“It was for me, too,” he finally said.
Her bewilderment deepened.
“The best day ever.”

Ah, Ian. Is that genuine emotion spilling forth unbidden there? I do believe it is!

After their intense session in Ian's punishment room, Ian abruptly announces he has to go away. He's withdrawn from their intimacy and is once again cold and aloof. Francesca reacts with anger - he blows so hot and cold with her she never knows where she stands. Her feelings for Ian are deepening by the day but she remembers his initial promise to her - I offer you pleasure and the experience. Nothing else. I have nothing else to offer.

After a week of ignoring one another, Ian returns with a thoughtful gift and they share a perfect day together. Ian is becoming more aware of his feelings for Francesca but is in complete denial of them, refusing to say them out loud.

Only one more novella to go and I can't believe this story can be wrapped up so quickly - they seem to have so far to go. Francesca is falling ever deeper in love with Ian. Ian is attempting to and failing to mask his feelings. Can they ever find a happy ever after?

Only one way to find out........

★★★★1/2! Because You Are Mine series, book 1-8 of 8. Another whirlwind romance with a dominant & controlling, rich & sexy alpha male hero!

“Because You Are Mine” (Ian’s & Francesca’s story) is an 8-part series, released in the fall of 2012. Combined they make a 368-page read. Please note that the Omnibus will be released in March 2013.
And there will be a sequel to this series, “When I'm With You” (Lucien’s & Elise’s story) to be released in 8 weekly installments starting March 3, 2013 (series complete by April 23, 2013).

Since I am a reader in need of a HEA, I made sure I waited to read this series until all installments had been released. I read it in one sitting, thus I will review as a set.

Hero: Ian Noble/British/30 years old/mogul-playboy/$$$$/dark hair/blue eyes/dom
Heroine: Francesca Arno/American/23 years old/student-artist/red-gold hair/brown eyes/innocent

Francesca is a young artist, who entered her painting in a competition held by the billionaire, Ian Noble. She wins the competition and is commissioned to create the centerpiece painting for the lobby of Ian’s new Chicago Skyscraper. The book opens up at the reception held in her honor. Ian and Francesca are introduced and she feels in instant attraction (recognizing he is out of her league) while he is intrigued, but reserved. He knows she is too innocent for the likes of him. Francesca is a bohemian; she is naïve, sweet and kind. She has a strained relationship with her parents, never quite measuring up. She lives with her three male roommates who are very protective of her. Ian, on the other hand, is the rich and extremely successful business mogul; he is enigmatic, worldly, handsome, sexy and oh so dominant and too “corrupted” for her. But there is much more to it, because Ian is full of secrets. For starters: The reception was not their first encounter. Four years prior Francesca had painted “The Cat That Walks By Himself”. As it turns out Ian had been the inspiration for that painting. She had been sad to have to sell it. And Ian had bought and tracked her down…

Ian tries to fight his attraction to Francesca, but it’s a losing battle and so their whirlwind romance begins, taking us across the ocean while Ian and Francesca get to know each other and have lot of scorching hot sex. But as Ian’s secrets are revealed, his mysterious past continues to cast shadows over their relationship. Their love is challenged and their future threatened.

I thoroughly enjoyed Ian’s & Francesca’s story. And I very much look forward to Lucien’s & Elise’s story in “When I'm With You”.

Ian and Francesca

Ahhhhh, how will this end???

See my mini reviews on Fiction Vixen Book Reviews

Finally. Finally the part I have been waiting for. Or at least part of the part. Let me explain.

Because I Need To starts directly after Because You Torment Me. Ian and Francesca are in bed together and have a rare moment of closeness and sharing. Ian opens up to her in a way he has never done. Francesca is hesitant to ask him questions for fear he will close up but she knows this is a chance she might never see again. They share parts of the past and present with each other and we see how vulnerable Ian really could be when it comes to Francesca.

“Do I wrong you, Francesca?” he demanded toughly. She didn’t answer for a moment, but he knew from the somber expression in her eyes that she understood he’d meant not just tonight but everything- his inability to resist this vibrant, talented, beautiful woman despite the fact that he’d inevitably taint her brilliance with his darkness….eventually make her turn away in hurt. The thought of seeing rejection of him on her beautiful face sliced deep at him.

“Does it matter?”

A spasm clenched his facial muscles at her soft reply.

The next morning, however, Ian is back to being closed off. Francesca wakes to being told he is leaving. He won’t tell her why or where he is going. They fight and Ian walks out on Francesca’s last words of telling him they were finished.

While he is gone Francesca moves on with her life. She completes her driving exams, including the motorcycle test Ian wanted her to take. She has decided that she will follow through with these things if only for herself. She at least has Ian to thank for a new sense of independence.

When Ian returns he approaches her almost immediately. I don’t think he ever had any intention of staying away from her. He simply can’t. He asks her to return to his penthouse so he can show her something. Reluctantly Francesca joins him and is stunned by what she finds. I will admit Ian’s gesture to Francesca made me sigh. What he did for her was beautiful and really spoke to his true feelings when it comes her. Francesca must have felt the same way I did because they spent a fun, carefree day together. And then a fun, carefree several weeks together.

Of course, each installment has to end at a part that makes me yell. This one was no different. After a such progress in their relationship, Ian up and leaves again. He doesn’t tell Francesca he is going even though she is at his penthouse when he leaves. He has gone back to London again with the woman Francesca saw him with. She doesn’t know who she is but she is going to find out.

“Francesca? Is everything all right?” Mrs. Hanson asked anxiously, making her wonder what the housekeeper had seen on her face.

“Yes, I ‘m fine,” she squeezed Mrs. Hanson’s forearm in reassurance and let go, starting to back out.

Just how much would a ticket from Chicago to London cost?

“But I think I might have to leave town for a few days as well.”

One more installment!!!! Ahhhhhhh!!! How will they do this? How will they find a way to be together???? Is there a HEA here? Guess we all better stay tuned!!

Favorite Quote:

Why did she have to find him so irresistible? He was like a drug in her system, but it was worse than that kind of addiction. Worse because her soul was involved. Worse because she couldn’t help but see a part of Ian’s soul as well….couldn’t help but be haunted by it.

*Sigh*....Ok, so I've resigned myself to finish this "series". I sincerely hope Ms. Kery never does this again. One, the price does not match the story...(really a $5.00 story at best). Two, most serious bibliophiles can read 5 to 6 books in two weeks. Honestly, does the Ms. Kery and publisher think that we will remember where we were left off in hers? Not likely!!!

My two star rating is neither about the price or the delayed timing between installments. I find Francesca and Ian more unlikable in each successive installation. Francesca is so desperate for Ian that she allows him to dictate her life in EVERY facet. "Get your drivers licence." "Get your motorcycle license." "Wear this." "Go here." "Do that." I'm sorry...I don't care how naive Francesca is to the ways of physical pleasure, she should have enough strength as a twenty-something independent female not to need Ian's controlling ways. I get that her parents stunted her development because of their controlling ways. However, I don't buy that Francesca who didn't accept the behavior from her parents eagerly accepts it from and pants for it from Ian.

The use of her "lessons" and "tutelage" just rubbed me so wrong that I just don't have the words to express my displeasure.

The series started on an ok note for me but honestly, I would never refer it to anyone.

Here we are again. Why am I doing this to myself? Another 2 chapter teaser. I'm not going to rant about the way this book is published (already did that). I'm not going complain about the overall high price tag (already did that too). I just can't seem to feel anything at all for these characters. I know there are plenty of fans and that I'm probably in the minority but I just don't 'get it'. I don't understand the attraction the 2 characters have for each other. The secondary characters have little impact on the storyline. I'm not even sure _what_ the storyline is other than the 'lust fest'. Just one more week of this, right? Just one more week.

I had seriously mixed feelings about this one. First of all, Ian's attitude pissed me off and then Francesca's reaction pissed me off. I was really pissed off, and I wasn't even halfway through this novella.

Going to London on a whim, Ian? Just like that? Nope, I didn't like that. Though Francesca was really, really immature about it, tbqh. She was really obnoxious. Yup.

After a week of not seeing/talking to each other, he comes back with a thoughtful gift, and they spend the day together. A perfect day. Ian keeps denying himself and his feelings for Cesca, yada yada yada.

Off to the next!

The story of Ian an Francesca is a very good. The authors ability to weave the story flawless. I was impressed with the descriptive words an found myself (I could figure out their meaning) curiosity got me though an looked them up on my iPad. Very impressive

HOWEVER I will NEVER AGAIN purchase a book in this manner

Having to pay 1.99 for every few chapters is RIDICULOUS and should NOT be allowed.

16.00 for ONE EBOOK is crazy!

I had no idea that was how it was sold an will never again get caught in that trap!

Books are too short for me to feel right grading individually so this grade is for the overall series.

Thanks to my friend for gifting me with this serial. I was too cheap and grumpy about the length v. price to ever pay for it myself!

as i said earlier reviewing this series..all contemporary romance that i read are alike or even a replica of FIFTY SHADES 2011
but Ian Nobel is the kind of man that has this distinct feature and i quote from this book " small part of him still wanted to withdraw like he had in Paris".

readers somehow (as well as me) tend to get delusional that this might be a real romance , but here is the best reply... a quote out of context
" naive fool for mistaking lust and infatuation for something much deeper?"

any way i love that here are alot of good quotes...enjoy them

■ Her touch was so gentle. Why did it feel like she ripped a bandage off a wound deep inside him when she began to move her arm, pumping him?

■ Then she touched his mouth with soft fingertips. He closed his eyes, trying and failing to shelter himself from a rising tide of unwanted but unstoppable feeling.

■ he’d inevitably taint her brilliance with his darkness . . . eventually make her turn away in hurt. The thought of seeing rejection of him on her beautiful face sliced at him deep.
■ Do I wrong you, Francesca?” he demanded toughly. She didn’t answer for a moment, but he knew from the somber expression in her eyes that she understood he’d meant not just tonight but everything—his inability.."does it matter?"

■that is the sec book i get to understand what the hell the title ment
the title is mentioned in this quote...last sentence...
“You’re acting foolishly. I got a phone call. I must leave. That’s all there is too it.”
“Why?” she demanded. “What’s the emergency? Tell me.”
He blinked, obviously taken aback by her blunt demand. She noticed the corners of his mouth had gone pale in anger. “Because I need to"

■ Do you think squeezing me like a python is going to make it all better, lovely?”
“No,” she muttered, her mouth moving next to his bare chest. “But it couldn’t hurt.”
He encircled her in his arms and laid her on her back, coming down over her. “That it couldn’t,”

■ The thoughts made it feel as if her heart was being squeezed by a giant invisible hand

■ Are you daring me, Francesca? Are you throwing down the gauntlet? Are you truly so vindictive?”

■ he had watching was pride, he mentally laughed at himself. Why should it matter that he’d introduced her to something she loved? The important thing was that she’d found it . . . that she’d delved into another layer of what was undoubtedly a deep, rich vein of her many talents and glories.

■ Ian had bulldozed her remaining fragile defenses by doing what he’d done

■ It was a little like doing a high-wire act, always striving to keep her balance on the narrow edge of their passionate affair, constantly worried she’d find herself falling away from Ian . .

I was extremely hesitant to pick up this series by Beth Kery because I wasn't a big fan at all of her previous book I read, Wicked Burn.

Needless-to-say I ventured into it with wary hesitation. I was at first relieved that each book was a sort of short story that continues into the next. This was good when I discovered this because I realized that if I didn't like it, I wouldn't feel like I had wasted to much of my time.

Well… I worked through the first one and before I realized it, it was finished and I was opening part 2 and then 3 and then before I even realized I was done with 8.

I really enjoyed this series. It was completely intoxicating and drew me in without me even realizing I was hooked. Until I got the the end of the first part, I was still cautious but as soon as it was finished, I was excited to get to the next part.

Francesca is an amazingly talented artist who wins the prestigious commission to create the centerpiece painting for the grand lobby of Noble’s new Chicago skyscraper. The moment they meet, Ian takes to Francesca. His interest in her is completely out of character for him and so begins the battle within him to either take her or let her free.

This book was in a very slight way similar to Fifty Shades of Grey, but not exactly the same. There were moments where I thought 'ah it's the same that happened in Fifty' and there were moments that I felt were unique to the Because You Are Mine Series. It was not stolen from the popular series, but rather as if it there was no choice but to lead down a similar path.

I also prefer writing to be simple. And by that I mean that the use of describing verbs don't over-shadow the scene. This book contained a number of that and it bugged me out a bit. Other than that it was a great series of short stories that flow into each other. I don't really get why they were split and not just done in one book, since each book is only about 80 pages of so, but anyway.

A great, erotic series exploring the Dom / Sub relationship that's become widely popular at the moment. I enjoyed it.

I read this book as a Random Read for May hosted by ImLovingBooks. It sounded like fun so I dug in and joined! While I've already had enough to read for this month, good thing random.org picked a short novel for me and it's Because I Need To by Beth Kery

My Thoughts

Honestly I didn't read the synopsis at all before reading this so I didn't have idea about it. My friend just gave me a copy when he saw me reading Fifty Shades of Grey and he thought I might like this too and whoa, this one I think is yes damn short but hotter right from the start.

The first chapter started off head-on steamy - no buts and ifs. The lead characters Francesca and Ian Noble has got nice chemistry along the spice of possession and punishment - Ian being the dominant and Francesca the submissive type. Francesca is an artist, her painting Cat was what got Ian's attention when they met at a cocktail party and that's when the sexual relationship began. Ian's the wealthy businessman and Francesca's just a simple lady earning enough from her works - same concept on most BDSM relationships however Beth Kery has done a good job to keep an 8-part series short yet can give you the type of adult romance you wanted.

It's not too fast paced, not too slow. It's got the right speed to put the bittersweet moments between Francesca and Ian. I actually liked how Ian make things special for Francesca by not only satisfying her in bed but letting her feel like a treasure for him as he shows her how he values her talent, passions and drive in life. Ian could be the most wicked in bed but he's also got a soft side to touch Francesca's delicate heart while controlling himself to not fall in love with her.

Take note, I haven't even started the previous parts but I somehow understood where Francesca and Ian came from which was a good sign! :)

How can this wrap up in just 2 chapters????? Because You Are Mine Part VII: Because I Need To is the second to last in Beth Kery's 8 part serial novel. It seems each installment is two steps forward, one step back for this couple.

We finally see closeness and Ian opening up to Francesca. Then, the next morning, Ian abruptly leaves town and refuses to tell Francesca where he is going. She thinks he is backing off because she got too close, and tells him it is over if he leaves. He left anyway.

Though Francesca swore him off, when he returns, he has the most thoughtful, incredible gift. She couldn't stay away anyway, but this gift cemented her coming back.

Why did she have to find him so irresistible? He was like a drug in her system, but it was worse than that kind of addiction. Worse because her soul was involved. Worse because she couldn’t help but see a part of Ian’s soul as well….couldn’t help but be haunted by it.
Then, finally, the two of them have a fun, light, carefree day together. It was great to finally see the relaxed side of Ian. In fact, several weeks pass with a deepening level of intimacy. But then one BIG step back happens again *sigh*.....

This installment was more about getting to know the characters than the sex, (though there was some of that too) and I really enjoyed it.

I can't imagine how this can be wrapped up with a happily ever after next week. Maybe a happy for now.....

Rating for this installment: 4.5 stars, 4.5 for Heat

Back and forth, back and forth. That's how I felt this book went. Franscesca shows her teeth, then she covers them. Then she shows them again, only to cover them again. Then she searches his tablet's history and discovers a part of his secret. I knew that right there it was the beginning of a big crisis but also the piece that would complete the puzzle. I was sure Ian would be beyond furious when he would find out about what she did.

I enjoyed the cute scene between her and Jacob. It was sweet.

Ian's comming back was a good scene, too. I liked how he approved of his friend's relationship with Zoe.

Then the second chapter was a really great chapter. He surprised her with the paintings. I would hardly say that was controlling. It was actually really sweet. Then Davie tried to help her see what she couldn't see. That Ian cares as well but can't show it in any other way. Franscesca being naughty and pleasing Ian while he is on phone made me laugh. It was a really good move.
I would have liked it more if Ian hadn't 'punished' her after that.
Actually that was one of my favourite chapters because he did show more of feelings and she did try to put some rules in the 'relationship'. However, my favourite part was when he said he would try to be less controlling out of the bedroom.

Wow and OMG. This book is just so erotic that it should top the charts. The first novella Because you Tempt Me was very slow going. I now really do understand the need to set up the plot and introduce the characters. It takes time. So the first novella was not that great but I still gave it 4 stars because the first erotic scene was just so hot. The couple Francesca Arno and Ian Noble are fencing and he being the expert that he is playfully slips his blade under the strap to her tank top and quickly slices through it. Later, once he is very close to her he cannot control his urge to kiss her and then in passion pulls her tank top/bra to expose her breast quickly he covers her breast with his mouth and well you just have to read the first novella and the rest will be history. The whole book is even more descriptive of the BDSM sex scenes.

I joined Goodread this year in April and not until this book have I read and learned more about the devises that are used for sexual pleasure. The book is very descriptive and therefore it is easy to visualize the sexual tools and how they are used and the manner that they help each person achieve the goal of sexual satisfaction. I now have a wish list of items that I will be buying in the near future.

I find myself a little more frustrated with Ian & Francesca this week in Part VII. I feel like the strong & independent Francesca I know has taken a vacation to let a more passive girl run her life. She is rightful pissed at Ian's dismissal of her feeling & unexplained actions. He leaves without answering her and while making her seem & feel like a needy brat, doesn't call, doesn't apologize, doesn't say what he was doing, gives her NOTHING; and yet she just makes him agree to be less controlling outside of sex. Then she is all better just like that. No questions, no apologizes, NOTHING. All because he is sexy. Come on. Not my Francesca. She would hold firm. Require him to at least apologize for his rude behavior but no. I found this utterly frustrating! Then she is surprised & hurt because he did it again? Really?!? She didn't request or require anything different from him. Ugh....

"Because You Are Mine Part VII: Because I Need To" by Beth Kery is the 7th part of a novella that's been divided into 8 parts.
In part 7, we see Ian opening up to Francesca and the next morning abruptly leaving town without telling where he is going. Francesca thinks that the reason is, because she got too close and tells him it's over if he leaves. He leaves anyway and when he returns he has a wonderful gift that makes Francesca coming back.
They develop a deeper relationship and we see Ian more relaxed, being spontaneous and letting go of control. But then, Ian's secrets have tested Francesca again and leaving her without telling her...the only way for them to move forward is Francesca to follow Ian to London, what will she do?

This part was about getting to know the characters, to opening up,...it's another amazing installment, loved and enjoyed it.

"I really do spoil you" "I wouldn't do this for anyone else. I want you to know that." "That's the sweetest thing you've ever said to me" (Maybe because you're the sweetest thing that's ever happened to me) He regretted not saying those words back to her... My, my Mr. Noble is starting to change after all! Just one more book. Will there be I love yous? I hope the heck so...

Sadly, Cesca is following him to London... What will she find? Him intimate with Julia? I think not. He loves her too much. I think they're trying to find a cure for his Mother's disease. Him leaving without so much a word, not acceptable. I'm not impressed with Mr. Noble that's for sure! He better not get pissed for her following him to London. He had the chance to tell her, now she will find out!

Final conclusion anytime now!

I feel like this series is getting a little slow, but maybe is because the end is near and we all want more Ian and his dominating awesomeness. Francesca is getting more submissive in bed and more demanding in real life. This relationship is doomed to failure, but start fresh is good thing for these tow.

I liked this new and soft side of Ian, but once again he closes up and Francesca is tossed to the side. I wanted to see Ian more human, but he still treats Francesca like a teenager that does nothing right. Francesca is better now and start to stand up for herself and I liked this side of her, but want Ian to see she deserve something better.

Best installment of this 8 part story so far.....I like how Ian is showing more of himself and relaxing....we are getting to the emotional part of the story and I like that. I am trying very hard to control my slapping hand because at times Francesca annoys me. But I will keep it reserved for Part 8. I hope we are not let down. I am looking forward to the last part of this story.

From what I can tell, this is just a novel broken up into 2 chapter segments. Honestly, I would have preferred to just read the whole novel instead of having it broken up.
One thing I would say, is that it seems the conflicts the couple goes through in this book are much more quickly and simply resolved than that of other novels. Maybe a bit more drama or making the drama that's there a bit more difficult to recover from would have added some dimension to the story.

These have become quite addicting and can't seem to stop reading until I've really them all. Have gotten very much ensnared in Ian and Francesca's steamy and tumultuous love affair. These installments aren't as deeply layered or complex as Fifty Shades or Bared to you or If I Were You but they're still enjoyable enough to have kept my interest piqued. This being said, onto the last one.

Best one so far. Hot as lava love scenes and gut-wrenching emotional turmoil. We're getting more into Ian's thoughts as we near the conclusion of the serial. I can't wait to see what happens if Francesca goes to search for him in London. I have an idea of what she may find, but I'll keep my speculation to myself. :)

This one was so much better. I've finally warmed up to Ian... Btw, for some reason I thought he was in his mid-thirties but turns out he's just thirty and, considering the bits that have been revealed about his feelings on this book, now his appeal to a girl as Francesca doesn't seem as crazy to me as before, although I still think sometimes she's too immature for a man like him.

This review is the book as a whole, not each individual book.

One of the hottest erotic books I have read to date! I had to keep turning the pages. Ending was a little disappointing, but everything leading up to it was amazing. I love all the hot scenes between the characters. Excited to see what else this author has to offer. Look forwarding to reading more of your work!

I am impatient with the two chapters at a time and while I am on the subject I am impatient with how short the book is going to be - not a lot of character development.

BTW - So clear to me that the London thing is all about his Mother. Hello people.

I really liked this to start but as I kept having to wait from week to week to read next chapters, I lost interest. It would talk almost the whole two chapters to get back into it and then it would be over again.

I was hoping to "get over" the way that this book is being released but I CAN'T. Senseless price gouging and an absolutely ridiculous way to read a book. I will never buy anything by this author again.
