I feel like the whole shadows thing is getting out of hand.. I realize that the couples have to have SOMETHING to overcome.. but each book is getting more and more 'out there' especially from the base story line started. There should be plenty of other things to overcome for each couple to come together... This is why I took a break from reading this to read another book.. I honestly wasn't sure I wanted to finish it. The next book seems like its getting away from the new shadow arc so I'm going to give it a try but seriously... if its like a major thing in it I have a feeling this series will be DROPPED like a hot potato

I love that there are generally only two sex scenes in these books, ones that make total sense. By necessity, the plots have to be different because of the setup. It's a clever set up and interesting. I like it a lot. The last book had lots of peril and omg moments. This one did too but they were on the beginning and middle not near the end. And the resolution of the conflict (yes, there are actual real plots!) was also clever. (Although why Jake didn't consider using his favor to get the situation fixed I don't know. I also haste that only the evil and stupid guy is fat and the fact that he is fat is how he is described.
The best thing I can say about this series is that is not pwp. Even though we have fated mates, insta love, and everyone is gay, there is a reasonably good plot. They aren't the most intellectually stimulating but good for a mindless read. Plus they are short and quick.
As usual the beta, Lucky, has a terrible and abusive history. But this time the Alpha has no idea what's going on because although he live on The RRR he hasn't been there in two months so is unaware of the recent matings. I found some of these scenes to be a bit much. There was one scene where during the knotting Cole attempts to fight a perceived threat.... while still attached to Lucky. EW. There was also a new development in the Beta's. I think we will see some mpreg in the future. This wasn't my favorite installment.
A fun series. Very unique characters and stories. The author takes great advantage of the fact that these are fiction and comes up with some entertaining theories on shifters and mating.
I've read all 13 that are currently out and they've gone through all kinds of things including amnesia, shadows, knots to dark/light compounds and even male pregnancy with all kinds of hot, sexy men. So much going on and I only touched on the tip of the topics - all mixed in with hot sex - what's not to enjoy!!
Cole and Lucky. I really liked how this started, but then it took a turn for the crazy. This new development can suck it. I hate it. Not sure I want to continue with this series, but I bought the next 4, so I will stick with it until then.
