Ignite took this trilogy to a whole new level, and I loved every second of it.
Aria has developed into such an amazing character, and her growth can be seen throughout this book. I'm so glad she is no longer the mopey girl from Unearth. Even though she still has a tendency to wallow in her misfortune, her strength shines through and she has finally learned to stand up for herself. I enjoyed learning more about Aria's powers and getting to see her in action, even if the results were disastrous at times.
I was also excited to see more of Clay. He is a truly amazing character, staying strong and giving so much of himself to keep Aria safe. I often felt sorry for him. He knew just how to push Aria's buttons, and she was quite catty with him, but he had his reasons and as the truth about their relationship unraveled, my heart ached for him all the more. He'd suffered so much, and continued to suffer each day with the guilt that consumed him.
Clay and Aria's chemistry is explosive, literally, but there were some amazingly tender moments shared between them. Clay seemed quite guarded when he was with Aria, but from time to time his soft-hearted, swoon-worthy self showed itself, leaving me with my heart in my throat. Bernel certainly knows how to keep her readers on the edge of their seat, waiting for that special moment when two characters, who so obviously belong together, finally admit their feelings. It was painful to read (in a good way)!!
There are plenty of twists and turns, and some amazing revelations within this story. Some made me cry, others sent my heart soaring. I'm ready to dive right into the next book. I'm excited to see what Bernel has in store for the amazing characters she has brought to life.
