take one sentence away from this review of what to expect in this installment, then take this:

"I happen to be very demanding when it comes to fellatio."

I am officially annoyed and mad at these series!! The more I read the more I thin Ian the main character is just ridiculous but of course I have to wait until next week to read another 45 pages and see what's next!!

I wish I never started to read book 1 in the first place and I feel terrible because I love Beth Kery (Wicked Burn it's awesome!!) but this one it's not making it for me!

yes, Yes, YEEESSS! This book keeps getting better with each part. What a freakin' sexy scene to end on. All I can say is that I'm glad I waited until now to read part 5 because part 6 will be auto delivered in about an hour & then I can keep reading because that should not have been the end....come on midnight!

P.S. Really enjoying the development of their relationship outside of the bedroom as well. It seems we are really starting to get a look at who they are individually & who they have the potential to be to each other if Ian will only let them.

I love the story and everything but man, what a cash grab. $1 a chapter is a little much I think. I also wish I hadn't started it because you get invested in the characters and can't wait for the next instalment but when you look at it, Fifty Shades had about 22 chapters a book for $10.99. More than $20 for this? Seriously? Stopped reading.

Read my weekly interviews with Beth Kery and more of my reviews and ramblings at Ana's Attic Sexy Tales

This installment of Because You Are Mine, Because I Said So, focuses on learning more about both characters. Though still filled with some amazing sex scenes, we are finally seeing Ian and Francesca get to know each other more outside of the bedroom, as well as see them explore why they have this attraction to each other. I received this installment from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

Please make sure you start this series at the beginning, as this is the 5th in an 8 part series. Because You Are Mine Reading Order

Though Francesca is clearly a sexual submissive, she is certainly not a submissive person. In the last book, Because You Must Learn, Ian punishes her for going out for a run without consulting him, and she refuses to agree that she should have to. Francesca is still independent, and refuses to lose herself in this relationship. In fact, when Ian tries to order her a custom wardrobe, Francesca refuses, and is even insulted that he wants to change her. While this may drive Ian crazy, it also seems to be the reason he finds her so attractive. In fact, Ian can’t stand the fact, when he learns it, that Francesca never got her driver’s license and sets out to rectify this lack of independence immediately.

That is part of the appeal of this series. Francesca, being so young and innocent, and Ian, so in-charge and rigid. They both seem to get what they need from each other. Ian gets a submissive and a fresh look on life through Francesca’s innocent eyes; and Francesca gets the domination she needs and the experiences only someone like Ian can provide.

“How could an innocent make him so helpless, flay him to the bone, turn him inside out until he felt as raw, as naked, as exposed as he insisted she become for him?”

As the book continues on, I am getting more and more sucked in to Francesca and Ian. This one had some amazing sex scenes as well as a deeper connection to both of the characters.

“He wanted to tell her how exquisite the experience had been–how exquisite SHE was–but for some reason, his heart began to beat uncomfortably hard. He didn’t like the way he’d felt exposed there at the end…weakened by his need for her.”

Rating for this installment: 4.5 stars, 5 for Heat.

I was extremely hesitant to pick up this series by Beth Kery because I wasn't a big fan at all of her previous book I read, Wicked Burn.

Needless-to-say I ventured into it with wary hesitation. I was at first relieved that each book was a sort of short story that continues into the next. This was good when I discovered this because I realized that if I didn't like it, I wouldn't feel like I had wasted to much of my time.

Well… I worked through the first one and before I realized it, it was finished and I was opening part 2 and then 3 and then before I even realized I was done with 8.

I really enjoyed this series. It was completely intoxicating and drew me in without me even realizing I was hooked. Until I got the the end of the first part, I was still cautious but as soon as it was finished, I was excited to get to the next part.

Francesca is an amazingly talented artist who wins the prestigious commission to create the centerpiece painting for the grand lobby of Noble’s new Chicago skyscraper. The moment they meet, Ian takes to Francesca. His interest in her is completely out of character for him and so begins the battle within him to either take her or let her free.

This book was in a very slight way similar to Fifty Shades of Grey, but not exactly the same. There were moments where I thought 'ah it's the same that happened in Fifty' and there were moments that I felt were unique to the Because You Are Mine Series. It was not stolen from the popular series, but rather as if it there was no choice but to lead down a similar path.

I also prefer writing to be simple. And by that I mean that the use of describing verbs don't over-shadow the scene. This book contained a number of that and it bugged me out a bit. Other than that it was a great series of short stories that flow into each other. I don't really get why they were split and not just done in one book, since each book is only about 80 pages of so, but anyway.

A great, erotic series exploring the Dom / Sub relationship that's become widely popular at the moment. I enjoyed it.

1.5 stars

If it was possible for me to rate this book 1.5 stars, I would, I really, really would. I read this book in the hopes that the storyline would somehow get better but it's just going worse.

Why would your very rich boyfriend introduce you to his personal shopper? That was one moment where I wanted to smack Francesca. I get that she doesn't want him to buy her extravagant things. But if the woman is stepping towards her with a measuring tape, and she's introduced to you as a shopper, there's very little chances that she's going to measure your height.

Ian takes her out for a lunch following their fight and during the meal, Francesca confesses that she doesn't know how to drive. Ian takes it upon himself to teach her - which I actually found endearing. He continues to tutor her about being a submissive and in the wake of their scene, feels overwhelmed.

His emotional response to her shocks him and he does the only thing he can think of - he pulls away. They go for a lavish dinner, where he continues to act withdrawn, 'cold' according to her. This hurts her feelings and when she tries to converse with him about this - using sarcasm - he tells her he warned her beforehand what his behavior was going to be like.

The next day, Ian is out before she's wake with specific instructions of what she should do while she waited - nothing. She decides to wait for him in the lobby, which angers him. Thankfully, we're saved from another fight scene about this. They fly back to Chicago and part with plans of meeting later in the week.

4.5/5 STARS

On this fifth installment, Ian and Francesca continue their exploration of their desire for each other. It's inevitable; sparks fly around them, and they cannot control themselves. That is a problem, mostly for Ian a.k.a. major control freak.

Throughout these two chapters, both start to realize something about themselves. Francesca is starting to discover her true sexual nature -- her submissiveness --, and she's starting to adjust to this startling new fact about herself, and making sure that her naturally independent personality isn't negatively affected by it.

Well, Ian... Ian is quickly discovering that his oh-so-sacred control is not all that strong in Francesca's presence. She makes him feel vulnerable, weak, and he's having a hard time wrapping his mind around that unknown and scary feeling.

He wanted to tell her how exquisite the experience had been—how exquisite she was—but for some reason, his heart began to beat uncomfortably hard. He didn’t like the way he’d felt exposed there at the end . . . weakened by his need for her.

That's right! Super-controlling Ian Noble isn't feeling so strong at the moment. Let's hope he doesn't do anything stupid, eh? Like... ruining everything?

There's only one way to find out! Off to part six!

Wow and OMG. This book is just so erotic that it should top the charts. The first novella Because you Tempt Me was very slow going. I now really do understand the need to set up the plot and introduce the characters. It takes time. So the first novella was not that great but I still gave it 4 stars because the first erotic scene was just so hot. The couple Francesca Arno and Ian Noble are fencing and he being the expert that he is playfully slips his blade under the strap to her tank top and quickly slices through it. Later, once he is very close to her he cannot control his urge to kiss her and then in passion pulls her tank top/bra to expose her breast quickly he covers her breast with his mouth and well you just have to read the first novella and the rest will be history. The whole book is even more descriptive of the BDSM sex scenes.

I joined Goodread this year in April and not until this book have I read and learned more about the devises that are used for sexual pleasure. The book is very descriptive and therefore it is easy to visualize the sexual tools and how they are used and the manner that they help each person achieve the goal of sexual satisfaction. I now have a wish list of items that I will be buying in the near future.

Read this review on my blog! --> Book Travels

These two chapters felt more short than the others, maybe because I could see a more relaxed side of Ian, he’s possessive but also a cute when in love. I know he’s in love I can bet that when he finally figure out what it’s really happening things won’t be that simple for him.

I liked how Francesca didn’t just bow for him, when pressured and stand for her ideas, very nice how she handled and Ian was really sweet afterwards.

Plus the felatio was hoooootttt. I know it sounds so simple when compared to other books and scenes we already saw from Ian, but the waiting for the next chapter made more anxious.

Okay, I had these listed as on my kindle, but truth is, they were on my friend’s kindle, and one day at work mine died, and she was kind enough to allow me to hijack hers.
Well, I found this little read, which made me think I could finish it within a few hours. First, let me say it was a struggle to finish at all- the story is short, yes, but so much so, that you can’t really get to know the characters, and I just didn’t think it was relatable.
Not to mention that its like $1.99 … for what, I ask you?!

I say skip this, and just re-read 50 shades, because let’s face it, that’s all anyone can be looking for in a story like this, is a cheap imitation.

"Because You Are Mine Part V: Because I Said So" by Beth Kery is the 5th part of a novella that's been divided into 8 parts.
In part 5, Ian and Francesca get to know each other more. Francesca learns a little bit about Ian's business and Ian about Francesca's past. Also in that way, Ian finds out that Francesca doesn't know how to drive and he decides to teach her. Let me tell you, it's the "sexies driving lesson ever"!!! Wooow...I'm kind of jealous.
This part ends with another "lesson" scene. A different type of lesson...a very hot and sexy one as well.

Another amazing hot installment, loved and enjoyed it.

The story of Ian an Francesca is a very good. The authors ability to weave the story flawless. I was impressed with the descriptive words an found myself (I could figure out their meaning) curiosity got me though an looked them up on my iPad. Very impressive

HOWEVER I will NEVER AGAIN purchase a book in this manner

Having to pay 1.99 for every few chapters is RIDICULOUS and should NOT be allowed.

16.00 for ONE EBOOK is crazy!

I had no idea that was how it was sold an will never again get caught in that trap!

The car lessons that, of course, ended with a sex scene. Then, Franscesca being taught how to please him in a new way, one that she, of course, enjoys, as always. Franscesca finally finding her voice and setting down her foot when it comes to clothes (of course, this is barely a serious matter but it was good to see she can resist Ian even a bit). Still, even if in a way he controls her, it is nice of him to make her take driving lessons. I liked this book. It was good, I can say. I didn't roll my eyes more than once or twice :P

After waiting each week, and paying $16 for 16 chapters, I was expecting more. What a boring ending. There was no climactic ending, ( well, except for Ian's). I was truly disappointed with this. I didn't enjoy having a week to wait for two chapters. By then I felt disconnected to the characters and the storyline. I won't be purchasing this format for my Kobo again. A waste of money.

From what I can tell, this is just a novel broken up into 2 chapter segments. Honestly, I would have preferred to just read the whole novel instead of having it broken up.
I'm still liking the way Francesca stands up for herself against Ian's anger and frustration. I like that while she doesn't mind being submissive in the one area, she refuses to let herself become submissive in her entire life.

**note** This review is being done after reading installments 1-5.****Love the story....wish it were just all in one book though...not sure the point of the little installments. The story is a bit FSOG...so I am hopeful that there will be some twist that will take it in a bit of a different direction.

I really like this series but i hate that it is sold 2 chapters at a time. Clever ploy to get a much higher price for your book but rather vexing for the reader. Especially as the chapters are not very long. I would love to have read this as one complete book instead of a whole bunch of little installments.

OMG the more the story goes, the more I wanted to read! It is intense series; Ian and Francesca truly can't enough of each other and after reading 8 books; OK so they were only 2 chapters per book,, I want more. There is so much more that can made their story "Complete". Ms. Kery, please write for more chapters and make it 10 books in total. I know I'd buy them.

This review is the book as a whole, not each individual book.

One of the hottest erotic books I have read to date! I had to keep turning the pages. Ending was a little disappointing, but everything leading up to it was amazing. I love all the hot scenes between the characters. Excited to see what else this author has to offer. Look forwarding to reading more of your work!
