It’s the captivating conclusion to this moving saga of choices made and chances lost. Over a decade ago, Alexa Moore’s first love vanished without warning. After years of mourning Carter Storm’s fateful departure, her emotional wounds have faded and she is finally free from the pain of her past. Now in her mid-twenties, her future includes the perfect husband and a lucrative career as a make-up artist. Of course, all this comes to a screeching halt when the past suddenly comes rushing back at her. The moment Carter Storm returns and reveals the truth about his mysterious disappearance, Alexa’s life is irrevocably altered. Every irrepressible emotion she ever tried to bury for him is inexplicably rehashed. In the wake of their rekindled friendship, Alexa promises to keep Carter at a distance, so that her marriage is not put in jeopardy. With all the strength Alexa can muster, she must push back the very real attraction she still feels for this man. But their history just won't let the passion between the two die, especially when Carter refuses to fan the coals of their long ago relationship. As Alexa struggles to determine where her heart and future lie, she makes a shocking decision that will upset the balance of everyone around her, leading to a series of staggering and heart breaking surprises.
Forever Blue: New Tears to Cry by Jennifer Edlund is the follow up book to Forever Blue. The book picks up exactly where the first book left off; in reality I think it could have been one long book instead of two separate books, but whatever because I really enjoyed the story and it was worth both books.
I felt Forever Blue (the first novel) had a lot of heart to it and sorrow, more so then FB: New Tears to Cry. I felt really bad for the main character Alexa and wanted nothing more for her and Carter (Aiden) to have their forever. In this novel, Alexa was a bit of an annoying character the first half of the book. I found her to me incredibly immature. She was holding onto Carter so strongly and was like a love sick fool during their short affair. I still think her feelings toward Carter were only so strong because he literally vanished not letting her say a goodbye and he was the only link to her parents who both died when she was rather young. I think she was in love with the idea of Carter more so then him.
I adored the character of Scotty, Alexa’s perfect husband. Yes he wanted the white picket fence, a good wife/mother, and to be a father but what woman doesn’t want to be married to a man like him? He was an amazing husband who “would have walked on fire” for Alexa as he tells her this in the book. When he was hurt, I felt his pain. When Alexa tells him the truth, the following scenes between the two were so incredible and sad. Their storyline was by far my favorite part of Forever Blue: New Tears to Cry. As sad as I was for them and how their story ends, I was so thankful the author gave us closure on Scotty. I loved the coffee shop scene three years later. It made me so happy for Scotty. I really could have read an entire book on just the two of them.
The second half of the book, once Alexa had Luke, she completely changed. She was no longer the annoying, immature character she was in the beginning. She grew into a woman and a mother maybe that is how the author planned it for Alexa’s character. Carter or Aiden… was the exactly the same. No back bone to his mother who doesn’t even deserve to be called a mother. She still ran his life, or shall I say ruined his life and any chance to be with the person he truly loves. I felt really sorry for him, especially at the end but you don’t always get second or third chances at happiness.
I really wish the ending was different, not with the characters and who ended up with whom because I loved Derrick, I even wish he had more part in the storyline and was able to get to know him better but how it just abruptly the book ended. I really thought my kindle didn’t download the entire book. I can see where the author was going with the story and it was “cute” but I just didn’t think it was an appropriate ending and I felt I was short changed with the time I invested with the characters, also the characters deserved an ending for them as well.
I give Forever Blue: New Tears to Cry 3.5 stars. I would have given it 4 stars if it was not for the ending.
I loved this book!!!! I received a free copy in exchange for a review and I loved it!!!! The ONLY thing I can say negatively about it, is the main characters personality......Alexa Moore.....was a little too innocent. She seriously endured set back after set back, when it came Carter (a.k.a. Aiden Storm)....I cannot take it!!! I will not disclose too much because it will ruin the story for everyone else...but man.... could someone cut this girl a BREAK!!!!! I would have given this book 5 stars is not for the fact that this poor girl had to endure hardship and tragedy, one after the other. There was so much hardship for this girl, that it got to the point that I could not endure it any longer. I just really hated Carter (AKA Aiden Storm) at times and loved him at others. I really had hoped for a better ending for Alexa throughout (or I should say, what I thought was a better ending), but that never happened (as far as what I thought would be the ultimate happy ending :) It did work itself out, to where I actually felt a happy ending by the books end..... but still, after having LOVED Forever Blue (book #1)..... I had huge, high hopes for Carter and Alexa. Despite his mothers attempts at controlling him..... I figured eventually he would stand up to her..... but it seriously never happened. It is sad, but true. I did however fall head over heels for Derek.... so he totally made up for Carters miss!
But.... the silver lining is.... this book never stops! Both Books #1 and 2 are amazing at fast paced storyline's and action..... that is something I LOVED about this story. It is like a fast paced soap opera almost..... with the storyline between Alexa and Carter and then with Alexa and Derek! I could not put either of the 2 books down... and that says A LOT!!!! Overall this is a great story full of real life situations, tragedy, deceit, betrayal, and MORE tragedy!!! It is the agony of the story that keeps you drawn in and will not let you go.
Here is a blurb from Goodreads..... You HAVE to read this series!!!! Check it out today!

“He left me believing he was my soul mate and that one day, he would come back to me.”
As far as Alexa goes, I don’t even know what to say. This girl goes through so much. I was just waiting for an anvil to drop from the sky and fall on her head like Wyle E. Coyote. I mean seriously, this girl seems to go through it all. Carter is the only thing she has left from her childhood and she was so desperate to hold on to him. She claims she knows him, but she doesn’t. Not really. No one is the same person they were when they were 12. She is still insisting that she is in love with him. Alexa is in love with the idea or Carter and the what-if’s. Carter doesn’t really exist anymore; he’s been taken over by the monster known as Aidan.
Carter/Aidan’s stage name should have been Norman Bates. The relationship he has with his “Pyscho” mother, Mary, was just creepy. He was a grown man and he needed to grow a pair. I’m still not sure if he was really the monster we were meant to believe he was or if his “why I did what I did” story was true? I guess was up to the reader to decide. He could have just made that up to redeem himself or it really happened. It didn’t really matter. I didn’t like him. The things he did to Alexa were just unforgiveable and I’m glad she finally loved herself enough to move on and let him go.
This sequel made me laugh, cry, and pissed…..mostly pissed. This book was just as intense as the first. I really liked it. It was still told in the POV of Alexa with flash backs and a few 3rd person glimpse into Aidan’s world. The author used modified celebrity names which I thought were hilarious (like Carly Undergrove & N’Tune). Even Carter and his brother Darrin (which reminded me of Nick Carter and Aaron Carter)…..very cute. I’m so glad I got to read these! Can’t wait for more from Jennifer Edlund!
Like an idiot, I read this book before reading the first one. Agrh, it felt incomplete, I should have figured it out before finishing the book like a dim-wit!
I liked the book, frustrating at a point but still loved it. The story was a nice roller-coaster ride! With its ups and downs! I HATE Aiden and Carter. I HATE his mother too, fucking bitch. RUTH SHOULD FUCKING GO DIE IN A DITCH. Scotty was such a sweet heart! Poor guy, Its always the good guys who get their hearts poached :( I really like Derrick! :D I like Luke, smart.. sweet.. adorable :) Alexa is dumb.. very dumb but strong willed and sweet!
I think this are the words I could only utter at this moment. It's uniquely fascinating how Carter and Alexa's love had turned out into.
How Alexa was althroughout? Shattering in an exquisite way With all the twist and turn. This book took me by surprise in any ways possible. I think I'll be hangovered for a while with this one.
I dove right into this one! I felt so bad for Scotty, he seemed like a really loving guy. I must say that Carter pissed me off A LOT. Thank god I have a kindle because that was the main reason for not throwing it across the room! I loved little Luke and Alexa was a wonderful mother. I really enjoyed reading this series.
Forever Blue: Old Songs to Sing, New Tears to Cry was amazing. I fell in love with the characters all over again and did not want the book to end!!! I laughed and cried, it really was touching. I recommend it to everyone. But you must read the first one "Forever Blue" before the sequel.
This is a great continuation of the first...With all of the highs and lows, I read this in one night...I would read a third book if there ever becomes one....
This book is a phenomenal conclusion to Forever Blue! I read this book in less than 24 hours, and have spent the past few days thinking about what I wanted to write in a review. As I closed the last page, I sat there and let out a sigh of relief for Alexa because she went through a world wind of emotions throughout this story, but I feel this book held a lot of obstacles that she had to overcome, which she did, despite having those breaking moments that I think anyone would have if in her position.
While Alexa does make mistakes, especially giving in to temptation, she held herself together to the best of her ability when the times became difficult. In the end, it ruined her married, which was honestly expected, but what I loved the most was feeling her emotions throughout, and with the fear and times of guilt.
There were tears and so much laughter! It all balanced out so wonderfully. There was also fear at times, even anger when it came to certain moments of the book with the situation Alexa was dealing with, which was unimaginable. Alexa definitely stood her ground in this novel, especially when it came to Carter, and even Mary when she decided to make her appearance. Throughout the book it switched from Alexa’s POV, to third POV for Carter, but I enjoyed that because it was seeing an insight to his side, and catching a glimpse at those moments of him alone, or being in his own world and noticing the change in himself.
Overall, I loved this book and it was a fantastic conclusion. In the end, everything falls into place for Alexa, as well as giving her the hope she had needed all along. I closed this book with a smile. It’s packed full of emotion and humor, all the while beautifully written, and left me wanting to know how Alexa’s life turned out a few years down the line. I definitely recommend this book, so make sure you purchase both Forever Blue and Forever Blue: New Tears to Cry, Old Songs to Sing by Jennifer Edlund!
The story was fantastic! Extreme drama! Prepare a box of tissue if you were the type of person that easily sympathize with the characters. Every dialogue was well said. I really didn't anticipate the turn of events, it was completely unpredictable! I was even shocked on some part! There were times where I was really pissed on both Alexa and carter, I really didn't know what to do. The story was heart wrenching ! I was really glad that Alexa was really a strong person! The ending was kind of not what I anticipated, and because of it, I probably would like another installment to this sequel.
At first when I was reading this book I wasn't sure how I would feel about it because I have strong feelings towards cheating, but I kept reading. After I pushed my thoughts on that aside, I actually liked this book. It's about a woman growing from her past instead of letting it define her forever, and that is why I liked the book.
Loved the story, it is not a stand-alone book. You definitely should read Forever Blue (book 1) before diving into this one as it picks up the story practically mid sentence and you need the character development from book 1 to be able to follow the story.
