Will Our Generation Speak? is filled with dialog--recounting witnessing conversations and giving practical ideas for beginning conversations with unbelievers about the Lord. It teaches how to ask good questions and answer objections, while illustrating points with humorous cartoons and stories. Written from a young perspective, this book gives other young people a vision of how much the Lord can use them in the years of their youth! It communicates how exciting it is to be working alongside the God of the Universe in the mission of saving souls, and it gives young people courage from the Word to combat fear and reject excuses. "Will Our Generation Speak? is a wonderful, practical, and very timely publication. Never before in history has the Church so needed to speak up and to speak clearly. This book does that and it tells you how to do it, with practical examples and inspiring heart-warming personal experiences. It's fuel for your fire ..." --Ray Comfort, Founder of Living Waters, cohost of Way of the Master "Witnessing often makes people nervous, but it's important that we share our faith. Grace Mally shares practical tools that work!" --The Duggar Family, TLC's 19 Kids and Counting "Grace Mally ... shows how to break the ice and introduce people to the good news of the Gospel. --Jeff Myers, Ph.D., President, Summit Ministries
This question is one that made me think...how often do I speak up? Am I hindered by fear to speak God's Word to those around me? The author has dived into that question carefully throughout each chapter. I especially loved the last few chapters of this book, bringing up the fact that we are called as believers to present the gospel to others.
I was a little incredulous about all the real-life examples given in this book, especially when so much dialogue was remembered. I kept wondering if they wrote out all those conversations after they witnessed. But that was just a slight distraction from the rest of the book. I would have like a little "more" at times, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. All the doctrinal statements I agree with, and I love her focus on God's Word :) This is a book that convicts and makes you think :)
As soon as I heard that one of the Mally’s had written another book, I knew I wanted to buy it. Grace certainly did not disappoint. Will Our Generation Speak? is an excellent book for Christians of all ages, but it is written specifically for young adults. The title of the first chapter says, “Only One Chance to be Young!” As young people, we have the advantage of being less intimidating in our efforts to witness. Grace encourages us to make use of this advantage and not wait any longer to start speaking. One of the biggest lessons I learned from this book is that people are open to the Gospel. When I witness I usually feel like I’m intruding on people, yet Grace tells story after story about how grateful people are to have an opportunity to learn about God and ask questions they’ve been holding inside. If want to witness more, learn how to witness better or work on conquering your fear, this book is a must read.
This was a mixed read for me. On the one hand, I really appreciated that this was written by a young person for young people. It deals with a very relevant and important topic, and I loved the author's enthusiasm for sharing the gospel. I also really enjoyed the stories Mally included - it's great to hear how lives are being changed by Christ! However, I struggled with the way in which Mally advocates sharing the gospel. I've encountered 'The Way of the Master' evangelism training before and have come away with a bitter taste in my mouth. It's too regimental and structured for me, almost as if they are saying 'this is the only way to share the gospel.' And starting off evangelizing by telling people how bad they are and that they will be going to hell just doesn't quite sit right with me. Yes, I know that people need to know how bad the situation is. But do they really need to be crushed with the law? The majority of people that you meet will already realize that they are broken and in need of help - they don't need to be crushed further with news of law-breaking and damnation. They need love and grace and the good news of life in Jesus. This issue of law vs grace is something that I've pondered a lot in the past, and I've come up with the conclusion that people need love shared with them, not law. People need grace and the good news of salvation, not the threat of hell held over their heads. Telling people they are going to go to hell is not, I think, the best way to win them to Christ. Showing them God's love for them is. So all in all, I think this book has some very valuable traits about it, and I learnt from it. But I do disagree with the way Mally advocates doing evangelism. Thus the 4* instead of 5.
I don’t agree with all of the suggested methods and she falls painfully short on what it takes to receive salvation, but this book has so inspired me to be more bold in sharing the Gospel and to actively look for opportunities. When I consider that the main objective in a Christian’s life is to know Jesus and make Him known, it is shocking how short I fall and so incredibly sad that this topic isn’t more intentionally trained . We pray in church to “be a light” or “share the Gospel”, but EXACTLY that looks like and how to go about it is something we need to be talking about and equipped to do! I pray I will have courage and boldness and be ready with an answer whenever the chance comes like Ms. Mally exemplified.
This is a book I'd recommend for each and every Christian young person to read. If you're already sharing your faith with others, this book will be an encouragement to you and likely provide you with some new ideas on places and ways to share your faith. If you aren't already sharing your faith with others, this book will convict you, and show you just how important it is for each one of us to be reaching the lost for Christ. In this book, Grace shares reasons for why we should share the Gospel, ways to go about doing it, and answers to questions you might get asked while witnessing, plus a whole lot more.
This book was so incredibly convicting, I was nearly moved to tears! Grace writes in a way that is captivating, challenging, and encouraging. I appreciated the tons of personal witnessing stories she included, and the consistent use of scripture throughout the entire book. I was encouraged by the list of questions (and then descriptive answers) that were provided as conversation starters and tract explanations. This tool continued to make me challenge myself- what is keeping me from sharing the gospel more boldly and regularly? What material things am I letting use up the time I could be using to make others think of their spiritual life? How am I doing in my personal spiritual life? We should be "ready (and willing) always to give an answer to every man that asketh us a reason of the hope that is in us with meekness and fear." If you are wanting to witness more, learn HOW to witness BETTER, or work on overcoming fear, this book is for you! A must read! For all ages. Read and be challenged.
I really enjoyed and was inspired by this book. It is well written and presented. The illustrations are really funny and all the testimonies and stories it is full of really bring this book to life. If you want to shine brighter for our Lord by witnessing to others then this is the book for you! There are so many different ideas in here, conversation starters, encouragement and everything. It is written for young people but I think people of any age would benefit!
This book could challenge you though. It may move you, so if you just want to arrive in heaven relaxed instead of exhausted having given all you could to God then don't read this. But if you want tips on how to speak out for our faith, how to spread the Truth, and share the Gospel then you need to read this.
I think this book tore apart every excuse I've ever had to not share the Gospel. It is extremely practical, full of tips and strategies for sharing the Gospel and even a few answers for common arguments against it. It is full of Christ - He our Motive for sharing the Gospel, our Source giving us the ability to share the Gospel, and our Reward for sharing the Gospel!
Perhaps the most encouraging - and convicting - part of this book for me was a glimpse at the life of the one who wrote it. It is absolutely full of stories of how she herself has shared the Gospel. For her, the things in this book are not just suggestions and good thoughts, they are her way of life. She does not just go out and witness - she is a witness; it is not something she just does, but something she is.
If you want to be encouraged and built up in the area of evangelism, I highly recommend this book. But remember, if evangelism is lacking in your life, the answer is not a book on evangelism (though it could be helpful!). The answer is Jesus Christ, and obedience to Him. As Ray Comfort says, "Find a sinner and practice on him!"
Grace and her family are inspiring examples of whole-hearted and courageous dedication to witnessing and ministry. It’s encouraging to hear the many, many examples of how God has used them to reach out to others - we need more bold believers like them! I appreciated the many practical tips and conversation starters throughout the book, as well as the chapters on apologetics.
I’m giving this book only 4 stars because I think it would benefit from more emphasis on the free abundance of God’s grace (its lack of mention in this book is ironic given the author’s name) and the work of the Holy Spirit in our outreach. As it is written, it would be easy to be propelled into a place of anxiety about the responsibility of witnessing, or to fall into fear-based manipulation of others in these outreach conversations. Let’s make sure we share our faith because we are so close to Jesus we just can’t help but talk about how amazing He is - not because witnessing is another box to check off on our “good Christian” to-do list, in hopes God will be satisfied with us!
“Will Our Generation Speak” by Grace Mally was given to me as a Christmas present from my best friend and I was very blessed by reading it. Grace, a young Christian lady in her twenties writes why it is important for this generation to be bold in their witness for Christ. Through seventeen chapters, she gives examples from her own experience, practical advice and encouragement on how to share your faith with people of all ages and backgrounds.
What drew me in to this book was Grace’s writing style – from the first sentence I was hooked! Her writing style is easy to read, humble and captivating. As I read, it felt like I was having a conversation with her instead of merely reading words on a page. Grace explains her beliefs and techniques clearly and from a Biblical perspective with Scripture to back it up.
The second thing I really love about this book is how Grace gives you practical tools that show you how to witness instead of just telling you that you need to spread the Gospel. She shares “do’s and don’ts” from her personal experience and growth from witnessing, and draws on previous conversations to help you understand what people may say or think when sharing the Gospel with them. For example, chapter thirteen is titled “Seventeen Ways to Start a Conversation” and chapter ten walks you through how to handle scenarios when people aren’t open or receptive to what you’re sharing. I thought it was especially helpful how Grace explained that we are just the messengers – our job is to deliver the message - not make people accept it; we shouldn’t feel like we failed when people aren’t interested in hearing about the Gospel.
Another thing I really like about “Will Our Generation Speak” is how Grace encourages young people to witness because of our age. In one chapter, she shows how being young is a help and not a hindrance to sharing Jesus, which I think would be a great encouragement to younger people if they were to hear it!
If you’re looking for a book on evangelism or witnessing, I would highly recommend this volume as your “starter” book to lay a solid foundation. You will be encouraged by what Grace has to say while learning easy, basic ways to get started. It is obvious from reading Grace’s experiences that witnessing is something she does a lot in her hometown, and to me, that means you can trust the advice she gives, knowing it is effective. If more people (of all ages!) would get a hold of a book like this and really take in what it says, they would be equipped to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a friendly, non-offensive way and impact the world for Christ! I can’t say enough good things about “Will Our Generation Speak!” Highly recommended!
I read the paperback version of this book, published by Tomorrow’s Forefathers, Inc. and is 280 pages in length.
Wow, really good book. Lots of good ways to tell others the Good News of Christ. And it's more than just a "witnessing book" - I didn't only learn about good witnessing skills, but good conversation skills, as well. It's full of good illustrations, true stories, and biblical principles. It presents the truth that exposes and destroys the lies of many fears, and calls for our generation to rise above our selfishness and fears and do all to the glory of God!
One of many things I loved about this book was how Ms. Mally incorporated a ton of testimonies. I loved seeing how God's hand moved in so many unique and creative ways to open doors for witnessing. Grace Mally did a fantastic job of writing this book, and it has given me some really good tips for how to start conversations, keep people engaged in conversation, and so much more!
This is a book that EVERY Christian needs to read. Practical advice permeates each page as you learn not only from Grace but her friends and family as well ways to be bold with the Gospel and fulfill the Great Commission.
this book was incredibly convicting! just like her sister Sarah, Grace addressed the issue at hand (the lack of evangelism in the young adults) without sounding like "I'm better than you".
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
This book is a wake-up call to today’s youth: Get off the couch and preach the gospel! It is written by a young lady and the many examples she shares are refreshing and educational. A great book study!
This was an amazing book on witnessing. It was very practical, helpful, and Christ centered. A must read for anyone who wants to be a better teller of the gospel.
