Good gravy! The poor Robertson family has had a tough year. From Chris's "death" to Cassie's stalker to Colton almost losing Pen to madman. Yet, they've weathered the storms and Cassie and Colton have found happiness. And now it's Chris's turn.

Seriously, poor Chris. He's dealing with physical issues from his imprisonment and torture. Major ones. He has a lot of emotional baggage that came from his capture, too. As one would expect. Joining Colton and Jake in the new business has given him a reason to push himself to heal but it's slow going. Being near Julie when he feels like half a man isn't easy and the emotional toll that takes seems even more brutal than the physical.

And Julie? MY GAWD! The poor girl is practically a walking time bomb. Just when her life is starting to turn around and she's getting a handle on her issues, life beats her down with a REALLY BIG STICK. She deals with it as best she can but it's not pretty. Chris's seeming disinterest in her romantically is a pretty brutal blow, although he didn't mean for it to be. The two of them have a few communication issues they need to work through, clearly.

Throw a man with sinister intentions into the mix and Chris and Julie are fighting for more than just each other's love -- they're fighting to stay alive. Chris gets injured as much here as he did when he was captured. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit. But he is roughed up quite a few times.

A little heartbreaking, a little nerve-wracking, and sexy enough to make me grin -- I'm sad to see this series end. It's been a crazy, dangerous ride and I'll miss these guys. (until I read the novellas. *finger guns*)

I read all the books in this series, they are excellent good reading.. the stories are deep and touching for all the characters involved at some points I was crying and at others I was laughing and smiling.. the entire time I could not put the books down or stop reading, they are sure to be books that I return to over and over to reread. I was actually sad when I was finished with the last book I did not want to let go of the characters and their lives. Outstanding job Christi, you have a fan for life and I look forward to reading more of your books.

Operation: Endurance is the third and final book in Christi Snow’s After the Mission Ends trilogy. I have enjoyed this series, especially this book.

This is Chris and Julie’s story. Both have been through more crap than anyone should in their lifetime and both more than deserve a happy ending. We know from the end of book one what hell Chris has been through but Julie is more of a mystery. We know she keeps mostly to herself, she’s a physiotherapist and she likes things organized. Other than that, we don’t know much. As expected, you learn all you need to know in this book but you learn even more in the prequel novella, Before the Mission Begins (which I strongly recommend you read before Operation: Endurance. Not mandatory, but recommended). We learn that Julie suffers from OCD and is also dealing with traumatic events that happened when she was quite young. But she’s not your typical damaged heroine because she has a strong and loving relationship with her parents and her sister. I liked that. Not every main character needs to come from a broken home in order to have a compelling story. Oh, and let’s not forget that Julie’s boyfriend was shot by a crazy man recently. For all that Julie has gone through she is handling things very well. She is stronger than she gives herself credit for. She could easily whine and think that her life sucks but she’s not like that. And Chris could easily be that way too but he’s not either.

Think of a tortured soul and double it. Now you have Chris. That poor man deserves all of the hugs you are going to want to give him. And again, he’s not a whiny annoying little man. He and Julie both understand that they can’t go through their issues alone and need help. I was SO happy Christi wrote her main characters this way and feel like more authors should. Yes, this is fiction, but you can’t always write characters who are so super-power strong that they either miraculously heal themselves or heal each other. That is not realistic, especially after what Chris and Julie have gone through, and it’s great to see that Christi realized this. It helped make her characters so much more real.

Chris and Julie absolutely deserve each other. Not only because they both know hardship but also because they complement one another perfectly. As you can imagine, this is a pretty heavy book. But don’t worry about it being too heavy. Christi writes a wonderful balance between emotional and sweet. It’s not an easy book to read but it’s definitely worth it. Chris and Julie have incredible chemistry – it’s hot and sexy – but it’s also sweet and romantic.

There is a wedding scene in this book. Christi mentioned that she cried while writing it and I can see why. It’s a lovely scene and the vows were very touching. I didn’t cry, but I definitely smiled and found myself thinking “aww” while reading.

Even though there was more than enough angst and drama to write an entire book with just Chris and Julie’s issues (alone and with each other), there was a sub plot involving a serial rapist in this book. The mystery was well written and the bad guy came as a surprise. This is not a nice man and what he does in this book is not pleasant. At all. Yet you totally feel for the guy by the end of the book. Christi did a great job there. It would have been so much easier for her to write a nasty piece of work you just wanted to hate but she didn’t. She’s a brave one that Christi. Honestly, I would have been completely happy with the story without the serial rapist portion but then it would not have been a very good romantic suspense story, would it? So even though I found it was not a need, I found it was well written.

Overall, I really enjoyed Operation: Endurance. I believe it’s Christi’s best book to date. I found Chris and Julie’s relationship progressed naturally and was written extremely well. This could not have been an easy book to write yet Christi does a great job of it. Through books one and two you know something happened between Julie and Chris yet you never really find out what. Now you do and adding that teaser in the first books really helped make this book all the more special to read. This is a wonderful couple and a great book. If you are looking for a book that will tug on your heart strings, start with Operation: Endgame then move towards this book. I’m sure you will love this couple as much as I do.

If you have not read the first book in this series Operation: Endgame there is a spoiler for that book in this review. I just want to give a heads up to potential readers on that.

When the series ends... This is a bit sad for me. I've gotten to know the Robertson's, their friends and loved ones, various members of the community where they live. That is one of the nice things about all the books in the When the Mission Ends series , they are all real people that you could possibly or perhaps do know.

I found Julie so easy to relate to, so it made her a heroine that was smooth to read and immediately fall in love with. I have a severe case of CDO. (That's OCD alphabetized as it should be.) I make the people around me suffer it with me too. Julie uses her lists as a type of security blanket. If she has her lists she can keep everything in control. She often reflects back to a time when she took her sisters advice and tried for a change. Things went well with the change initially, yet when things fell apart the events were of monumental tragic proportions. Julie's a smart gal. To keep from repeating a traumatic time in her life she fell back to her old habits and is hanging on to them like her life depends on it. As she sees it her life does depend on it, it being her lists.

Chris is the twin brother that was mistaken for dead. His siblings, friends, and would be girlfriend buried him. His phenomenal network of family and friends have allowed him to make an incredible recovery from the whole horrific ordeal. At just over a year later he is almost back to pre-crash Chris. He is still having nightmares. He went through an event that is nightmare worthy. He still has a few physical impairments, but he is giving everything all he has. The only thing that is not as he feels it should be is whatever he and Julie had. He knows it was just a short weekend, but he knows deep down that there was something there. Chis is not a quitter and he refuses to give that what could be up.

This is such an emotional read. Chris and Julie are struggling to find their place together. Even when they believe all they will have is a good friendship they are still struggling towards just that. They have all these jumbled feelings that they are not expressing. To add to their issues Julie is unraveling and dragging herself down towards extreme exhaustion and Chris is being threatened for something he has no clue to. After all these two have been through you want them to get their happily ever after. There are so many road blocks to their happily ever after though. All of this makes for a suspenseful read.

The couples from the past books are all present and being the incredible support system that they all have been to each other through out the series. I was very pleased to see more of them.

I’ve LOVED this book twice now. And it is still hard to review. Finales of series are hard on their own, much less one fraught with so much damage and unlikely HEA. Shirley and Felicia called it perfectly. They both guessed that Chris’ story was going to be a tough one. A tough one on both Chris and Julie and us the readers.

We’ve watched Chris struggle with the torture he suffered from in OPERATION: ENDGAME through OPERATION: ENDEAVOR. And if it wasn’t for big brother, Colton, and Jake’s formation of Mad Rob, then I think there’d be no recovery. But the beautiful thing is that CHRISTI SNOW didn’t know how broken he truly was. His resistance was fiercer than it should have been from a Robertson boy and military men. He was made of stronger stock, so what was causing the hurt?

Julie is the friend that floats in the background. We were just starting to get glimpses of her and her talents in OPERATION: ENDEAVOR when she was dealt tragedy. Her fiancé was gun down senselessly.

WOW! The perfect storm converged in BEFORE THE MISSION BEGINS. It gave us a rich back story for Chris and Julie. Their short time together ratcheted up the heat index for a Texas Valentine’s Day. But it left us also reeling from all the implications it had on OPERATION: ENDEAVOR. It really left me and her other fans anxious to reread to see if there were hints, but mostly anxious for their whole story to come front and center. Bring on OPERATION: ENDURANCE.

This whole series is about FAMILY and FRIENDS. You’ve already witnessed how much these six will do for each other. It seemed very fitting that that trend only grew stronger in this book. SNOW knows how to push her characters through Hell and I wasn’t sure they’d come out the other side. Chris and Julie both think they know what is best for the other. And of course, they are both wrong. This need to protect the other one is what makes them such strong characters and made for each other. Every moment between them is electrically charged, but they continued to resist it.

Their journey among the most horrific of serial crimes really worked my heart out. I mean a real roller-coaster of emotions. Spikes of adrenaline rushes, tears, butterflies, sighs and physical shaking of the book. SNOW shows us that HEAs have to be worked for and earned. They aren’t just given out.

I am so happy that there will be an additional novella in our future. Though I think she ended the series perfectly, there is another story to tell and the updates are adding up. You know like weddings and maybe even babies or puppies. Whichever, Im not picky.

The Happiest Endings are sometimes the Hardest Stories.

Ever read a book that you didn’t want to put down, but couldn’t bear the thought of reaching the last page? That’s the inner battle I had going on as I read Operation: Endurance. I couldn’t wait to get to this couple’s story, but I knew when I did, my time with the Robertson’s would be over. Combine that with the fact that Christi Snow saved the most heart wrenching story for last and it’s no wonder I was a teary mess by the time I finished. *sigh*

The hero and heroine in Operation: Endurance were broken. There’s simply no other way to put it. Readers were given a glimpse of their history together in Before the Mission Begins, but nothing prepared us for what they experienced from the end of that novella to where they were by the beginning of this book. We obviously knew that things were hard for both of them, but getting the bits and pieces from them first hand gave us a whole new perspective. A very vivid, sometimes hard to read and heart breaking perspective.

I can’t say all the tears were sad ones. There were a lot of happy moments in Operation: Endurance. Some were expected tears of joy and some were surprises. There were also a few mysteries, a fair amount of danger, some unexpected surprises (both good and bad) and a chapter that totally blew me away – and probably not for the reasons you think. You’ll just have to read it to believe it, trust me.

One of the things I have liked about this series since the beginning is how character driven it is. The love, support and connection between these characters is what pulled me in and that force never wained. The men were as alpha and protective as they come and the women were just as strong and loyal to each other as they were to the men they loved. They were smart, witty and supportive. I fell in love with them from the moment I read the prologue of Operation: Endgame and by the end of Operation: Endurance I felt like I knew them all.

Needless to say, I’m sorry the journey with the Robertson’s is over, but I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of them. There’s another novella in the works featuring a couple we met in Operation: Endurance and Christi Snow’s next series will feature a family she introduced in When the Mission Ends. I can’t wait!

Let me just say this.... I frickin love this series!

Operation Endurance was well worth the wait...well worth the build up. The reader finally gets to see Chris Robertson in his full glory. After all of the torment and torture Chris has endured he has had to not only gain his life back but rebuild it in a new way. The one thing he left behind before he went on his fatal mission was a weekend romance with his twin sister's best friend Julie. When he returned to the living she had moved on and was engaged. Now that her fiance has passed away, Chris is biding his time, waiting for Julie. This time he is playing for keeps.

Both Julie and Chris are wounded souls. Both have had a boatload of crap dealt to them in life. Both have their own coping mechanisms. Both find that they can help each other heal but they have to deal with their demons and let their secrets out. At the same time there is a serial killer & rapist terrorizing the women in Lubach. No one knows what his motives are or who the next victim will be. But the killer has focused on Julie...she is the ultimate prize. Will Chris be able to save her from herself , repair the loss of their whirlwind romance, convince her they a future before the madman claims her. You will have to read the book!

I highly recommend this series and it is best to read them in order.

Meant to post this review a while ago. Christi sucked me in with Operation Endgame and each book continued to pull me in further. Operation Endurance was honestly my favorite simply for the sheer amount of emotions. What these two went through was hell and I was rooting for them to find their way back to each other the whole time.

Chris...ugh Chris really pulled at my heart strings. They guy has gone through so much and the issues he had to deal with in the aftermath felt real and raw. While Christi is very talented at weaving such suspenseful romances, I felt like she went deep into the underlying issues with these two and it brought this story to a whole other level for me. There were times with humor that made me laugh and other parts that I was fighting tears...and totally losing.

Christi is an amazing storyteller and with each and every book it only gets better. I look forward to reading more of her books. If you enjoy romance with some great action and suspense (and some serious sexual tension) you definitely need to pick her books up.

Chris Robertson is trying to get on with his life after a mission went horribly wrong. He still has injuries that are affecting his life. He is also still in love with his sister's best friend Julie who he had one remarkable weekend before the mission. But his injuries keep him from pursuing the woman he loves.

Julie is still struggling with her OCD and her boyfriends death. She's afraid to fall in love again and afraid that her friends will learn her secrets.

Chris moves into the townhouse next to Julie, all her friends are worried about her. She's not sleeping or eating and they figure with Chris close by he can keep an eye on her. It's not easy for Chris to watch the woman he loves suffer, but he is going through his own personal problem and doesn't want to get his or her hopes up.

Julie gets worried when she finds out about the assaults that are happening. She increases her self-defense classes to help others be prepared. With her not sleeping or eating her own defenses are down. Can Chris keep her safe?

Christi has done it again. Her writing keeps you guessing, you know something is going to happen but when, who and where will keep you in suspense.

This is the third book in the trilogy and there is also a novella that explains what happened between Chris & Julie. You will have a better knowledge of this story if you read the others before.

It took me a little while to get myself to write this review, mostly because once I do that means it's over-and I'm just too attached to these characters to let them go.

Ever since I read the first book-Operation Endgame, I have been waiting for Chris and Julie's story. At times begging the author to hurry up, and getting particuliarly possessive when others swooned over the sneak peeks of who I think of as "My Chris".
That being said, Endurance is the perfect ending to this trilogy of very hot military alpha's who fall in love with 3 friends while battling terrorists, rapists, and serial killers- but not all at once. Romantic suspense is the best ;)!! The books stand alone on their own, but are best read in succession and they get better with each installlment.
In this book, we get the backstories of our very damaged hero and heroine. Julie is not your typical heroine, she is flawed but so strong and keeps so much to herself. Chris is still healing both physically and mentally from being held prisoner.
As a reader of the 2 books (and novella) before this, you wonder how these two are ever going to overcome their obstacles and get it together but they do- and it all unfolds perfectly.
Did I forget to mention the sex?? H.O.T.- read it for yourself. You DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS SERIES!!!

Finally it’s Chris book and we got to see again all the family and cry a little in some points. Let’s face it, this was the most emotional book in the series, maybe because it’s the last one, or maybe because Chris suffered so much and he deserved a happy ending. And I hoping for some babies and weddings and of course and bad guy too.

Maybe I’m lunatic, but Chris has been through a lot in last year and a half, so a do over in a relationship was more than necessary and we all got to see that Julie was also facing a few demons after some stuff happened in her childhood, but these two are so cute together. They helped each other heel and are such nice couple.

I had a few thoughts along the book of who was responsible for the deaths and was so nervous in the last chapters after I realized he would get Julie, I definitely cheering for Chris to show up and save the day. This was my favorite book and I want more of this family, maybe the next generation?

This was my favorite... I think. Chris and Julie really needed their own HEA. They had been through so much and it was clear that they truly cared for each other. They both had real life issues to deal with- Chris's PTSD and his captivity's physical injuries and Julie had one heck of a case of OCD. She made lots and lots of lists.

I have to say that I'd really like more from these two.

Anyhoo, I just really enjoyed this series and I was sad to see it end when there was still so much going on with this group (babies and marriage etc). Now, I know that we are getting Toni and Brian's novella in the Fall and a Martin series. But I just want more Chris, Cassie and Colton! :)

Out of the first few books in this series, this one is my least favorite. It’s pretty dull and uneventful. I literally skimmed most of the book. It was just dialogue between friends, and the main female character Julie getting sick. Skip this book, it’s nothing special.

Disclaimer: I know Christi as a fellow reader and book blogger in addition to being an author. That said, my review is completely my honest and unbiased opinion of this book.

3½ stars

Why I Read this Book: I've enjoyed reading this series and after reading the Before the Mission Begins novella, I was excited to finally read Chris and Julie's book. I’m a little sad that this series has come to an end but I know the author has some other books/series in the works.

What I Liked: The main reason I wanted to read this book was for the hero and heroine, especially after that novella! Chris has been a part of this series since the very first book and my heart has ached from him ever since. He’s a wounded hero, in more ways than one. Both Chris and Julie each had some issues to work out and I enjoyed reading each of their journeys.

I love it when an author provides snippets from villain’s POV and Christi Snow does that without giving too much away. I got just enough of the villain’s back story, to provide a little reasoning for their antagonistic ways. Also, I’m a reader who likes guessing at who the villain is. I usually have all kinds of notes going back and forth between possible suspects in the romance suspense novels I read. I did correctly guess who the villain was at one point but found myself second guessing my choice, so it wasn't like it was an obvious thing.

What I Didn’t Like: Chris has a debilitating physical condition that was too easily resolved and this miracle couldn’t have happened at a better time for him. It was just too convenient.

I wasn’t fond of the paranormal element. If it had been just one scene, and stayed in that one scene, I would have been fine with it but as it stood, it carried over into the story line too much for my liking. This is more of a personal preference than an actual fault with the book or the writing. Most readers probably won’t even mind this paranormal element in the slightest.

Overall Impression: Operation: Endurance wasn’t my favorite book in the series but it was still an enjoyable read. I am so happy that Chris finally got his HEA, as it’s been a long journey for him. And I’m glad that Toni (a secondary character in this book) will get a novella and her own HEA. She deserves it.
