The lucky ones never knew what hit them. Lexa wasn’t one of them, and she was as scarred as the earth in the aftermath, although hers were wounds of the soul. Gabriel, could be the one to heal her wounds ….. Or he could be the death of her.

Very well done post apocalyptic story. Good feel for the fragmented society left after the comets hit earth. The alien element was fairly well done. He mostly seemed alien except when he called her baby while making love. That just seems very Earth centric to me. The romance was slow building and well done. No multiple partners in this one. The only thing that really brought the book down for me was the super quick ending. As usual I felt that a. the book needed to be longer and b. that extra length needed to come at the end. Everything always wraps up a bit too quickly in KO'Cs books.
Ms O'Connor can build a world and pull you into it, making you feel the desperation the heroine Lexa feels just trying to survive. Her Bravado shines through as she tries to deal with those around her. I felt her need to experience something better in life than what she has already known. You also feel Gah-re-al's struggle to conform to what he knows or to take that impossible leap and grab onto something he unknowingly longed for. This for me has been one of the best Post-apocalyptic Sci-fi stories I have read in a long while.
You know, just flat out I am a fan of Kaitlyn O'Connor. I love her Sci-fi and in this, she did not disappoint. I just got through reading a 79 page post apocalyptic sci-fi and it took me a couple of days to make it through. I wanted to love it but, really it was eh, just okay. However, this book The Lawgivers (205 pages) I ate up. I could not put it down.
I can not believe I'm giving O'Connor just 2 stars. I loved the premise of this book. Post apocalyptic alien scifi erotica sign me up! So what was my problem? Where was the editor for this book? There were so many typos and just wrong words scattered throughout the book it was distracting. There were also a few times I wondered if the book was missing chapters or pages. I'd be reading along and then Wham- what just happened? This book could have easily been a four star for me if it had just been edited! I seriously wonder if I got a rough draft instead of the finished product. I love O' Connors books and will most likely buy the next but I'm really hoping the next book is properly edited.
Where is the rest of the book??? I felt like she started writing, gave up, left it sitting for a couple of years, blew the dust off and went oh.. "and they lived happily ever after" the end. Why is the end so abrupt? Why? Why? Why?
I loved the story and it was just getting to the end where the war would happen between the humans and Angels, when it ended! She skipped the war and ended the book...she didn't even say who won!!!!
I love Kaitlyn and loved this story, I wanted more...what happened when they got to Raphael's homestead, the birth of their baby and what happens with Lexa's siblings. I just can't get enough of the world that Kaitlyn created. Truly my only real complaint and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it took until nearly half way through the book for the hero and heroine to come together. I hope that this is truly the start of a new series and that we get to revisit this world and these characters.
While not a bad story...the end just kinda petered out....I don't know if it was a bad copy from Fictionwise or poor editing but one minute they were discussing moving Lexa and Gabriel quitting being a "lawgiver" and in the next sentence she is 6 months pregnant and Gabriel is worried about weather or not he would be getting laid....
Um wow. Maybe because I got this book from a now defunct ebook site was the reason for the super crappy editing. At one point I'm reading how he's going into Ralph's village and the next thing I know he's in front of the 'judge' of his people being scolded for possibly having a relationship with a human. I had to flip back and forth a few times to see if my Kindle glitched. Then another one was when she was at the river talking to her brother and Gabriel and her brother was telling her to go with Gabriel because a war was brewing and he wanted her safe and the next page they're living HEA. WTH did I miss? I'm giving it 3 stars for the story line, it was unique and not something I've read before.
DNF @ 42% I believe I have a problem with this author, that’s the second book from her that I DNF. The aliens consider themselves brighter than humans but were barely able to understand basic human dynamics or even the amount of humans there were on earth. The H was a bigot and it was hard to like him, even when he began to see that the “savages” were not an inferior race. I was really bored.
I really liked the post apocalyptic setting, characters and general plot of this story but things progressed at a lightning speed near the end with a timeline jump and it ended too abruptly for a satisfying conclusion.
Me when starting this book Me after finishing this book
I can't bring myself to rate this book because I'd have to give it one star if I did. I just can't do that to my favorite author. Where is the rest of the book.
This book was obviously incomplete. I've turned in work like this in a few of my English courses. My instructors weren't fooled then and I'm not now.
I can barely string two words together I'm so flabbergasted. What happened to that?
Can I just say the scene with the "impaled" cat was a a bit much. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Loved it. Could relate to characters which were believable and great world building.
The background of story is 50-70years ago two meteors hit earth and with the following environmental cataclysm wiped out a fair chunk of humanity with the remenants living by scavenging what's left from previous (our) civilisation. Then come Gabriel's people to settle on/ build a colony on Earth, but who also feel the responsibility or taming/rehabilitating the human savages for various reasons.
Our heroine had been born in the "after" [post-apocalypse] at a time when most knowledge of the "before" was lost. Both our hero and heroine had had it tough and it was fascinating as our story unfolds watching these two strangers with different backgrounds and thinking relate and gradually grow closer.
When I read the kindle sample I was in two minds whether to purchase [due to the previously mentioned wordiness issue] but glad I did as book improves. There were three or four places an editor should have got the red texter out where author repeats herself but book mountains above what a lot of current fare is. Book a decent length so this isn't too bad.
I would recommend this book and thank the author for sharing her originality, creativity, and time. You can tell with Kaitlyn O'Connor it is a labour of love :)
Ps. At end of book we get a preview of the first few chapters of Kaitlyn's new Cyberevolution "The Awakening" book soon to be released - you'll love it :)
Classic Kaitlyn O'Connor! First I would like to say that I am a HUGE Kaitlyn O'Connor fan! I have read most, if not all of her books as well as many of her books under her other pen names. This book goes straight into my "favorites" list. The heroine, Lexa, is strong and determined to make her life better. She faces many trials in life and, under the circumstances, has adapted very well to a post apocalyptic world. The hero, Gabriel, is a super bad ass Lawgiver who walks into town to take out the scum gang members and take the humans to a better place where they can learn to live properly. There is one particular scene in the book (the cougar scene) that had me laughing so hard, I had tears in my eyes! Kaitlyn never fails to paint the image of what a world would be like in a situation like this. Her descriptions of places and characters are always easy to envision in my mind. Excellent work!
Where is the rest of it. You get the heroines desire to live, survive and find her lost family. You get that Gabriel is a determined orphan who is finding out what it is like to want, need and care for someone. It all seems to come along and while you are expecting the book to continue and develop...it just stops. What, I mean come on there is still a few things that need cleared up. EG - what happened at the camp, how did Gabriels' bosses take him leaving (did he just leave or retire or what?), what happened to Lexa's sister and brothers and her nephew and niece? I mean come on there we get to a cliff-hanger and then an everything is hunky dory. Does this mean that there is another book in this series? I can't find anything on GR and her listed website doesn't work!!!!!

I cannot read stuff about bad Angels that are sent from heaven. Now if it's a fallen angel I can kind of get around it, but not the former. So, could not finish, no rating.
I read this years ago and the plot and worl had always stayed with me. I recently stumble on it again and rather enjoyed the re-read. Don't get me wrong, there are some flaws. The sex scenes, short as they are, have some flaws and would have been more enjoyable if explored in greater depth. The ending, while a HEA is rather abrubt and the last couple of paragraphs in the 'epilogue' suggest that even 6 months later the leading couple haven't sorted out their relationship. Despite those minor annoyances, I would rate this as my most enjoyable Kaitlyyn O'Connor read.
really good story. Post apocalyptic. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the end is to fast. You don't know really what happen between the time Gabriel took her from the new village and the moment she is pregnant for 6 month.
I would like to know if there was a war or something between human and udai (the angel-demon)
but I really loved the way Gabriel understand that human were not so different from the udai, and how he fell in love with Lexa

Not my favorite by this author...I thought the resolution was way too brief when the build-up had taken so long. It was hard to believe that Gabriel could change his mind about being with the heroine as quickly as he did, and I had a really hard time believing that a heroine who had suffered years and years of sexual abuse would have no issues at all becoming sexually involved with a giant winged guy.
I love this author! This is a post apocalyptic book, the scenario is vivid and very believable. The characters were easy to like and root for. Lexa has had a very hard life , she was brutalized a survivor though. She was not your typical heroine. I was rooting for her. Gabriel is an alien with wings that to lex a he is an angel and hopefully her savior. There story was interesting. I can only say one negative, the books end was a bit abrupt, I would have liked a little bit more that way.
I like Kaitlyn O'Connor and this one started out pretty good. It wasn't bad but I was really disappointed in the ending. It wasn't as erotic as many of her books but that wasn't a problem for me. There just seemed to be too many unresolved issues at the end. Issues I'm assuming will be addressed in future additions to this series. I mean, I assume this is part of a series.
I enjoy reading Kaitlyn O'Connor's books (including the books under her pen names). As the first book in this series (I hope), this book does start 'slow' because it sets up the world and storyline. The romance may seem secondary to the plot but it is still very much there. After all, it's Kaitlyn O'Connor!
Good book. I did nit like the ending very well though (it cuts off very abruptly). The hero of the novel however is very prejudice through out the book and it is left very unresolved as to whether his ways are changed. I wish there could have been a second installment to this book.
I'm torn between giving 2 stars for an ending that doesn't resolve the story and 4 stars for a good story. The story is as engaging as all of O'Connor's other books but she doesn't provide a satisfactory resolution to the story. The relationship ends up HEA but everything else is left wide open. :(

Should've been four stars but the author build up the story to an epic battle and... didn't show any of it. I don't even know who won the battle or how Lexa and Gabriel adjust to life on the stead. Still like the author though. I'm on to Awakening.
I'd liked most of Kaitlyn's books, however this one seemed to be missing a few chapters at the end. It skipped 6 months and left one hanging as to what happened to the rest of the characters.
