ஜாதா 1982-ல் எழுதிய நாவல். குறிக்கோள் ஏதுமின்றி குற்றங்களே பிழைப்பாக வாழ்க்கை நடத்துபவனின் போக்கில் மனத்துக்கு இதமாக குறுக்கிடுகிறாள் ஒரு பெண். புதிர் நிரம்பியவளாக வசீகரிக்கிறாள். அவளுக்காகவே தனது வாழ்க்கையை மாறுபட்டு வாழவேண்டும் எனக் கருதும்போது, செய்த குற்றங்களின் நிழல் அவனை விடாமல் துரத்துகிறது. தவிர அப்பெண்ணின் பின்னணியில் அவிழும் புதிர் எதிர்பாராத முடிவை நோக்கி நகர்த்துகிறது.

About the author

Sujatha was the allonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan, Author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.

As an engineer, he supervised the design and production of the electronic voting machine (EVM) during his tenure at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a machine which is currently used in elections throughout India. As an author he inspired many authors, including Balakumaran, Madhan.

ஒரு காட்சியின் முடிவைக் “கட்” செய்து அதே காட்சியில் முடியும் நிகழ்வை வைத்து அடுத்த காட்சியை “ஓபன்” செய்யும் டெக்னிக் சமீபகாலமாக நம் சினிமாக்கள் கற்ற வித்தை. 

இதை இப்படி எண்பதுகளின் ஆரம்பத்திலேயே தன் நாவலில் புகுத்தியிருக்கிறார் சுஜாதா. நம் சினிமா ஜனங்கள் அவரிடம் கட் செய்துகொண்டு தங்களிடம் அந்த வித்தையை ஓபன் செய்து கொண்டுவிட்டன.

குற்றவாளிகள் எப்படி உருவாகிறார்கள், குற்றங்கள் நடப்பதன் பின்னணி என்ன, குற்றங்களை எப்படித் தடுக்க வேண்டும் என்ற வியாக்கியான ஜல்லியடிகள் கதையில் இருந்தாலும்,  அவற்றையெல்லாம் ஓங்கியொலிக்கும் குரலாய்த் தனியே தராமல் கதையின் போக்கில் சாமர்த்தியமாய்ச் சொல்கிறார் சுஜாதா.

தொடக்கம் முதல் இறுதிவரை நாராயணனோடே பயணிக்கிறது கதை. முதலாளி தன் மீது கொள்ளும் நம்பிக்கையில் அவன் பெறும் சந்தோஷம், திலகம் அவன் மேல் காட்டும் பிரத்யேகக் கரிசனத்தின் பேரானந்தம், அவனது தப்பியோடல்கள், வேலை செய்யும் இடத்தில் தன் அடையாளம் மறைக்கும் சாமர்த்தியம், திலகத்தைக் கத்தி வீசிக் காப்பாற்றுவது என்று கதை பயணிக்க ஒரு கட்டத்தில் அந்தக் கதையின் பயணத்தில் நாமே நாராயணன் ஆகிவிடுகிறோம்.

கைத்திறன் உள்ளவனுக்கு எங்கே சென்றாலும் வேலை கிடைப்பதை நாம் பார்ப்போம், நாராயணன் என்னும் புண்ணியகோடி சிறையில் கற்ற தச்சு வேலையும்,பிளம்பிங் வேலையும் அவன் எளிதாக வேலையை விட்டு வேறு வேலை மாறுகையில் உதவினாலும்,அதுவே அவனை போலீஸிடம் சிக்கவும் வைக்கிறது. 

வாத்தியார் பற்றி எத்தனை பேசினாலும் தகும்

This book endravathu oru naal emphasizes more on moral values and ethics. When we do some sin it follows us even after some years though we may not get the punishment instantly. Those deeds performed by us irrespective of good or bad recite the equal actions for it. Nice book from sujatha pointing out the social issues and root cause of it.

கதை ஆரம்பிக்கிறப்ப வில்லன் கதை சொல்றது, கதாநாயகி வில்லன் கூட போறது, வில்லன் மாட்டாம எல்லா முறையும் தப்பிக்கிறது அப்டின்னு கடைசி வரைக்கும்
வில்லன ஜெயிக்க வைச்சு, சே... கெட்டது தான் ஜெயிக்குமா அப்படினு நினைக்கிறீங்க கடைசி ஒரு பத்தில அவன நல்லவனா மாத்தி வைச்சது .......அருமை......

“என்றாவது ஒரு நாள்” - சுஜாதா

1982 ல் வெளிவந்த குறுநாவல் கிட்டத்தட்ட பழைய ரங்கா படத்தை நினைவூட்டுவதாக உள்ளது. அதாவது நாராயணன் என்பவன் கட்டட தொழிலாளியாக பயணிக்கிறான். ஆனால் அவனது கடந்த கால வாழ்க்கையில் அவன் எப்பேர்ப்பட்ட திருட்டு பேர் வழியாக இருந்துள்ளான் என்பது அவனுடைய நினைவு பார்வையிலேயே அவ்வப்போது வெளி வருகிறது.
இவனுக்கு அதே கட்டட வேலை பார்க்குமிடத்தில் பெண் ஒருத்தி நாராயணனோடு நட்பாகிறாள். அவளை திருமணம் செய்ய நாராயணன் முனைவதும், அந்த பெண்ணின் கதை அதற்கு முன்பு என்னவாக இருந்தது என்பதும், கடைசியில் அவளை பற்றிய உண்மை நாராயணனுக்கும், நாராயணனை பற்றி அவளுக்கும் தெரிந்ததா? என பல புதிர்களை உருவாக்கி, கதைமுடிவில் புதிர் முடிச்சுகள் அவிழ்ந்து முடிகிறது நாவல்.

திருட்டு, களவு என குறிக்கோளற்று சுற்றிக்கொண்டிருந்தவனின் தலைமறைவு வாழ்க்கையையும், ஒரு பெண்(அந்த காலத்தில்) தனிமையாக வாழ்க்கை நடத்த முனைந்தால் எப்படிப்பட்ட நிலைக்கு ஆளாவால் என்பதையும்., இவர்கள் இருவரின் சந்திப்பையும் மனவோட்டங்களையும், அழகாக, சற்றே அன்பு மிளிர படம்பிடித்துக் காட்டப்பட்ட கதை.

Endravathu Oru Naal is a classic Sujatha thriller. The short novel sets up a brisk pace right at the beginning and I was not able to stop until I turned the last page. Sujatha employs the technique of writing sentences from “the past” and “the present” seamlessly without breaks; he does the same when describing “the present happenings and thoughts” of different characters with contiguous sentences. His writing is so powerful that the context automatically bubbles forward. It is remarkable how the plot stays fresh and believable even today, forty years after Sujatha wrote this novel.

சுஜாதாவின் நகைச்சுவை இதில் இருக்காது. மர்மரமான கதை முற்றிலும், இருந்தும் ஸ்வாரஸ்யம் குறையவில்லை. வெறும் 133 பக்கங்களில் துரிதமாக படித்து முடித்து விடலாம். கதையின் முடிவு அந்த அளவிற்க்கு சிலிர்க்க வைக்கவில்லை.

This is my First Sujatha's Book.

My first experience in reading a book that goes into past and flies back to present at every paragraph.

Family drama by sujatha - a bit different from his general plots. A person escapes from prison and lives a secret life. A girl enters into his life and parallely a police officer too with a grudge of finding him. What happens post that is the plot of the story.

The flow and writing is very good. Non linear way of story telling (which is so famous now) being used for his flashback during 1982 makes one feel why sujatha sir is special. The touch of sujatha that you will see in his short stories and kurunovel is not that effective here.

A page turner, talk about emotion with a mystery plot is a bit different and it is for that I would recommend people to consider this book. Different sujatha sir, go for it you will feel good.
